Chapter 60 - 58 | Not the Color Blue

Chapter 60: 58 | Not the Color Blue

Winter was truly fucked, no doubt. Yes, he acted out of line. Reason, he didn’t know. He acted out of line because he wasn’t thinking. He had just wanted to... Winter didn’t even know what he wanted to achieve.

If Blue had actually talked to him instead of being his usual defensive and stubborn self, maybe Winter wouldn’t have had to yell nonsense into the ears of other people.

"What- what’s going on?" Adam was the first to speak out after Blue left, standing in front of Winter.

As for Winter, he was still recovering from the pain on his crotch courtesy of Blue. He managed to suck up the hurt and straighten his back, composing himself with a ’natural’ smile on his lips.

"Exactly what you think," Winter said with a casual tone, making use of the fact that he knew that everyone in Dot’s Café was listening to his words and probably even recording them.

"I like Blue." Winter added, conjuring the most sincere expression he had in his arsenal.

"Like Blue as in..." Adam trailed off, waiting for Winter to clarify what he meant by his statement.

By liking Blue, did Winter mean he liked the color blue? Or was Blue some kind of brand clothing line?

Those were the thoughts that were going through Adam’s head as he spoke. His mind didn’t even lead him to think that maybe Winter saying he liked Blue meant just that—Winter liked Blue.

"I am attracted to him in every way and would like to build a romantic relationship with him." Winter said with pink-tinted cheeks as he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

Adam was blown away by Winter’s words. Oliver, who hadn’t said anything for a while, was compelled to question Winter after he heard his words.

"So you’re saying that you like Blue? As in, like like him? In a romantic way? Blue Kent, not the color blue?" Oliver stuttered a few times as he said those words.

Because of his words, a severe expression settled on Winter’s face as he said, "Yes, I like Blue Kent very much. Is there a problem with that?"

Everyone shifted their eyes away from Winter after hearing those words.

Was there a problem with Winter liking Blue?

’Yes!’ Adam thought.

There was a huge problem, even. Out of all the people in the entire world, why did it have to be Blue whom Winter chose to like and confess to publicly?

It wasn’t like Adam was greatly astounded by the fact that Blue could be romantically liked by a person. It was the fact that Winter was that very person.

Adam couldn’t remember a single moment where he had been in the same place with the two of them at the same time and Blue would behave in a way that would trigger Winter’s liking for him.

Most of the time, Blue was straightforwardly mean to Winter and tended to ignore him whenever he would attempt to get too close.

And now, Winter was saying that he liked Blue. How was that even possible??

"You do know that Blue is... Blue, right? And that you’re an Alpha, don’t you?" Adam spoke to Winter with an extremely concerned tone.

Everyone knew what Blue was like. And they knew that he despised Alphas no matter who they were and where they came from.

If there was an examination to qualify for having a relationship with Blue, Winter would fail even without taking the exam because he would not be permitted to take it as he was an Alpha.

And Winter... Though Adam found it a little bit cute that Winter liked Blue, he was very worried. For Blue.

Winter was Velas City’s very own favorite heartthrob. He was everyone’s friend and everyone’s secret or open crush. There were so many high-profile people who chased after him and they all contended for him with respect for each other.

This was because they didn’t know if the person they were contending against was Winter’s ideal person or not. So there was no need for dispute amongst those who liked them.

He gave his attention to everyone equally.

However, if people were to find out that the type of person Winter had an affinity for and truly liked was Blue, it would be no joke to say that a war was likely to break out.

Blue was Blue. To everyone, he was an egoistic snub who was unpleasant in every way other than the physical aspect. He acted as though he was higher than everyone and stuck up his nose wherever he went.

Adam could already see people bashing Blue for being the object of Winter’s desire.

Blue was the sort of person who pretended as if the public’s opinion of him didn’t matter. But it did. To him, it did.

And Winter was the kind of person that the public could never find a flaw with in his doings.

It was truly a tragic dynamic, Adam thought. Blue was truly in trouble this time.

***

By the time Blue reached his house, his fit had already ended. He couldn’t remember how he had managed to conquer it, but he was fine now. Blue kicked off his shoes and flung his bag away before collapsing on his bed when he got to his room.

He reached for a pillow and pulled it closer to hug, pressing his face against the top.

All he could think of was, ’Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkk...’

Blue would have never imagined that Winter would pull such a basic dirtbag move on him. Confessing? In public? What could be worse than that?

And the fact that Winter had the audacity to pretend as if he was being sincere. That was the most annoying and infuriating part.

If he was being sincere, he wouldn’t have ’confessed’ in such a way at all. Blue didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry. Winter was truly the best at stirring complex emotions inside him.

Blue hugged the pillow tighter, hating that he was mulling over Winter’s scumbag behavior. The guy truly had no redeeming qualities.

The more Blue tried to find gentleness and reason in his actions, the more Blue realized that there was truly no more to Winter than what was on the surface.

And Blue hated the fact that he had even been trying to convince himself that Winter wasn’t that bad!

Was it because of what Winter had done for him that day he was drugged? Not laying a finger on him and booking a room next door to pose as security?

Or was it because Winter had a way with words and was always ready to be honest when he was asked to?

Blue didn’t know. He didn’t know anything anymore. It was just annoying to him that if Winter were to be any other Alpha, he would have cut them off right from the start.

But because Winter was himself, Blue wasn’t strong-willed enough to do as his sense of logic wanted him to.

Just as Blue had that thought, he began to hear a buzzing noise. At first, he thought that it was the sound of his alarm as he crawled to the head of his bed to reach the side stand and turn off the alarm.

He only realized that the sound was coming from his phone which was inside his bag when he saw the screen light up repeatedly through the material of his bag from the corner of his eyes.

"Who the fuck is it?" Blue asked the air, forcing himself up from the bed to pick his bag from the floor and bring out his phone.

After looking at his screen and discovering that he was being bombarded with texts from Winter, Blue had the strong urge to throw his phone against the wall so that it would shatter into pieces.

However, he couldn’t bring himself to do it as a particular message continuously flashed on his screen.

[I’m sorry.]

Blue opened his message app and saw that Winter had sent that one text almost a million times in the past minute.

"This fucking asshole..." Blue said, staring at the screen as the messages kept coming on and on.

It was only after the messages had gotten to an uncountable amount that Winter actually sent a text that was compiled with reasonable words.

[I fucked up. Shouldn’t have confessed to you publicly like a fool. I should know very well that you hate that kind of stuff. I was just being... stupid.]

Another one came in after that.

[You deserve a proper confession. And one from someone who isn’t like me. I’m really sorry for being stupid. Are you okay? You looked unwell earlier. I was too busy being stupid to consider that you weren’t alright.]

Then another.

[There’s a problem with your pheromones, isn’t there? Let me apologize to you properly. I’ll do anything you ask me to do to help you. And I promise not to pull off such a stupid stunt again.]

The moment Blue read the word, ’help’, he remembered all the times that Winter had ’helped’ him.

Blue didn’t know it yet, but he was just as fucked as Winter.

Author has something to say: Time for Blue to fall in love. This is going to be so traumatizing to write from both of their povs with Winter fully knowing that Blue is falling for him and Blue thinking that Winter is falling for him too. Oh gosh.🥲🥲
