Chapter 47: 45 | Pinky Promise
"Who is Winter Dumont..." Blue said with a thinking voice, rubbing his chin.
"Winter Dumont is an egotistic coward who has no opinion of his own and depends on other people’s view of him to survive. His only redeemable trait is that he stands by his principles. They’re not very moral principles, but still." Blue said.
Winter’s jaw fell open at just the first sentence. However, Blue wasn’t done with his analysis just yet.
"He’s very committed to his goals and shows signs of psychopathy. Shows signs, I’m not really a mental health doctor so I can’t tell if it’s really a medical issue or just something he likes to portray. But... he’s not wicked. Though most of his kind and considerate actions are just for display, they don’t come from a place of disregard.
"They might sprout from the need to achieve whatever goal he has, however, his goals are not malicious enough to classify him as a completely terrible person." After Blue said his last word, he poured wine into his glass and sipped on it.
Winter was dumbfounded by Blue’s analysis of him. Blue hadn’t even mentioned anything about his handsome face or intelligence or overall perfect being. Was Blue oblivious to his entire essence!?
"Hm..." Winter could only let out a hum, swallowing the thoughts running in his head.
"Prepare to read about yourself becoming an Omega." Blue said, there was a slightly malicious smile playing on his lips.
Blue’s book was essentially about an Alpha mutating into an Omega. And said Alpha was going to be an embodiment of Winter. A shiver ran down Winter’s spine as he imagined himself as an Omega.
Being on the receiving end... Winter rebuked every form of it happening to him in real life.
Then he thought of something and said aloud, "You didn’t complete your analysis."
Blue raised a brow in question.
"You talked personality-wise. You didn’t say anything about my physical appearance." As Winter ended his words, his lips curved upwards into a smirk.
Blue gave Winter a deadpan stare, as if asking, ’Really?’
Winter nodded his head and said with his eyes, ’Really.’
Blue sighed before saying, "You’re a sucker for praise, aren’t you?"
"Can’t say I’m not." Winter raised his hands in surrender.
Blue emptied his glass of wine and said, "You’re really a ’Sunshine Prince’. If anything, you fit into the physical descriptions of fairytale prince charmings. There’s not a single flaw in your facial structure. And your figure is... good."
There was a hesitation in Blue’s last sentence that caused Winter confusion. Winter couldn’t tell that Blue had imagined him without his top on, standing behind him and doing things that one couldn’t do in public.
"Your beauty mark is also nice. The location is pretty and attractive." Blue said with a rushed tone before pouring down the last content of the wine bottle into his glass and emptying the entire thing in one go.
At the end of all this, there was already a bright smile on Winter’s face. One that he couldn’t reduce or hide even if he tried to.
It was clear that Blue had a very nice impression of his face. Heck, he even found it attractive! Blue also viewed his personality in a semi-positive light. What did this mean?
It meant that there was a chance for him in Blue’s life! And it wasn’t as miniscule as he had expected it to be. There was a very good chance!
Everything depended on how he would play his cards and win Blue over completely.
"Is there another of this?" Blue suddenly asked, pointing at the empty bottle of wine.
Winter only smiled and raised a finger. Then he came off his chair and headed to the backroom to get another bottle. Winter was half tempted to lace the bottle, but discouraged himself of the idea after remembering the reason why Blue was even in his property to begin with.
He brought back a bottle of wine with a higher alcohol percentage instead. Blue didn’t really care about this. After all, he was here to drink away his problems, wasn’t he?
The two of them continued with their idle conversation, never touching serious aspects and doing their best to steer off vividly sexual topics.
That was until when they got to their sixth or seventh bottle and things became hazy.
"Why do you... always have to be so strict with yourself and others?" Winter asked Blue, there was a slur to his tone.
At this time, they were both sitting cross-legged across each other on the floor. Both of their cheeks were flushed and their hairs were disheveled, along with their clothes. This was because they had previously dragged for who would get the last drop of wine of their seventh bottle.
"Wh-what do you mean?" Blue responded to Winter’s question, leaning forward shakily.
"Are you really asking that question?! You literally wore a bathing suit underneath your clothes to a pool party! How could you have predicted that you would get pushed into the pool and soak your clothes?!
"Also, why don’t you ever talk to people before they talk to you? Must you- must you wait till someone has something to say to you before you say something to them?!" Winter fired, adding a few meaningless words after his questions.
Blue looked at him dryly before saying, "For the pool thing, I always wear bathing suits underneath my clothes whenever I attend a pool party. It’s common law for sensible Omegas." Blue added an eye-roll to his last sentence.
Then he said, "Why should I talk to people before they talk to me? What if they think I’m saying nonsense and walk away from me??"
In-between laughs, Winter responded with, "If you don’t say nonsense, why will people think you’re saying nonsense??"
Blue turned his head away from Winter, and with a pout on his lips, he muttered, "People always think I’m saying nonsense and walk away from me."
"I won’t walk away from you." Winter piped up after a beat.
Blue turned back to face Winter with bright eyes. "Really??"
"I promise."
Blue frowned after hearing those words, confusing Winter.
"What? What’s wrong?" Winter questioned.
"Alphas always promise and fail. You’re an Alpha. You can’t keep a promise." Blue’s frown deepened as he spoke.
Winter’s brain paused before he could understand what Blue was trying to say. After a moment, he stretched his hand towards Blue and stuck out his pinky finger.
"Let’s pinky promise. I won’t ever walk away from you. Trust me."
Blue still looked skeptical about Winter’s resolve.
"If I ever break the promise, I give you the authority to bash my head against any wall of your choosing."
This was what finally wore Blue down as he crossed his pinky finger with Winter’s own.
"Now, let’s seal it with a kiss." Winter said before Blue was able to retract his finger.
Then he kissed Blue’s finger, causing a shift in the atmosphere.
