Chapter 159: Chapter 159

Madeline returned to the production set and started her fourth scene as Renata Glass.

But when facing Harry during the scene, she suddenly said, "What if I don’t want to leave? Will you kick me out? Oh, come on now, we both know you don’t have the means to get me out of your life, Zane."

"CUT!"

Madeline jolted when Director Wang abruptly stopped the scene. She turned her head towards the director and apologized, "S—Sorry, Director. I will do it again."

Director Wang sighed, "You need to focus, Madeline. The one in front of you is Harry! H-a-r-r-y! Don’t bring your real boyfriend into this!"

"Sorry..."

Madeline took a deeper breath to focus and started her scene again.

This time, she was more confident and delivered that line perfectly.

But as they progressed with the scene, Harry slammed the table and yelled, "Out! I want you out of my office! NOW!"

"Oh? I told you that I don’t like rough play, right?" Renata kept on taunting Harry. "But oh well, if you want me to leave, I’ll leave. No need to get so heated."

"Good, because I will fire you and kick you out of my fucking life, Renata Glass!"

"I’d like to see you try, Mr. Grant."

"CUT!!"

Madeline flinched when the director said cut for the second time.

She knew she misspoke the last sentence, even though it was already so close to perfection.

"Why the hell are you calling him Mr. Grant? He’s not your second boyfriend! Damn it!" Director Wang yelled.

He was so happy that Madeline was so good at her role before, but she kept messing out for this scene for some reason.

She also looked dazed right after going out of the production set.

"I—I will try again, Director Wang! I’m so sorry!"

"No, no, it’s not doing well, Madeline," Director Wang frowned as he watched the previous recording. "You delivered your line perfectly, but your eyes look sad. You fail to portray Renata Glass’ fiery and cunning personality for this scene."

Director Wang massaged his temples as he saw the obvious distraught in Madeline’s eyes and said, "What happened to you, Madeline? You did an amazing job with the previous scene before lunch. Did you hit your head on your way back and suddenly forget your script?"

Madeline sealed her lips shut.

She had grown accustomed to directors scolding her since she was young, and all she could do right now was to stay calm and accept the blame.

"I don’t think you’re fit enough to repeat this. Your expression has been empty and detached," Director Wang pointed out. "Go home and read the script again. You can return tomorrow morning, and I expect you to do well after you read the script, Madeline Rose."

"I’m sorry, Director Wang," Madeline murmured before she walked to the dressing room and got changed.

Her fight with Zane ruined her day because she couldn’t keep him and Lance out of her mind.

This messy love triangle between them—if she could even call it that—affected her performance in the set.

Yet, she also had no idea what to do to appease Zane.

Madeline called Ada and waited for about ten minutes before Ada parked the car in front of her.

Ada hopped out of the SUV, and her smile dissipated when she saw her female boss’s face was full of anguish.

"M—Miss Rose, what happened?"

"It’s nothing," Madeline said as she ignored Ada’s question and hopped into the SUV. "Take me to Lance’s mansion."

Ada drove to the mansion, and she couldn’t help but ask, "I thought you said you’d stay in the production set until five. Did something happen?"

"Nothing. I told Director Wang that I needed to rearrange my stuff in the new house since I was moving out. So I finished my scenes early," Madeline lied.

"Are you sure that’s the case?"

"Yes," Madeline replied curtly. She wasn’t in the mood to talk about anything, so she shut her mouth and stared at the scenery outside.

Seeing that Madeline didn’t want to discuss it, Ada decided to drive silently.

Madeline walked into the mansion’s living room and saw a few butlers and maids standing on duty in front of her and Nathan’s belongings.

"Miss Rose, we’re tasked with helping you here. Please tell us where we should put every belonging you have," one middle-aged butler said.

Madeline saw the butlers and maids; from the way they spoke and greeted, it was obvious that they were professionals, and thus, Madeline had a suspicion in her heart.

’Are they his family’s servants? Wait, is it really okay for them to know about us?’ Madeline pondered.

Madeline was conflicted about it for a moment, but seeing that the butlers and maids didn’t move unless given a task, she decided to put aside her worry and start telling them what to do.

At this moment, Madeline acted like a proper lady from a good family who had just been married to a prince, so she became the lady of the house.

The maids and butlers followed her every instruction as she made sure this mansion wouldn’t feel empty.

She also told them to rearrange a few things around the mansion to make it more in her style.

It took three hours for everything to settle, including her bedroom, Lance’s master bedroom, and Nathan’s bedroom.

"Alright, that should be everything," Madeline said as the two maids finished changing the rug under the couch to a new one from the storage. "Thank you for helping me. I will tell Lance to tip all of you."

"Oh, please don’t do that, Miss. Master Grant has compensated us generously. It’s our duty to turn this mansion into your home."

"Master Grant?" Madeline frowned. "You mean Lancelot Grant, right?"

The butlers and maids exchanged glances, and one of them hesitantly stated, "No, Miss. The second Young Master doesn’t know that we came today. We’re tasked by the old Master, Henry Grant, his father."
