Secretly Mine
Chapter 189: Difficulties

Chapter 189: Difficulties

I woke up feeling like a zombie again. It seemed that my body could no longer relax, as it continuously craved a certain kind of release.

After tossing and turning for what felt like an eternity, I only managed to fall asleep after achieving my own weak orgasm.

Though I ended up getting over five hours of sleep, it felt like I only got five minutes.

"I need to do something about this soon. Waking up like this really sucks," I grumbled as I got out of bed. All of my movements were sluggish, so it took me longer than normal to get ready this morning.

The worst part was the lingering desire that continued to gnaw away at me. Even showering was difficult as my body seemed to be more sensitive than usual. Even my own fingers gliding across my skin left a trail of heat behind.

Is there something wrong with me?

Today I opted for a slightly looser fitting dress and chose something that looked more like a summer dress than something I should wear into the office.

Hopefully Mother won’t stop me today.

I opened my jewelry box to find something to accessorize with, but the first thing I saw was Christian’s gold chain.

Instantly, a new wave of desire washed through me, causing me to shut the jewelry box and walk away.

Yep. There’s definitely something wrong with me.

I walked straight to the car without looking back.

The uneventful ride to the office helped calm me down a little, but as soon as I arrived, my heart rate increased once again. With hurried steps, I made my way up to my office, slightly excited to see what kind of flowers would be on my desk today.

Sure enough, as soon as I stepped into my office, a bouquet of white tulips was standing in a vase on my desk. By this point, my office had turned into a small florist shop with the amount of fresh flowers there were.

My heartbeat quickened. Maybe it was the sweet floral scent, or the fact that Christian continued to send me these flowers, but it caused my eyes to mist over.

I admired the tulips for a while before I looked for the small piece of paper that came with every delivery.

After a minute of searching, I found it tucked inside one of the blooms.

My heart raced as I unfolded the note. I was curious what sort of cryptic note it would be this time, but this time, the note made me a little confused.

["You’re incredibly talented"]

"Talented?" I asked under my breath.

The only thing I’ve been working on recently was the various reports from the Sophia event. I would hardly call that being ’talented’.

Is he still talking about the Sophia season launch?

I folded the note up and placed it in the drawer with the others.

Maybe he’s running out of things to write?

Even though I didn’t understand what the note was about, I still felt the lingering heat in my body begin to spread.

No, no, no. Calm down, Leslie...

I sat down in my office chair and took a deep breath, doing my best to keep the inappropriate thoughts out of my head. However, I quickly discovered that no matter how hard I tried, the thoughts only got bolder and more frequent.

Before I knew it, my entire face was flushed red, and it was becoming difficult to focus on anything other than my desires.

Deep breaths. Just breathe. You’re not going to crawl out of your skin. You are a professional woman. You have goals. You do not need—

My thighs clenched involuntarily.

Okay. Maybe I need something.

No. No! I shook my head and turned to look at the computer screen, deciding I needed to find a way to soothe myself mentally. Emotionally. Preferably not erotically.

Music. Music always helps.

I clicked on a pre-made playlist that was titled "Calm and Relaxing", hoping to feel the effects it promised to deliver.

The first song came on, a soft piano cover of some old ballad. The notes were slow, graceful. My shoulders finally dropped, and for the first time all day, I felt my pulse start to slow.

I sat down and let out a breath.

There we go. That’s better.

Just as I thought that I had finally found the solution to my problems, the second song came on.

I didn’t recognize the name.

Then I heard the lyrics.

["Touch me slow, trace my skin with fire—Your hands are prayers, and I’m your altar..."]

My eyes shot open.

["Whisper low, let me drown in your heat—Slide your love down to my knees..."]

"WHAT?" I shrieked, lunging for the mouse like it was a grenade about to detonate.

But the Bluetooth connection to my office speakers glitched. The volume jumped up.

The sensual whisper of the singer’s voice moaned:

["Take me fully, I am your desire—

Only you can help me put out this fire..."]

"NOPE. NOPE. NOPE." I slapped every button on my keyboard until the music finally cut off.

Silence.

Except for the sound of my own ragged breathing.

Mortified, I glanced over at the pocket door between mine and Christian’s office. I never prayed so hard in my life that the insulation between our offices was strong enough to block the sounds of the earlier music.

Maybe he’s not even in his office?

I sat frozen in place, my eyes glued to the pocket door. I strained my hearing as much as I could to see if I could hear any kind of movement from his office, but even after a few minutes, I couldn’t hear anything.

"Thank goodness." I let out a deep sigh and pulled myself up from my chair.

Maybe a cold drink will help?

Seeing as I haven’t been able to do anything productive all morning, I figured that maybe getting a cold drink like an iced tea or coffee could help cool me down a notch.

I quickly walked out of my office and made it to the elevator so that I could head down to the breakroom. The shock from the music earlier had finally started to dissipate...

...And then I entered the elevator.
