Chapter 143: Chapter 143: Ancestors’ Graves Are About to Emit Green Smoke
Su Wanxin casually picked up a glass of red wine and mingled among the crowd, wondering how Shen Xiaochen would deal with her today.
With so many people watching, she surely couldn’t afford to make an obviously foolish move, right?
"Wanwan? You’re here too!"
Sheng Qian unexpectedly spotted Su Wanxin and pulled Fu Shiyi over to greet her.
Su Wanxin looked at them, smiling amiably. "Miss Sheng, Miss Fu."
"Oh come on, we are all so familiar, don’t be so distant," said Sheng Qian casually, "Aren’t you and Shiyi childhood friends? Don’t call her Miss Fu."
Hearing this, Fu Shiyi huffed coldly and ignored Su Wanxin’s presence.
Su Wanxin stared at her annoyed expression, knowing she was both angry and hateful towards her, yet reluctant to be harsh.
Sheng Qian was right; Su Wanxin had grown up with Fu Shiyi. They were of the same age, went to school together, and played together; Fu Shiyi never treated her like a servant of the Fu family.
The Fu family treated Su Wanxin too well, so well that she didn’t know how to repay them.
Ever since childhood, whatever Fu Shiyi had, there was always a share for her. Perhaps the Fu family, being wealthy, didn’t care much about these gestures, which were merely spontaneous purchases. But to Su Wanxin, all these meant too much.
Su Wanxin still remembered being bullied in elementary school by kids from wealthy families who called her a ’country bumpkin’ and ’hillbilly’, spitting on her.
It was Fu Shiyi who rushed forward without hesitation and beat them up, the only time in all these years Su Wanxin ever saw Fu Shiyi fight.
Fu Shiyi pointed at those bullies, warning that if anyone dared to speak ill of Su Wanxin ever again, she would smash their mouths to pieces.
Who would dare to offend the young Miss of the Fu family? No one. So from then on, Su Wanxin naturally became Fu Shiyi’s best friend, the one everyone else wanted to please.
Thinking of those old times, Su Wanxin couldn’t help feeling a touch of sorrow, her eyes slightly moistening.
She sighed, raised her glass of wine, and drank, laughing as if it didn’t matter, listening to Fu Shiyi mutter that she was "heartless."
"Wanwan, after we finish schmoozing here, shall we find a place to eat some food?" Sheng Qian looked at the two of them, intentionally playing peacemaker.
She believed there must be some misunderstanding about the incident three years ago, and if Su Wanxin could reveal the truth, everything could go back to how it was.
"I wonder if Fu Shihan is free today, how about giving him a call to pick us up later?"
"Fu Shihan went on a business trip this morning, he’s not in Imperial Capital, I have to go home and accompany Yangyang later," Su Wanxin politely declined Sheng Qian’s kind offer, and was about to say more when she caught a glimpse of Shen Xiaochen taking the stage.
She turned her body to look, teasing, "The protagonist has arrived."
Sheng Qian and Fu Shiyi also followed her gaze and then whispered their remarks.
"Making a birthday look like a wedding ceremony, is she afraid she won’t be able to get married?"
Fu Shiyi also laughed seeing Shen Xiaochen’s attire, because it was a simple bridal gown, beautiful yet indeed awkward for a birthday.
"Could it be someone is going to propose to her today?" Sheng Qian asked quietly, then listened as Su Wanxin sarcastically replied.
"If that’s the case, that person must be utterly blind, their ancestors’ graves must be fuming green smoke."
