Chapter 54 - 52 | Sick in the Head
Chapter 54: 52 | Sick in the Head
After surviving the fit, Blue was ashamed of himself. His floor was a mess. He, himself, was also a mess. Blue felt foolish.
He hated that he had lost control of himself. Hated that he wasn’t strong enough to keep his own self orderly and composed. Blue wiped himself down and put a hoodie over the area on the floor he had dirtied—the literal act of covering up his mess and hoping it would go away.
Then he picked up his phone and removed it from airplane mode. Almost immediately, a call came through his phone line. Surprisingly, it was from Winter.
Blue’s thumb hovered over the green accept button. But after the fourth ring, he tapped on the red decline button. About to throw his phone on the couch, Winter called again.
Blue scrunched up his face in annoyance.
"Fuck you!" Blue snapped at his phone, declining the call.
Not surprisingly this time, Winter called again. Blue was about to tap on the decline button, however, as if fate was against him, his thumb slid to the other side and he accepted the call.
Blue quickly wanted to terminate the call before Winter would notice that it went through, but he was one second too late.
"Where are you?" Winter said with a deep voice, skipping formalities for some reason.
Blue frowned, putting the phone to his ear before saying, "None of your business."
"Don’t talk like that to me. Where are you? Right now." Winter was sounding so serious that Blue had to remove the phone from his ear and look at the caller’s ID to make sure that he was really speaking to Winter.
Who did Winter think he was to speak to him in such a manner? Blue was utterly confused and annoyed.
"You must be out of your fucking mind," was all Blue said before terminating the call and flinging his phone to the couch.
Then he stretched his arms and walked deeper into his home, going to the bedroom and making his way to the bathroom so that he could shower.
It was a brief shower as Blue didn’t wish to linger under the water. He stepped out and lazily slipped into a bathrobe.
He was about to call it a day and collapse on his bed when he heard a pounding sound coming from his front door.
"Who the fuck is it now?" Blue asked himself, angrily stomping to the living room to open the door.
It had become a stupid habit of Blue’s never to check who was on the other side of his door by looking through the peephole. So, Blue swung the front door without a thought and was ready to swing it back shut when he saw who was standing on the other side of the door.
Once again, he was a step too late.
"Are you okay??" Winter asked, invading Blue’s home by stepping in without an invitation.
Blue was dumbfounded. He couldn’t remember what gave Winter the audacity to show up at his place unannounced and even invite himself in. Was Winter at the wrong place or something?
"The fuck..." Blue said with a lost tone, trying to understand what was happening to him.
Winter shut the door behind him and grabbed one of Blue’s arms.
"I’ve been worried about you all day and you’re here having the time of your life!" Winter accused Blue, taking in the bath robe he was wearing and how relaxed his body was looking.
"Who the fuck cares about your worries? What are you doing at my house? And let me go!" Blue said all of this whilst struggling to rip his arm free of Winter’s merciless grip.
"... You’re not in heat..." Winter said with a tone that was filled with disbelief, his grip on Blue’s arm slowly loosening.
"Of course, I’m not!" Blue bit out, aggressively pulling back his arm to his side after receiving the slightest opportunity.
"But I thought—"
"Are you sick in the head? What are you doing here?!" Blue demanded from Winter.
However, Winter couldn’t utter a single word. He had come to this location with the mind that Blue was in serious danger.
After accessing the scene in front of him, Winter was sure that there was nothing physically wrong with Blue or his surroundings. If there were to be anything wrong with what was going on right now, it’d be from Winter.
He had come here announced and barged in like he owned the place. How could he explain to Blue in a way that Blue would understan he was worried which was what brought him here?
He was not just worried. He was scared. Terrified that Blue was experiencing the same thing as last time and that someone else had stumbled across him to see him in a such state.
How could Winter explain to Blue that the idea of Blue being vulnerable in front of another person that was not himself was truly nightmare to him?
"If you’re not in heat, then what’s wrong with you? Why were you that way earlier today? And why did you lie to Adam about it?" Winter finally began to put his brain to good use.
After Blue had walked out on him and the nurse, Winter had wanted to chase after Blue but was delayed by the lecture given to him by the nurse for raising ’false alarms’.
By the time he was free and ready to begin the search for Blue, Blue had long already left campus.
And Winter couldn’t contact Blue at that time because he had not yet gotten Blue’s new number. Winter had to force himself to attend the Empowerment club’s meeting just so he could get the opportunity to talk to Adam and find out what was wrong with Blue.
However, to Winter’s surprise, Adam had absolutely no idea of what was happening with Blue.
Mini theater:
Winter: Why aren’t you in heat?
Blue: ???
Winter: Are you okay?
Blue: ???
Winter: Okay then, I’ll help you.
Blue: ???
