Chapter 149: Chapter 149

"Don’t." Theodore stopped her instantly. His gaze darkened as he was pulled down from heaven to the core of hell once more. "My mom is sick. She doesn’t need to know what’s happening right now."

"Then you shouldn’t be weak-willed towards Lance. He can be the destruction of your family," Angel said. She faked a sad expression and sighed, "I really wish I didn’t need to do this. After all, I’ve practically raised Lance with you."

Angel squeezed tears out of her eyes and added, "I also don’t want Kate to know about this. She’s been very good to me and helped me when I was at my lowest." Angel muttered. "But if we let Lance run rampant, maybe he will do something bad that will worsen your mom’s health."

Theodore’s gaze darkened and cooled.

He felt very uncomfortable having to suppress his little brother.

But Angel was right.

His mother was recovering from a life-threatening cancer, and though it would take a while for her, Theodore wanted to show his mother how much he had done to make sure everything was preserved.

Thus, he could only nod reluctantly. "I’ll wait and see. Knowing Lance’s incompetence, he will fuck up somehow, and I will seize everything from him when that happens."

Angel finally let go of Theodore and gave him another kiss. "That’s what I like. You know I’m doing this for Kate, right? She’ll be sad knowing that her second son ruined everything for her."

"I know."

Angel was assured again because she could get a hold of Theodore’s mind.

As long as she got to control Theodore, her retirement would be secured. But every now and then, she felt that her control over him started slipping, and it had gotten harder to make him obey.

He would constantly think about his family, especially his siblings.

He was so obsessed with ensuring that everything he cared for was doing well, so he tended to micromanage everything.

’But that bastard, Lancelot Grant. He really knows how to fight against his big brother.’ Angel couldn’t shake up this worry in her heart. She was scared that Theodore would eventually snap out of her influence and kick her out of his life. ’Maybe I need to start doing something. I can’t let Lance influence Theodore even more.’

’But for now, I have to wait and see. Maybe Theo is right, Lance is incompetent, he will screw up, and Theo could finally seize Empress Entertainment,’ Angel thought.

Thus, she calmed down for now, hoping for the best result.

Meanwhile, Madeline fixed her makeup as she was ready for the second scene.

She saw the actor who played Harry getting his expression ready as they were about to enter the second scene. He smiled at Madeline, and Madeline smiled politely, but the moment the director gave them the cue, their expression changed instantly.

—The Liar Husband and Lying Wife, Scene #2—

Renata walked into Harry’s office with the coffee she had just made. She had a big smile, ready to start the day with a kiss from Harry, but when she saw the anger in Harry’s eyes, her smile vanished.

"Your coffee, babe," Renata said as she put the coffee on the desk.

Harry sat on his desk, glaring at Renata, before asking, "What did you tell my wife?"

"Nothing much," Renata replied. "I just told her that you can’t stand her and want to divorce her as soon as possible."

SLAM!

"RENATA!"

Harry snapped and slammed the table, which made Renata flinch.

She was scared for a few seconds because Harry looked like he wanted to murder her.

But she toughened herself, knowing that she wasn’t wrong.

"Did I say something wrong, Harry?" Renata asked. "You told me before that you can’t wait to divorce her. You fucked me and said that I’m so much better because you can’t stand your wife."

"But you went overboard! God, I have a child, Renata!" Harry yelled.

"Then let me take care of that child if you want him, or just give him to Jillian," Renata said. "I don’t understand you, Harry. You told me many times that you hate your wife. But now that I told the truth to her, you said that I went overboard?"

Harry gritted his teeth.

What Renata said was right.

He despised Jillian so much because of her cold and condescending attitude towards him.

No matter what he did, Jillian wouldn’t look happy about his achievements.

Thus, he sought validation from Renata. She was younger, sexier, tighter, and fawned over him like he was some kind of god.

Renata was the perfect woman for him.

But he wasn’t ready to divorce Jillian yet. Something about divorce was so scary for him.

"Listen, Renata, I love you, but you should never get close to my wife again," Harry said. "You’re not supposed to be part of this problem!"

"Oh, really?" Renata scoffed. She maintained her composure, but her heart was burning with jealousy. "How am I not part of the problem when you fucked me in this office? Do you think I’m just some kind of a cheap prostitute you can just fuck whenever you’re in the mood?"

Renata walked around the CEO’s desk and bent down until they had the same eye level. She caressed his jaw and said, "Remember, Harry, I am not a poor skank that you can pay to fuck. I have my money, and the only reason I want to lower myself to be a mere secretary is because I love you."

Harry swallowed his saliva.

That was true.

Renata Glass was the daughter of Mr. Robert Glass, one of his prominent shareholders.

She fell in love with him at first sight and thus asked her father to give her a job as a secretary so she could be closer to Harry.

Thus, although Harry truly saw her as a mere plaything, he knew he couldn’t just kick her out, or he’d lose a very important shareholder in his company.
