Chapter 974: 014 Bernard Taylor’s Story_4

Violet Orson said if Bernard Taylor couldn’t accept it, then they could break up right now.

But Bernard Taylor refused, telling her it didn’t matter, his family wasn’t that conservative, and if they couldn’t have children, then they simply wouldn’t have them.

Violet Orson believed him, and thus she calmly started a relationship with Bernard Taylor, even having grand plans for their future—like adopting orphans if Bernard ever wanted children later on.

However, everything was going smoothly when Bernard Taylor graduated. He was a year ahead of her, and since their art degree required an additional year, he graduated two years before her.

After Bernard Taylor’s graduation, he told his parents about his relationship with Violet Orson, including their plans to marry once she graduated. Nancy Sallow came to see Violet Orson at the start of her school year.

Because Bernard Taylor had detailed everything about Violet Orson to his parents, including her health issues and her inability to bear children, he was completely transparent.

At that time, Bernard believed he could discuss anything with his parents—he had nothing to hide.

He thought his parents would definitely understand him, just as they had respected every decision he’d made in the past. However, he had not anticipated Nancy Sallow’s vehement reaction.

After going round in circles with Violet Orson for a year and a half, Bernard was eventually and ruthlessly separated from her by Nancy Sallow. Later, Bernard heard that Violet had developed depression, and with her already frail health, she didn’t last long before passing away.

The day Violet passed away, he went to see her off, and even though he knelt before Violet’s parents, they did not forgive him. He later learned from Violet’s Big Brother that she had dreamed of becoming a doctor since she was young. However, due to the demanding nature of a doctor’s work and her weak constitution, her family chose painting for her—a hobby she also loved as a child.

After starting her relationship with Bernard, Violet enjoyed sharing every little detail of her interactions with him with her Big Brother, as he was more rational and could help her discern the right choices, unlike her parents. Her parents cherished her deeply and would analyze problems strictly from her perspective.

That’s also why, even though Violet’s parents couldn’t forgive Bernard, her Big Brother could peacefully tell Bernard so much about Violet.

He said that Violet loved him deeply and that Bernard shouldn’t be angry with Nancy Sallow, as she understood the devotion of a mother. If she ever had children, she might act just like Nancy Sallow, fiercely protecting her own child.

Later, after Violet’s death, the Orson Family immigrated, leaving her resting in Z Country as she had wished before her passing. She wanted to stay close to Bernard, to watch over him and ensure his happiness if her family moved on without her.

Afterward, the relationship between Bernard and his mother was strained due to the situation with Violet. He determinedly left the Taylor Group to study medicine abroad, intending to fulfill Violet’s dream for her. He had never considered that someone as diminutive as Violet had aspired to be a surgeon, a profession that only those who have studied and worked in the Surgical Department truly understand the physical toll of.

With his determination and willpower, he fulfilled Violet’s dream and became an outstanding surgeon.

What Bernard hadn’t expected was to meet Avery Graham on his journey as a doctor. She wasn’t as beautiful as Violet, nor did she possess Violet’s elegance, but she had an ability others couldn’t match—that of making his heart stir and prompting a smile from deep within him.

It was a magical feeling, one he had never fully confronted because he believed that after a year without Violet, he would live a life of solitude, never again feeling the deep emotional stir that Violet had once caused.

Avery Graham was an exception. In becoming a doctor and fulfilling the last wish of a girl he liked, Bernard had inadvertently caused Avery to give up her dream of being a "warrior in white." Consequently, she left the Hospital and even changed her career due to him.

After listening to Nancy Sallow recount the story between Bernard and Violet, Avery Graham realized she had been crying.

She was truly moved, as she isn’t someone whose emotions fluctuate easily. Even when everyone else in the cinema cried during the "Mother Is the Best" scenes, she had not shed a tear.
