Sharing Dreams with My Bestie’s Cousin
Chapter 119 - 119 Let Shang Hexing compromise

Chapter 119: Let Shang Hexing compromise Chapter 119: Let Shang Hexing compromise As she spoke, she observed Shang Hexing’s reaction, and seeing that he didn’t express any opinion, she continued, “Next, I might need Mr. Shang’s help.”

When seeking help from someone, attitude is very important.

Therefore, Wen Zhi maintained a very proper demeanor.

She thought that when she asked for help, he might act a bit reserved, but she noticed that after she said those words, there seemed to be a softening in Shang Hexing’s eyes.

“This is the second time you’ve needed my help,” he said.

He didn’t say “ask,” he said “need.”

Wen Zhi’s memory faltered for a moment, “When was the last time?”

Shang Hexing: “Forgotten?”

Wen Zhi’s current memories were all about the days she spent in close contact with him in Lin City; she really couldn’t remember when she had asked him before.

Not until Shang Hexing reminded her, “Baixi Manor.”

A dormant memory suddenly awakened, and Wen Zhi’s face heated up; she even felt like crawling into a hole.

She wondered why she hadn’t thought of it, and realized she had been trying very hard to forget that incident!

“Do you still remember the details? Or, do you need me to help jog your memory?” Shang Hexing said.

Wen Zhi pressed her temples with her hand: “Oh… I remember now.”

Shang Hexing’s lips curved in a smile: “Are you sure you remember?”

Wen Zhi nodded with certainty: “I’m sure, I remember now, no need to remind me further.”

Shang Hexing stopped teasing her: “Tell me about your plan.”

Wen Zhi immediately became serious and revealed her upcoming plans to Shang Hexing in full.

After hearing her out, Shang Hexing’s reaction was very indifferent, which made Wen Zhi unsure whether he would help her.

Actually, even if he didn’t want to help, it wouldn’t really matter; he wasn’t obligated to.

“If Mr. Shang finds it inconvenient, then forget it,” Wen Zhi retracted her previous words, “I’ll handle it myself…”

The rest of her words were cut off halfway when Shang Hexing interrupted her, “I won’t let you put yourself in danger.”

Upon hearing this, Wen Zhi immediately shook her head, “It’s not about putting myself in danger, I have a plan.”

Shang Hexing’s expression grew even colder: “Your plan doesn’t convince me.”

Wen Zhi knew he probably wouldn’t help; his statement about not letting her put herself in danger was likely just an excuse to refuse politely.

“Alright then,” she lowered her head in reflection, it seemed she would have to rely on herself.

Shang Hexing extended his hand to capture Wen Zhi’s chin, forcing her to lift her head: “Wen Zhi, are my words not clear enough?”

Wen Zhi blinked her puzzled almond eyes.

He enunciated each word carefully: “I will not indulge you going into danger, even if you could guarantee safety one hundred percent.”

Wen Zhi stayed silent, not saying another word for a long while.

Chen Jinhai’s voice came from ahead: “Mr. Shang, the mistress has sent someone to look for Miss Wen.”

Wen Zhi snapped back to reality, tilted her head, and withdrew her chin from his grasp: “I should go over there.”

She had only taken two steps back when Shang Hexing stretched out his hand and pulled her back.

“Mr. Shang!” Wen Zhi bumped into his embrace.

He naturally wrapped his arms around her waist, his grip surprisingly forceful, and Chen Jinhai, witnessing this scene, tactfully averted his gaze elsewhere.

The look on Shang Hexing’s face was far from pleasant: “You’re not allowed to go anywhere; just stay with me obediently.”

His attitude said it all; he would not let her carry out her plan, he would not let her put herself in danger.

He wasn’t willing to gamble, not even a little bit.

Wen Zhi stretched out his arm, but her strength was like an ant trying to shake a tree in front of him, which made her very annoyed. “You don’t respect my thoughts at all.”

Shang Hexing sneered, his eyes growing even colder. “Does this matter need respect?”

Wen Zhi knew he was angry, and she was just as angry!

Just a second ago, they were talking amicably, with her offering her best attitude, begging for his help. If he didn’t want to help, that was one thing, but he had no right to restrict her decisions and take it upon himself to change her mind.

“I’m not your subordinate, nor do I have to rely on you. I asked for your help with sincere intentions. Whether you help or not is your own business, but you can’t interfere with me,” Wen Zhi stated stubbornly.

Shang Hexing’s expression did not improve at all; in fact, it worsened. He let go of her, throwing two words at her. “As you wish.”

Wen Zhi’s chest heaved violently, and in the end, she said nothing more and turned to leave.

Shang Hexing watched Wen Zhi’s departing figure, his eyes dark and profound, filled with complex emotions, including the concern that she had so scornfully dismissed.

“Truly heartless.”

Chen Jinhai wasn’t too far away and had heard the whole commotion, leaving him quite puzzled. Just a second ago, Miss Wen and Mr. Shang seemed to be embracing each other so affectionately, and the next, they were arguing???

Ah, this…

He looked again at Mr. Shang’s face.

Chen Jinhai couldn’t help but admire Wen Zhi from the bottom of his heart, and at the same time, he was curious: What exactly did Miss Wen say to make the usually composed Mr. Shang look so sour?

“Mr. Shang, shall we go back, or…?” Chen Jinhai was unsure of Shang Hexing’s mood and didn’t dare to ask more.

Shang Hexing didn’t say anything, remaining silent for a long time.

It wasn’t until Wen Zhi’s figure disappeared from sight that his concern finally overtook everything else, and he instructed Chen Jinhai, “Get ready.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jinhai instantly became fully alert.

Wen Zhi returned to the Horse Farm.

Under the enormous lace parasol in the distance, a group of noble ladies was drinking coffee.

Wen Zhi walked towards Chong Wanyin along with the person who had come to find her.

At that moment, Chong Wanyin was chatting happily with someone, her face full of smiles, when a voice reached her. “Mrs. Shang, Miss Wen is coming.”

Chong Wanyin turned her head at the sound, her gaze falling on Wen Zhi. She smiled and said softly, “I heard you were unwell, are you alright?”

Wen Zhi shook her head. “It’s nothing serious, I just took a rest, and I’m much better now.”

Chong Wanyin picked up a small clip, took a sugar cube, and dropped it into her coffee. Then, she gently stirred the coffee with a spoon in one direction.

After doing this, she took a sip of her coffee. “I’m glad it’s nothing. It’s also my oversight; I forgot you just came back from Lin City. You might not have had enough rest.”

Wen Zhi smiled gently. “Thank you for your concern, Madam.”

Chong Wanyin placed the coffee cup down and stood up to approach Wen Zhi. “The incident just now must have scared you, right?”

A flicker of fright passed through Wen Zhi’s eyes. “It was quite frightening.”

Chong Wanyin smiled gently and took Wen Zhi’s hand. “You were scared, so do you still dare to ride a horse afterwards?”

Wen Zhi hesitated and did not answer.

Chong Wanyin then said, “You’re not feeling well and got frightened. Don’t ride today.”

Wen Zhi shook her head firmly. “No!”

Her voice was very determined.

“I was a bit frightened.” The next sentence, Wen Zhi spoke with conviction. “And I’m feeling much better physically. As for the fright, it really wasn’t much. It can’t be an excuse to shy away.”

Chong Wanyin suddenly smiled, gently patting the back of Wen Zhi’s hand. “Zhizhi, with a personality like yours, you’re really likable.”

Wen Zhi lowered her head, effectively masking the emotions in her eyes, and pretended to smile shyly.
