Chapter 227: Chapter 227

Theodore went quiet for a long time after Madeline’s statement.

Madeline expected Theodore to lash out at him for making fun of Angel in such a big event. After all, Theodore seemed to care so much about his reputation.

She waited for his response, and contrary to her expectations, Theodore suddenly smiled and said, "Thanks for giving me a reason to break free from that hag’s clutch, Madeline Rose."

"You can show your gratitude by repairing your relationship with Lily instead. She’s the one who requested Angel’s downfall in exchange for her full support for me to enter the Grant family," Madeline stated truthfully. "You’re her favorite brother."

Of course, Theodore was well aware that he was Lily’s favorite brother. Ever since they were young, Lily has depended on him the most.

Things drastically changed after Angel entered their family, and his relationship with Lily was so strained that they hadn’t had a proper conversation for years.

Theodore’s expression eased as he faced the idea of him and Lily fixing their sibling relationship. He had been so lonely, isolating himself from his own family because of Angel. It was time for him to be one with his family once more.

"I still want to thank you for setting me free, Madeline Rose. Don’t worry about Angel and Jonathan Hale. If they dare to sue you after this, I will help Lance keep them at bay until they dare not show their faces again," Theodore assured. "Especially that witch, Angel. I will send her somewhere far away, probably in Southeast Asia or the Middle East, just so she can’t do anything to us anymore."

Madeline smiled at her future brother-in-law. "Then I trust you to make the right call, Mr. Grant."

"Mm, I’ll take my leave now. I’m sure Lance will come to see you soon," Theodore said before leaving Madeline’s room.

Not long after Theodore left, Lance knocked on the door once and entered without waiting for Madeline’s answer.

"Babe!" Lance jumped to his girlfriend and enveloped her in a tight hug that Madeline began struggling because it was like being hugged by a bear.

"Y—You bear! You’re suf...focating me!"

"Oh, my bad" Lance released his hug, but he grabbed Madeline’s arms instead and leaned down as he gave her a deep kiss filled with longing and joy.

Their kiss lasted for a few seconds. After their kiss, a lipstick stain adorned Lance’s lips.

"What’s gotten into you? Why are you so excited?" Madeline asked.

"How can I not be excited? You are so fucking gorgeous on the runway! I think I’ve fallen in love with you all over again!" Lance said excitedly, which made Madeline chuckle because Lance looked like a boy who had just gotten the best present he ever had for Christmas.

"I’m glad you enjoyed it. I thought it’d be too terrifying for you to see since I brought Angel and Jon to the stage as my ’props’," Madeline chuckled.

"Honestly, it took me a while to notice their presence. I was focused entirely on you," Lance admitted sincerely. "But don’t worry, I will handle them if they dare to sue you for defamation. You did the right thing by exposing them, especially Angel. Theodore has no reason to keep Angel anymore now."

"He is right. You saved Theodore from that hag." Madeline and Lance turned their heads at the same time to the door and saw Lily leaning on the door frame with a genuine smile on her face.

Lily appeared serene, as if the biggest weight in her life had been lifted. She stared at Madeline and said, "I never thought you’d be so bold, especially with the world watching. But then again, I shouldn’t have expected anything less from you, Maddy. You’re the hot sensation that will always fill the headlines online."

"You’re welcome," Madeline smiled. "It’s my duty as part of the family. We’re supposed to help each other, right?"

Madeline didn’t want to wait for Lily to acknowledge her as part of the family. Instead, she seized the opportunity to proclaim herself, and thankfully, Lily nodded in agreement.

"Yes, we’re family now," Lily said before she turned around. "I don’t have anything left to do here anymore. I’m pretty satisfied with the result. I give you and Lance my blessing, though it won’t make a difference."

Lance watched his little sister leave the room and then shifted his attention back to Madeline. "Did you plan something with her?"

"Not really, but she gave me a condition to be part of the Grant family," Madeline shrugged. "It’s no big deal for me, though. Angel and Jon were the ones who wanted to attack me first. So I prepared a counterattack against them."

Lance’s gaze darkened as he realized he had been kept in the dark for so long.

Aside from her initial desire to investigate Jonathan Hale’s current status, Madeline didn’t tell him anything about Angel and Jon, and no matter how many times he inquired about her safety, Madeline would always say that she was doing just fine and nothing was threatening her.

But look at this...

"This will be the last time you pull this kind of stunt, Madeline Rose. Understand?" Lance warned. "Or at least, if you are going to do something like this, make sure to tell me first so I can give you all of my support and ensure your safety."

"Aww, are you worried about me?"

"Of course! You’re my woman!" Lance insisted. "Besides, you’re so damn gorgeous. I think we need to tighten the security around you even more since people are going crazy over you on the internet right now, especially those thirsty men."

"As long as they can’t touch me, I have nothing to worry about. I can count on you for that, right?"

"Absolutely," Lance nodded. "Let’s head home as soon as possible. Those reporters will swarm the parking lot after the huge sensation you created today."

"What about Angel and Jon? Should we just leave them like that on the runway?" Madeline asked.

"Theo will take care of them. Angel is his ex-fiancé, after all."
