Shades of Blue (Omegaverse BL) -
Chapter 104 - 102 | Curiosity
Chapter 104: 102 | Curiosity
It was out of excitement. The person went up to their table; a girl in her teenage years probably. Her eyes were fixed on Kendall as she stared at him with adoration.
"Hi! Oh my gosh, I can’t believe that it’s you. Please—"
"Shhhhh." Kendall lifted a finger to his mouth as he shushed the girl, getting her to keep quiet.
There were people glancing their way after hearing her scream.
"Calm down." Kendall said to her.
The girl was forced to cover her mouth with her palm to prevent herself from screaming once again. Right on cue, the waitress returned to serve their orders.
Once that was out of the way, the girl resumed bubbling with excitement. Though she was whispering, she might as well have been talking on a loud volume as she squatted down beside Kendall and brought out a book from the school bag hanging around her shoulders.
"Can I get an autograph, please? I promise not to disturb you after this." The girl pleaded with a desperate tone.
Blue watched this scene happen in front of him with furrowed brows. Was Kendall a famous person? If he was, then it made sense why he had decided to disguise himself before they went out.
Not that the disguise worked anyway.
Blue looked at Kendall seriously. At the same time, Kendall glanced his way and bowed his head in apology.
"I’m sorry, I’ll be quick." Kendall excused, then quickly signed the book the girl brought out.
It was then that she brought out other things for him to sign, forgetting to be discreet. Kendall was forced to do all that she wanted from him, only refusing to remove his disguise and take a photo with her.
Once all of that was done, the girl asked, "Are you ever going to come back? We miss you."
Blue’s face was completely painted with confusion at this point. What exactly was Kendall famous for?
"Ah, thank you. But I don’t have any plans to return in the future." Kendall spoke with a hint of regret in his tone.
The girl was saddened to hear his words that she could only say ’oh’ before disappearing from their sight.
In her absence, Kendall turned back to face Blue and apologized again.
"What do you do?" Blue didn’t refrain from indulging in his curiosity.
"Nothing at the moment." Kendall responded, sliding down his mask to his jaw and taking a sip of his coffee before quickly putting it on again.
Kendall was well aware that he hadn’t properly answered Blue’s question which prompted him to receive a frown on Blue’s face.
"That’s not what I asked. Are you an idol or something?" Blue questioned.
It would make sense if Kendall was one. He had the face of an idol. And Blue didn’t keep on with the trends so he wouldn’t be able to recognize Kendall if he was an idol.
However, Blue was surprised that he was wrong when Kendall shook his head in disagreement.
"I’m not an idol. I’m- I was a former gymnast." Kendall choked out the rest of his words as his gaze shifted to his thighs.
Blue raised a brow in curiosity. "International?"
"Olympic medalist." Kendall clarified.
Blue’s eyes widened when he heard those words and he unconsciously sat up straight on the chair he had been relaxing on all this time.
"Really?" Blue questioned.
Kendall nodded shyly.
"Impressive," Blue commented, sliding a scone into his mouth. He downed it with a sip of black coffee before asking, "Why’d you quit?"
Blue’s question caused the atmosphere around them to shift considerably. Kendall’s shoulders visibly trembled as he cleared his throat.
"It was a personal decision." Kendall spoke with a small voice.
Blue became intrigued after hearing that, forgetting to stay out of someone else’s business and personal bubble.
He leaned forward and asked, "Does it have anything to do with an Alpha?"
Kendall reflexively pulled out his shades and brought his face closer to Blue’s face and suspiciously said, "Who told you that??"
After asking that question did Kendall regain composure and coughed lightly to clear his throat. He leaned back on his chair and awkwardly said, "I mean, not really. Partially, maybe. No. No. No."
Blue nodded his head in understanding. He found himself becoming interested in the Omega seated in front of him.
"Do you miss it?" Blue suddenly asked.
"Huh?"
"Do you miss the sport?" Blue expatiated.
"Oh. Yeah. I mean, why not? I used to like it and a small part of me is always going to miss it. But it’s not really my thing now." Kendall’s tone wasn’t really convincing.
Blue remembered what he said about him quitting being a personal reason so he decided to reel in his curiosity and keep it to himself.
"So, what about you? What do you do?" Kendall steered the topic of conversation away from him and towards Blue.
Blue sighed and relaxed into his chair once again before answering.
"A little bit of this and that. I write." Blue added the last part as an afterthought.
He had once told himself that after writing, ’Guide to Living as an Omega’, he would quit writing and find something else to do. Winter had got him involved in the adaptation to see if he could steer his career path towards screenplay writing.
But it was obvious that Blue was not going to take that path. Too many people. Too many Alphas to deal with. Writing was quiet and peaceful.
He didn’t have to constantly push away annoying people clinging to him and it was satisfying to see a page filled with words. Blue wasn’t very satisfied when actors played out a scene well.
The feelings were different.
During his time on set, Blue sometimes regretted ever starting as he missed writing.
"Write? As in blogs or poems?" Kendall questioned, finally taking off his mask to concentrate on what he ordered.
"Full length novels." Blue answered.
"Wow. That’s incredible." Kendall said but his enthusiasm sounded false.
Blue raised a brow at the reaction.
Kendall’s ears tinted pink as he rubbed the back of his neck and confessed, "I’m not really a reader. I prefer watching movies."
Blue nodded. He could totally understand. Which made him say, "A novel of mine is going through a live adaptation."
Those words of his seemed to amaze Kendall more than any other of his other words.
"Really? Really? What’s the name? Who are the actors? When’s it coming out? What’s it about?" Kendall’s hazel eyes brightened up as he spoke with excitement.
Blue found his reaction a bit funny, making him chuckle a bit before responding.
"Guide to Living as an O-"
"Ahhhhh!" Kendall squealed, causing Blue to flinch.
Once again, they were the center of attention in the café. And this time, with the mask missing on Kendall’s face, people recognized him and began to make moves to come closer.
Kendall sensed this immediately, causing him to slap money on the table, grab Blue’s hand and take him running out of the café.
"What are you doing??" Blue demanded as he was forced out of the café to break into a sprint.
"Running!" Kendall responded in a fleeting tone before coming to a halt when he was sure that there was no one behind them.
By that time, Blue was already breathing heavily, feeling as though his entire body was about to give up on him. On the other hand, Kendall was feeling okay with the rush of adrenaline still fresh in his system.
When he glanced back and saw that Blue was in a miserable state compared to him, he shriveled up with guilt and bent down to pat Blue’s back in comfort.
"Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. I forgot that you were sick and made you run. I should’ve just carried you on my back." Kendall spoke with an apologetic tone.
Through his tiredness and dizziness, Blue glanced at Kendall. He didn’t say anything but the look in his eyes spoke volumes, saying, ’How would that be better??’
"Um..." Kendall didn’t know what to do. The main reason why he had taken Blue out was to apologize for disturbing him now he had annoyed him once again, how was he going to apologize to him now??
"It’s fine." Blue said, shaking Kendall’s hand off his back and standing upright. He was still heaving and he felt his pheromones leak unconsciously.
Kendall also seemed to sense it. He immediately stuffed his hand into the bag he was wearing and brought out a small bottle.
"Suppressants. Are you okay?" Kendall said as he handed the bottle to Blue.
Blue refused him, taking out his own bottle. Kendall’s mouth made an ’O’ as he blushed with embarrassment.
"Do you have pheromone disorder?" Kendall asked with concern, guessing that was the only reason why Blue’s pheromones would come out at such a time.
It was only after he asked the question that he realized it was inappropriate and quickly covered his mouth with his palm.
"I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have—"
"I do." Blue answered without a thought, surprising Kendall.
Blue’s disorder wasn’t necessarily a secret and it didn’t matter who he told now. After all, the only person that could help him didn’t care anymore.
Author’s note: Have you guys noticed that in the past few Chapters where Winter didn’t appear, Blue’s life has relatively been peaceful??
