Chapter 966: 013 Let’s Collaborate (Second Update)

Bernard Taylor queued up dutifully at the back. After Avery Graham finished serving the person in front, she finally noticed him standing at the end of the line. When they faced each other, both of them smiled with pursed lips.

Seeing Avery laugh, and the look on Giselle Browman’s face beside her, he understood already; Giselle Browman had told Avery everything.

Actually, it didn’t matter. He’d thought about it, and since Avery knew the whole story and hadn’t taken the initiative to call him these past days, she probably didn’t care about it at all.

As for the cooperation between the Taylor Family and Michael Auclair, it was indeed in progress, after all, they’d signed a contract. However, the person in charge of this project wasn’t him but a different branch of the Taylor Family. He was willing to do the project for Michael Auclair, but he didn’t want to see the man every day.

"Andrew Victor, come here, take over for a bit." Seeing that neither had spoken, and there was still a long line behind Bernard Taylor, Giselle Browman quickly called over a shop assistant to free up Avery’s position.

"Come inside," Avery said to Bernard Taylor, who nodded in agreement; he had not come for the budget-friendly bread after all.

His reason for queuing and moving forward was mainly to make Avery notice him.

"Business seems to be going very well." After Bernard Taylor sat down, Avery voluntarily poured him a cup of coffee. Sipping his coffee, he watched a continuous stream of customers outside the shop.

"Yeah, I didn’t expect it to be this booming today. Many customers said they had waited for our doors to open until the flowers had wilted," Avery said cheerfully. If it was like this every day, she’d be much closer to her dream.

"Good reputation," Bernard Taylor nodded. "Bring me two pieces of bread that are not too sweet, and one sandwich, please."

"Give him two sandwiches," Avery instructed the shop assistant.

"Okay, Sister Avery." The shop assistant immediately went inside and brought out two freshly made sandwiches, still hot, unwrapped.

"You probably haven’t had breakfast. Eat two sandwiches, no bread for now. If you really want some bread, I’ll pack some for you to take away later," Avery suggested.

She had once been responsible for Bernard Taylor’s meals when he was a doctor, and she was a nurse. Back then, while serving Bernard Taylor, she did more than just her duties as a nurse; she also took charge of preparing his meals.

It was during that time that she understood Bernard Taylor’s appetite. A sandwich was quite filling, and two of them with a cup of coffee would be enough for his breakfast.

"Alright, then I won’t be polite," Bernard Taylor accepted her kindness.

The shop assistant also brought Avery a sandwich and a cup of coffee. The two of them sat together, harmoniously having breakfast. Not only were their appearances in harmony, but their spirits were too, unlike before, when their faces hid their hearts’ discord.

Avery had eaten half of her sandwich and couldn’t help but lift her eyes to look at him. Bernard Taylor was eating his second sandwich seriously. His habit was not to talk while eating. Back in the day, Avery liked to chat with others while dining and had been scolded by Bernard Taylor for it. She hadn’t taken it well at the time. After leaving Bernard Taylor, however, she gradually adopted the same good habit.

So, after hesitating for a moment, Avery ultimately decided not to speak and focused on finishing her sandwich first.

"Is there something you want to tell me?" It wasn’t long before Bernard Taylor finished the food in front of him, took a paper napkin, and wiped his mouth.

"I wanted to say, thank you for doing so much behind my back," Avery felt that since she knew, she should at least thank him, and she hadn’t called before because she didn’t know what to say.

"It’s nothing. I always felt I owed you a dream, so I unconsciously wanted to do these things for you. Actually, it’s all just a coincidence. If he hadn’t done that, I think I would have sincerely wished you both well. I just hope you don’t blame me now for ruining your happiness. In my opinion, you deserve a really good man. Take your time, and don’t rush into choosing someone just because of what others say or because you feel you’re getting on in years. Look at me, and you’ll see you’re still young," Bernard Taylor said all this just to comfort her.

Although he guessed she wouldn’t be sad because of Michael Auclair, it was only she who knew whether she was sad or not; outsiders could never tell.
