Chapter 92: Chapter 92
"You forced me to make decisions to save myself from embarrassment and nonstop bullying! You put me under so much nonsense that I must fight back!" Madeline finally released her frustration.
She had so much resentment towards this bastard who still dared to act like he did nothing wrong, with his soft yet deep gaze and that devilish grin, as if everything was right in his expectation the whole time.
"You treat me like I’m a business property to give you profit, and so I become one!" Madeline said. "My role as the bitch in your reality show will bring you a lot of viewers and bring you profit much bigger than your initial investment. And you will reap all the benefits while I’ll get bashed, threatened, and cursed by the whole world!"
"What more do you want, Lancelot Grant? I bring you the profit you want as your business tool. What more?!" Madeline asked, though she knew that Lance wouldn’t give her an answer because she knew she was right.
"And now that I finally found a man that is genuinely kind to me, wants to help me, and is not a scheming scum like you and other men, you fucking punched him!" Madeline lashed out while beating Lance right on his chest.
Unfortunately, she had no power on her punches, and it felt like a tap for Lance.
Nevertheless, it felt painful for him, probably even more so than a real punch.
"Don’t you know how guilty I feel when seeing him with that bruise? You hurt someone whom I care so much about!" Madeline continued hitting Lance’s chest to no avail, and Lance finally grabbed Madeline’s arm to stop her.
"Madeline, you are my girlfriend! Contractual or not, you are mine, and I won’t let you fall in love with another man!" Lance said.
"I know! I’m not in love with him! I wish I could feel that spark with Zane. But I can only feel that with you. But I still care about him because he cares about me, too!" Madeline began tearing up. She didn’t understand why Lance insisted that she shouldn’t be in love with Zane when there was never love to begin with.
"Each time I kiss him, the only one in my mind is you! I keep thinking about our first kiss and how fireworks explode in my head each time our lips meet," Madeline confessed while sobbing. "I keep thinking about you, wishing that I can kiss you instead of forcing myself to kiss another man."
Lance’s heart exploded the moment Madeline confessed her true feelings to him.
Madeline sounded so genuine and soft, as if she had been waiting to tell him all this.
Yet he did her dirty by putting her in a wolf’s den, only to regret it later on.
And now, he regrets almost everything.
For the first time in his life, he truly felt like a detestable asshole.
"I love you, and as naive as it sounds, I fell in love the moment we shared our first kiss. But you don’t need to know any of that. None of that matters when you betrayed me, and I’m sure you have no heart for a business property like mine, Lancelot Grant," Madeline said. She tried to free herself from Lance’s grip, but he was so strong that he didn’t budge.
Lance was staring at the tears that stained her beautiful face. There was a wave of sweetness in his heart, knowing that Madeline was actually in love with him, but there was also confusion because he didn’t know how to make it.
Is he in love with Madeline Rose?
He wasn’t sure either.
But one thing was for sure. He didn’t want anyone to see her like this. Because that meant he had failed as a boyfriend to protect her body... and heart.
"Madeline..." Lance leaned, wanting to give her a kiss that might calm her down. But Madeline pushed his face as hard as she could.
"Don’t you dare to fucking kiss me after all this! You’re using a cheap trick to get forgiveness!" Madeline protested.
Lance tried a few more times, but Madeline kept refusing and pushing him away.
He finally gave up because Madeline started struggling nonstop. He was afraid that he’d hurt her.
Thus, he released his grip on Madeline, and the latter quickly stepped back.
Madeline wiped the tears with her hand, but her tears wouldn’t stop flowing down her cheeks. Thus, she could only glare at Lance with her tearful eyes.
Lance wasn’t intimidated, but Madeline’s expression evoked a greater sense of guilt in his heart, to the point that he was left speechless.
All he could do was stare back at her, accepting the fact that he hurt Madeline enough to make her cry.
"Don’t worry about our contract. I will still act like your contractual girlfriend, depending on what you want me to do," Madeline said. "That’s all that you want, right, Lance? You want to use me for your whatever secret plan and reap the benefits, so I will do the duty in exchange for money."
"Baby, I—" Lance wanted to apologize first before he could utter how he wanted to take this contractual relationship a step further.
But Madeline quickly interrupted him.
"Don’t call me baby, Sir. I am your employee. So, call me Madeline," Madeline said. "And since you don’t want me to leave this room, then so be it."
"However, if you dare do anything to me while I was asleep, then I will forever hate you for it," Madeline threatened. "Hopefully, you can break my contract as soon as possible so I can properly apologize to Zane and start anew."
"You know that won’t happen," Lance said. "I won’t break that contract."
Madeline scoffed. Even if her body and heart desperately wanted comfort from this man, she still turned around and walked away.
"I have a lot of bitter experiences with men. You are no different from them, Lance," Madeline said. She looked over her shoulder and added, "It’s really easy for you to trick a stupid and naive woman like me. All I need to do is wait until you grow bored of me. That shouldn’t take long, right?"
