Chapter 223: Unforgiven

Chapter 223: Chapter 223: Unforgiven

Fu Shihan had been holding back while he was taking medicine just now. He knew that Su Wanxin was not in good health, and he worried about her being vulnerable to viral infections.

But he could hold back no longer.

A sudden kiss, not particularly tender, came out of nowhere.

She could feel her heart racing, closing her eyes, entangled by the breath and the lips—a long-lost familiarity almost dragging her into the mire, sinking deep.

She struggled, climbing up bit by bit, constantly reminding herself to be rational. Then, as he slowly raised his head and left her lips, she reopened her eyes and their gazes met.

"I’m sure, you’ve been lying all along," Fu Shihan told her, word by word, his voice lingering with tenderness, soothing her uneasy heart. "Since the day you returned, you’ve been taking me for a fool."

"I have not."

"You didn’t come back to avenge what happened three years ago; you came to retaliate against me."

Everything she had done since her return was like taking a knife and forcefully stabbing it into his heart.

It was as if she feared he wouldn’t feel the pain, or care, so she kept pushing harder and harder, constantly challenging his patience.

"You know best whether I’m a gentleman or not. Why do you think I allowed you to make a fuss for three months?"

"Because you have no proof. Everyone in the Fu Family, including Aunt Mo, still harbors illusions about me. You still can’t believe that the orphan you’ve raised for over a decade could be an ingrate."

Su Wanxin calmly responded, tilting her head to the side, avoiding his gaze.

"Because I want to know just how big of a fool you think I am."

Fu Shihan lowered his head and kissed her slightly parted lips again.

He felt her struggle and a wave of displeasure surged inside him. He intensified his grip and bit her hard, causing Su Wanxin to instinctively gasp from the pain.

"Tell me, just how long were you unconscious?"

He abruptly shifted back to the original question.

Su Wanxin’s lips hurt, her mind blank, and she shook her head with furrowed brows. "Not very long."

Fu Shihan’s gaze darkened, clearly not believing her answer.

"Zhan Che told me you were unconscious for over a year, Mu Suyu told me you said I never truly loved you. Everyone’s blaming me for not being good enough to you, including yourself."

Su Wanxin felt miserable inside, she bit her lip and forced a smile, asking him: "Even if I was unconscious for over a year, what does that prove? Young Master Fu, what do you mean by saying this? Are you trying to tell me that you are willing to forgive me?"

"I won’t forgive. Because I won’t forgive, I can’t let you die."

Fu Shihan firmly answered her question.

"You know well that living is harder than dying."

Living is harder than dying.

That sentence seemed to strike a chord in Su Wanxin, making her nose tingle and her eyes instantly redden.

"From now on, we will settle our scores one by one.

From your initial refusal to marry me, to your recent attempts to match me with Sheng Qian.

From your suspicions three years ago about Shen and that ugly thing being up to something, to today bringing Zhan Che and Mu Xinghan in front of me to flaunt.

I remember these, not just in my heart but also on paper.

I’ll let you know when you are better, whether or not I truly love you, and how I love you."
