Chapter 980: 015 Enemies on a Narrow Road_3
If it weren’t for this project, he didn’t even know how much he would find himself thinking about Avery Graham every day.
Of course, it was also thanks to Jollie Auclair’s incessant chatter by his side every day, but he was becoming increasingly annoyed with his own sister.
His mind was filled with images of Avery Graham’s frowns and smiles, those simple scenes vividly etched into his brain, haunting him incessantly.
He thought that he had truly fallen in love with Avery Graham.
Perhaps it was a love-hate situation, but whenever he saw Avery Graham with Bernard Taylor, he would become as mad as a lunatic.
Avery could hardly believe that Michael Auclair, a man who appeared so cultured and had always been so well-mannered in front of her, could say such disgusting things.
She picked up a glass of clear water in front of her and splashed it directly onto Michael Auclair’s face, "Michael Auclair, since you’re drunk, sober up, sober up."
Michael Auclair, drenched in water, finally came to his senses a bit, but Michael Auclair’s boisterous friends couldn’t stand it. They had always been living off Michael Auclair, so seeing him get splashed by a woman got their brotherly honour bristling. Knowing that there were only two people on the other side, and just a man and a woman at that, a few of them came over to surround them.
There was strength in numbers, right? Surely they, a few men, wouldn’t be afraid of one man and one woman?
"Lady, since you’ve splashed water on our brother, please apologize and help wipe the water off his face," a man, who looked rather burly, said to Avery.
To them, Bernard Taylor, being thin and frail, was no different from the scholars of ancient times; they didn’t take him seriously at all.
"What if I don’t apologize or help wipe it off?" Avery crossed her arms and challenged, unfazed by the man’s appearance.
Why should she apologize when it wasn’t her fault?
"Is that so? Then I absolutely guarantee that your pretty face will ’bloom’!" the man suddenly grabbed a porcelain bowl in front of him, lifted it high, and prepared to smash it down onto Avery’s face.
Avery remained calm and composed, and then swiftly kicked out at the man’s knee. He wasn’t on guard against such a sudden attack, and after his right knee was hit, Avery drew back her foot, and the man’s knee buckled forward by inertia, causing him to kneel on one knee before Avery.
"Who are you trying to play the boss with? Didn’t your patriarch teach you what manners are? If you lack education, I don’t mind teaching you a lesson right now." Taking advantage of the man’s bewildered state, Avery snatched the porcelain bowl from his hand and smashed it to the floor with a forceful smash, looking utterly badass.
The few men were all shaken by Avery’s aura, and Michael Auclair was also somewhat scared stiff. Fortunately, in the past when he was with Avery, he had never forced anything on her; otherwise, he might have become a cripple.
The most unfazed was Bernard Taylor. He indeed had never seen this bold and manly side of Avery before, but after seeing it, he let go of any surprise in an instant.
Avery truly was different from other girls, and this side of her made him find her even more intriguing.
"You motherf..." The man was stunned for a while before regaining his senses; as he prepared to stand up while cursing filthily, Avery jabbed a chopstick toward him, which went straight into his mouth and stopped at his throat.
The speed and accuracy were simply perfect.
The man was shocked by the attack, his face turning pale. The chopstick at his throat, if pushed further by even a fraction, could very well have pierced through. In that moment, he truly felt like the woman before him was the reincarnation of a martial heroine.
He was so scared that he almost cried for his mother.
Everyone was stunned by Avery’s action, and no one dared to challenge her anymore. Bernard Taylor calmly called the boss over to pay the bill, and incidentally compensated for the broken bowl at ten times its price.
"Remember this, if I ever hear such foul words from your mouth again, you can say goodbye to your throat," Avery warned as she withdrew the chopstick, picked up her Chicken Soup in front of her, drank it in one gulp, and then walked away with Bernard Taylor.
The group of men just watched, eyes wide and dumbfounded, as the two walked away right in front of them.
