Chapter 29: 28 | Sunshine Prince
[Why are you ignoring me???]
Blue tapped on the message and saw dozens more before it.
[Hi. You left so suddenly yesterday. I didn’t get to ask you about a few things.]
[You said we were going to meet up on weekends. Today’s Friday. What time are we meeting up? And where?]
[Hellooooo?]
[This is the correct number, isn’t it? This is Blue Kent?]
[I hope you don’t want us to meet at midnight. Hehe.]
[Hey.]
[Hi.]
[Hello.]
[Blue???]
Blue sighed and shook his head as he saw more texts like that. He looked at the time. It was already 4 PM.
What the hell? He thought it was still morning. Had the suppressants knocked him out so heavily??
"Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?" Blue said to Oliver through gritted teeth, standing up to his feet.
Oliver was already back in the kitchen. He glanced at Blue with an apologetic look on his face and said, "I didn’t know you had something to do today."
Blue frowned and said, "You said my phone has been buzzing all morning. Shouldn’t it be obvious that someone was um, maybe, trying to reach me??"
Blue’s voice was raised by an octave. Oliver turned off the gas and looked at Blue with an unamused expression on his face.
"Stop yelling at me like that. I did try to wake you up but you were knocked out cold, and didn’t budge when I sprinkled water on your face. You would think it’s my fault when you were the one who overdozed on suppressants!" Oliver matched Blue’s pitch.
Blue’s shoulders relaxed.
He suddenly didn’t know what to say anymore.
"I didn’t want to talk about it, but since you’re being this way, I guess I just have to. Blue..." Oliver’s voice dropped.
"You have to stop doing this. This is not the way things used to be. Care about yourself a little more. Please." His voice was filled with vivid pleas.
"I’ve told you before, I’m fine. In fact, I’m better. You can leave." Blue’s tone was ice cold.
Oliver’s eyes widened for a second. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out, so he had to close it back up, tightening his fists.
"Close the door on your way out." Blue said with a dismissive tone as he walked out of the living room and over to his bedroom.
He had just stepped in and shut the door when he heard the sound of the front door getting slammed. It caused him to flinch a little bit, but he composed himself a second after.
Then he sent a text to Winter.
[I wasn’t ignoring you. Meet me here.]
Blue sent Adam’s location to Winter after that text. He wasn’t going to invite Winter to his own home. The guy was an Alpha. An extremely Dominant Alpha at that.
And also, Adam had basically volunteered for his home to be used. There was nothing more he wanted than for the ’Sunshine Prince’ of Chestfield to walk the floors of his home.
Stupid, yes. But Adam’s benevolence was well needed in this case.
Winter didn’t respond to Blue’s text immediately. Maybe he was being given a cold shoulder for leaving Winter hanging.
No way. Blue pushed that thought out of his head, then went to freshen up and change into fresh clothes.
After he was ready, he checked his phone and saw that Winter had responded.
[OK.]
It was such a dry response, but it was still a response, wasn’t it?
Blue got on the road to Adam’s house. It was not too far from his, so after ten minutes, he was knocking on Adam’s door. It took Adam less than a second to come up to the door and open it.
"Hi! Welcome to my- oh, it’s just you." The excitement in Adam’s voice and face died down once he saw that it was only Blue.
"Well, sorry it’s just me." Blue said with a deadpan voice, rolling his eyes.
Adam widened the door and Blue walked in. The first thing that Blue noticed was the smell of Adam’s house that caused him to cough.
"What the fuck, man? What’s this shit in the air??" Blue exclaimed, waving the air around him.
"It’s scented lavender and rose candles. Show some respect." Adam walked over to Blue as he responded.
"Why??"
"I want the Sunshine Prince to know that my place smells good, that’s why." Adam said with a ’duh’ tone.
"Adam, open your windows. This is too much. Jeez. I feel like gagging every time I open my mouth." Blue said with a serious voice.
"Then just keep your mouth closed." Adam humphed.
Blue wanted to smack Adam’s mouth for saying those words, but the sound of a knock on the door caused him not to. Adam’s eyes brightened up and he rushed to the door.
Blue used the opportunity to ventilate the house by opening the windows and blowing out the ’scented candles’.
As soon as Blue finished doing those things, he heard:
"Hey."
The voice was smooth and deep. Blue turned to look at Winter. His face was very relaxed and his temperament was stable. Blue wondered if it was the same person who was standing in front of him that sent all those whiny texts.
"Hey." Blue said.
"Hey." Adam suddenly added.
Blue and Winter turned to look at him.
"Since you’re both hey-ing, I thought I’d join in." Adam said straightforwardly.
Blue mentally facepalmed himself. Then he turned to Winter and said, "Let’s get settled."
Winter nodded, already walking to sit down on one of the eccentrically decorated chairs in the living room when he heard Adam say, "Do you want anything? Water? Wine? Me? Hehe. I’m just kidding."
Blue mentally facepalmed himself once again.
Winter only chuckled in response to Adam’s poor attempt at flirting and waved the question off, saying, "Nothing for now. I’m good."
Adam was a bit disappointed at that response as his shoulders visibly fell. Blue began to regret hosting this meeting in Adam’s house as he sat down across from Winter.
Then Blue pulled out his laptop from his bag, as well as a notepad and a pen. He put the laptop aside for the meantime and held onto the notepad.
Blue cleared his throat and focused on Winter, saying, "I’m going to ask you a few questions. Answer as honestly and detailed as you can, okay?"
Winter nodded. "Of course."
Suddenly, Blue realized that there was something not right with the atmosphere. He turned and saw someone by the side smiling brightly.
Blue frowned at Adam. "You can leave the room now."
Adam made a hurt expression on his face, "Why?"
Blue gave him a look that said, ’You know why!’
The questions that Blue was going to ask were going to be very personal and in-depth. If Adam was in the room with them, it would make the atmosphere twice as awkward as it should be.
Adam seemed to have realized this as a pout set on his face.
With a reluctant tone, he said, "Fine. Fine. I’m going."
Adam went over to pick up his headphones that were sitting on the table, then he walked over to his room.
It was only Blue and Winter now. There was a sudden shift in the air with only the two of them sitting.
The image of the blond blurry-faced imaginary man suddenly came into Blue’s head, but he quickly pushed it away. This was not the time to be thinking about that.
Blue cleared his throat and said, "Tell me about the day you manifested as an Extremely Dominant Alpha."
