Chapter 221: [220] Tasty and Pretty Fisherman 71 (Fourteenth Update)

Xiao Yu pulled out a sea clam and, excitedly wiping her sweat, showed it off to Yaya.

"Yaya, look how capable I am! Look at all these sea clams. We have enough to eat for a while now."

Yaya looked around in surprise. "We don’t usually get this many. What happened today?"

"Did my luck just burst into flames or something? By the way, Yaya, are there usually many scallops, mud snails, and stuff around here?"

Yaya nodded. "Quite a few, yeah. Everyone comes here to gather them. We can’t finish eating them all."

Rubbing her chin, Xiao Yu nodded. "I see. It must be because the waters here are rich in resources."

The most important thing was that it wasn’t polluted, so not only were there a lot of seafood, but the shellfish were also plentiful.

Xiao Yu put the extra sea clams in Yaya’s bucket. Even then, there were still too many. Eventually, Yaya had to take one bucket home first and then come back with an empty one. In the meantime, Xiao Yu took the chance to dig up even more, finally having to use her own clothes to carry them back.

When they got home, they poured all the sea shells, sea snails, and sea clams into a large tank and filled it with two buckets of seawater, keeping them to let them expel the sand.

Then Yaya started a fire to cook, and Xiao Yu went to the seaside.

Today, she had spent twenty copper coins to buy two fish cages from a neighbor. She felt it was impractical to only eat shellfish and sea snails; they needed to catch other good things as well.

So, she bought two somewhat used but still decent fish cages. Feeling that two were too few, she sneakily transferred three more from her own "space."

She then placed the five fish cages at different positions in the sea, planning to collect them early the next morning.

By the time she got home, it was already dark. There was no food; Yaya had steamed some potatoes and made millet porridge for Grandma.

The two of them had just potatoes with pickles for dinner. Seeing such pitiful food, Xiao Yu couldn’t bear to eat.

She really wanted to share the good things from her "space" with the child!

She only ate one potato, afraid to eat more, worrying the child wouldn’t have enough. So, she claimed she had no appetite.

However, Yaya didn’t keep the food to herself. The small potatoes were intended to be four per person, but she didn’t eat hers. Instead, she saved the remaining three for Xiao Yu, saying she could eat them if she got hungry at night, which deeply moved her.

The millet porridge was thick enough for Grandma, who was ill, so her portion was sufficient.

Seeing such thriftiness over a potato tore at Xiao Yu, so at night, while Yaya was asleep, she went down to the cellar and transferred some small potatoes from her "space" and buried them in the sand. This way, the child would find that there were still plenty of potatoes. She didn’t dare to replenish too many at once, since the ground space in the cellar was limited. So, she decided to add more after a few days.

After doing her good deed, she finally went back to her room to sleep. The west wing room used to be Yaya’s sister’s room. It was clear no one had lived there since her relative passed away, so Yaya and she spent a lot of time cleaning. She didn’t use the bedding there but instead brought out what she used on the island from her "space," so she could rest in peace.

It wasn’t that it was distasteful, just a matter of personal habit.

Before sleeping, she went into her "space" to tend her crops, planting more for the next day. Harvesting and planting in her "space" was a routine that had to be repeated at least three times a day since Level 5 crops took longer to mature, allowing her to harvest three times in a 50-hour day in her "space."

After harvesting the crops, she did some stretches before heading out. She had to check the five fish cages she set last night to see if there were any catches. Having been eating vegetarian since arriving at this home had almost made her skinny, and she hoped the sea would give her a pleasant surprise today.
