She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 197
Chapter 197: Chapter 197
"Alright, I’ll keep that in mind."
"Well, enjoy the party. Though there are not more than thirty people around, hahaha!" George said before he left with Valerie.
Madeline looked around the gathering and realized that George was right. There were fewer than twenty people in the room, "Are these all the guests for today?"
"Not all, but George is right. It’s no more than thirty people," Lance replied. As they were about to join the small crowd, someone suddenly called Lance from behind;
"Lancelot, we need to talk."
They turned around simultaneously, and Madeline saw a woman in her mid to late thirties. She was wearing glasses and a long brown coat.
She had a pixie cut and combined with her stern look, she looked intimidating and had a commanding presence.
However, Madeline also noticed this woman had facial features similar to Valerie’s, giving her that striking beauty.
She was also followed by a tall, black woman in her late fifties who must’ve been a model back in her days.
Lance smiled at the woman and greeted, "It’s been a while, Boss Mackie."
"W—We’re adults already. So, don’t call me Boss. Just call me Mackie or Mackenzie," Mackie said as she cleared her throat to suppress her embarrassment. "I assume Valerie already told you I want to talk with you regarding your company."
"Yeah, she said that just now," Lance replied. "So, what are you going to talk about?"
"I heard everything from Theodore, and I’m worried about your future," Mackie said. "I know you don’t have a good relationship with him, but we are never on bad terms. So if you ever need help, just call me. I will do anything to ensure you won’t go bankrupt."
Lance chuckled. "Everything is under control, Boss. I can handle this myself—well, not alone." Lance wrapped his arm around Madeline’s waist and pulled her closer to his side. "I will handle it with this woman. I assume you already know her, right?"
Mackenzie finally spared a glance at Madeline and had a thin smile. "I heard a lot about her from Valerie. She told me that you two gave her a huge headache. But I can see why you are so into her. She’s gorgeous."
"T—Thank you, Ma’am—um... Miss..." Madeline stammered, unsure of how to address her.
"And she’s very cute as well," Mackenzie smiled. "Just call me Mackenzie. We will be in-laws after all."
"By the way, where’s Colton?" Lance asked. "He should be six years old by now, right?"
"He’s with his grandpa. I think they are in your dad’s study right now," Mackenzie said. "I’m going to talk with Theodore about a business deal. Remember to call me if you need help, or you can just call Diamond."
Mackenzie pointed at the old secretary behind her. "Diamond said that she already watched Psycho Moth."
"It was an amazing TV show," Diamond, the old secretary, added. She smiled at Madeline and said, "I’m waiting for your new show, Madeline Rose. You truly have the talent."
"I guess I should watch it too since Diamond told me it’s too good to pass up." Mackenzie chuckled and then left with Diamond following from behind.
Madeline was left awed by Mackenzie, and Lance found it funny as he nudged her. "You should stop staring at her back. She’s my oldest cousin, Valerie and Cedric’s oldest sister, and also the CEO of Clover Inc., replacing her father, who’s been itching to retire for a while now."
"Clover Inc? That advertisement company?" Madeline asked because she knew Clover Inc was one of the biggest advertisement companies in the world right now.
"Yes, it has also branched out in other fields, too," Lance added. He sighed as he silently admired Mackenzie. "She was a policewoman before she resigned and took over her dad’s company a few years ago."
Lance leaned closer to Madeline and whispered, "Her husband filed for divorce because she’s too dominant in the relationship, and her ex-husband feels emasculated. He simply left Mackenzie and their son, Colton, to marry his mistress."
"Oh no..." Madeline didn’t expect such a powerful woman to have a messy marriage life. "I hope she can find a better man soon."
"Ah, I don’t think she wants to. Besides, she’s busy with the company and her son," Lance replied.

Madeline and Lance joined the others in the family gathering. Madeline stuck like glue with Lance the whole time, feeling a little intimidated and shy in front of these powerful people.
"Babe, I’m going to talk with Theodore about business. Hang tight here for a bit, okay?"
"O—Okay."
As Lance left her alone, Madeline quickly found herself at the corner of the ballroom, awkwardly leaning on the wall, unsure what to do next.
The stares from others were becoming increasingly obvious, but it didn’t take long for them to get busy with each other, leaving Madeline alone.
She saw that Lance engaged in a serious discussion with Theodore, so she dared not interrupt.
As she waited and waited, she began to get lost in thought until she got the urge to go to the bathroom.
She didn’t want to ask Lance to accompany her like a kid. So she left the ballroom and asked one of the maids instead.
Once done with the bathroom, she stood in the middle of the long corridor with many doors on its left and right.
The long corridor and the doors confused her. She began pacing through the long corridor and took a few turns before she found herself completely lost.
’Shit, should I call Lance? But he’s probably busy with Theodore. I don’t want to disturb him when he starts building a good relationship with his big brother.’
As Madeline continued walking around the corridor, she saw a half-open door.
’Right, there’s probably a maid inside. I can ask her to escort me back to the ballroom.’
Thus, Madeline pushed the door open and saw two ladies in their sixties, one sitting on a chair holding the hand of another woman who sat weakly in a wheelchair.
The old woman in the wheelchair wore a blue knitted hat to cover her baldness, she looked incredibly sickly and thin, but that didn’t make her look ugly. It just made her look very frail.
Meanwhile, the other one with brown and white hair looked healthy and plump.
They seemed to be happily spending their time in peace, away from the crowd in the ballroom.
