Chapter 136: Chapter 136

Henry Grant stared at his sons and muttered,

’Boys, I’m sorry, but I have to resign from my position in the company. I cannot leave your mother while she’s battling cancer.’ Henry stared at Lance and George and said, ’You two should listen to your big brother. He is the most competent, and he knows what to do.’

At that time, Lance was reluctant to accept it because he knew Theodore was under the influence of that cougar, Angel.

Theodore only listened to his fiancee’s words and began to demean Lance and George as two incompetent kids.

But Lance also couldn’t blame his father for trusting everything in Theodore’s hands because Lance was the most rebellious and reckless.

Henry shifted his gaze to his oldest son and said, ’Theo, I trust you to manage our family businesses. I know it’s sudden, but your mother needs me the most right now,’ Henry said. ’And you should take care of your brothers and sister. Treat them well, but make sure to discipline them when necessary.’

’Lastly, don’t fight,’ Henry said. ’Your Mother will be sad knowing that her sons are fighting while she’s trying her best to survive.’

"Go on, punch me, and I will tell Mother how much of a burden you are," Theodore continued, taunting Lance, knowing that Lance wouldn’t dare to do it.

Lance’s hands began to tremble as he remembered his father’s words.

They shouldn’t fight, and he should listen to his big brother.

But what should he do when Theodore is acting like a tyrant?

Theodore saw that Lance’s resolve began to quiver. He scoffed, as he knew that Lance wouldn’t dare punch him.

In the end, Lance released Theodore’s collar and stepped back.

"That’s what I thought," Theodore chuckled, looking at Lance with ridicule. He patted Lance’s shoulder. "Lancelot Grant, you should know your place. You are a wastrel who has no capability of being the CEO of a big entertainment company. So just give it up and do something else. You’re only good at giving our parents a headache."

Theodore was finally satisfied to see that Lance had no intention of fighting him again despite his bubbling anger.

It was obvious because Theodore knew Lance’s weakness.

Lance might look willful and reckless, but he was actually very obedient to their mother. So Theo could always threaten Lance with their mother’s condition to make him stop acting like a hoodlum.

Theodore fixed his collar and tie, then turned around and walked to the elevator. "I’m going back to my office. My secretary will come to talk with you, Mr. Roth."

"T—Thank you, sir! I will make sure your investment will be worthwhile!" Isaac said.

They waited until Theodore entered the elevator and went down, and then they shifted their gaze to Lance.

Isaac, who had always been flattering and nice to Lance before, suddenly changed his attitude.

"Mr. Grant, I don’t remember making an appointment with you. Unless you come unannounced for some reason," Isaac said in an unfriendly tone.

"Don’t worry, I invited him," Zane interrupted. He knew what Lance wanted when he came to this office. He stood in front of Isaac and faced Lance, whose barely concealed rage simmered beneath the surface.

Yet, Zane maintained his composure, saying, "First of all, yes, I told Theodore Grant about your relationship with Maddy. I didn’t know that you’re actually hiding your relationship. I wonder why?" Zane scoffed. "Are you ashamed of Maddy’s scandal? Is that why you don’t want to admit you’re dating her?"

Lance wanted to refute that.

The only reason he hadn’t gone public with Madeline yet was because their whole relationship was based on a contract, and he had to wait until Madeline was infamous enough to announce it boldly to the world.

He wanted to use Madeline as his key to threaten Theodore.

But now that he felt a deeper connection with Maddy, he doubted that he’d be cruel enough to do that.

Nevertheless, Lance still had no intention of telling this scum in front of him the truth.

Zane’s eyes darkened, facing Lance’s silence. "You are sickening, Lancelot Grant. Madeline deserves better than you. She deserves a good man willing to protect her, no matter what. She also deserves a man who will proudly show her to the world. "

"You’re a coward," Zane accused. "And I’m going to take Madeline back. She should’ve been mine to begin with."

"By pressuring her?" Lance sneered. "You’re pressuring her to say yes because she’s in a dire situation. You’re not better than I am. You’re just exploiting her vulnerability, you fucking psycho."

"I need some way to enter her life again. It’s a necessary sacrifice," Zane said coldly. "Maddy will eventually understand that I’m doing this for her. She needs to wake up and realize that you are an asshat."

"So you don’t care if she cries?" Lance clenched his fist again. He was reminded of Madeline’s tears and how he broke her heart when he tricked her.

Zane’s heart was uncomfortable. He knew that Madeline was probably crying right now, regretting her mistake of saying yes to his request.

But he suppressed that guilt since he knew that Madeline would forever ignore him if he didn’t pressure her and publicly announce their’ relationship.’

However, Zane absolutely refused to show any sign of weakness in front of Lance. "And so what if she cries? It’s her mistake for getting herself involved with a bastard like you. It’s a lesson to be learned."

"YOU!"

Unlike with Theodore, Lance didn’t hold back against Zane. He punched Zane in the face, but the latter swiftly dodged.

However, Lance was far more proficient in a fight. He kicked Zane in the gut, and the latter fell on his back immediately.

"Urk! Argh!" The stinging pain in Zane’s stomach made him unable to get up. His face turned red out of pain, but he still glared at Lance while covering his stomach.

"J—Just like what your brother said. You are just a thug born as a rich kid," Zane said while enduring the pain. "You don’t deserve her."
