Secret Wealthy Marriage -
Chapter 93 - 93 93 After the Success
Chapter 93: Chapter 93: After the Success Chapter 93: Chapter 93: After the Success Matilda Ferguson couldn’t believe it. Did Lucy Wade mean to say that she wasn’t good enough for Bryan Hawkins?
As far as she knew, if even she, Matilda Ferguson, wasn’t good enough for Bryan Hawkins, who could be? Did Lucy Wade even know what nonsense she was talking about?
Of course, there was one more person in this world who thought that she wasn’t worthy of Bryan Hawkins – that person was Grandma Hawkins.
“You think I would believe you?” Matilda Ferguson didn’t believe Lucy Wade’s wild words. This woman, born into a prestigious family, had a subtle way of acting that left people unable to determine the truth from her lies.
“If you don’t believe me, whatever.” Lucy Wade didn’t care and continued, just as there was a commotion at the door. “Look, Bryan Hawkins is here. With the relationship between Miss Ferguson and Mr. Hawkins, perhaps if Miss Ferguson were to ask Mr. Hawkins who he’d been conquered by, she might get an answer.”
“You…” Matilda Ferguson knew Lucy Wade was being sarcastic. Bryan Hawkins didn’t even acknowledge her previous relationship with him, or else he wouldn’t have let Florence Browman post that apology letter online.
Lucy Wade couldn’t be bothered with her anymore, put down her wine glass, and walked away. Even if there were no real friends in this circle, she had her own circle. Besides, she didn’t mix in this circle to stand out.
So, whether she was doing well or not, she didn’t care too much. After all, all she needed was the exposure.
Bryan Hawkins entered the Grand Hall, followed closely by Xavier Estrada and a gorgeous woman from the Hawkins Family Public Relations Department, who also happened to be their manager.
It was as if Matilda Ferguson had just realized Bryan Hawkins was surrounded by beautiful women. As beautiful as she was, there were always better-looking people out there in the world.
No one could claim to be the number one beauty in the world.
She wanted to walk over to Bryan Hawkins, but because of Lucy Wade’s words, she didn’t want to appear vulnerable in front of Lucy. At this moment, seeing Bryan Hawkins, she just wanted to rush over and ask who he had been seduced by.
Any woman who dared try would see just how ruthless she could be. If someone dared to covet her man, they couldn’t blame her for her cruelty.
This was exactly what Matilda Ferguson did. As people walked up to greet Bryan Hawkins, she took steps towards him. But after just two steps, her wrist was forcefully grabbed.
“What are you doing?” Matilda Ferguson looked back to see George Morris. Didn’t this man say that he wasn’t going to bother with her anymore? What did he want now by grabbing her?
“What do you want to do?” George Morris retorted. He had come to this party today just for Bryan Hawkins.
The reason he knew Bryan Hawkins was coming was that projects that George had been working on were having problems because of Bryan Hawkins’ behind-the-scenes actions. George just didn’t know how Bryan Hawkins had managed to do it.
Bryan Hawkins had meticulously planned everything to a point where George couldn’t have imagined. Sometimes, George even wondered if Bryan Hawkins had planted spies around them, or else how could Bryan Hawkins always be one step ahead of the Morris Family?
In business, George’s mind couldn’t compete with Bryan Hawkins’, but when it came to despicable tactics, George Morris was much better than Bryan Hawkins.
Initially, George thought of using the same method as before and having someone take Bryan Hawkins out directly, but his father disagreed, saying that they couldn’t afford another incident like the previous one.
So, George Morris gave up. However, he still had people follow Bryan Hawkins, and he knew things that even Matilda Ferguson could only dream of knowing.
But Matilda Ferguson was terrible at socializing, so George Morris wasn’t going to share this information with her easily.
“My business is none of your concern.” Matilda Ferguson coldly replied, looking in Bryan Hawkins’ direction. Bryan had been here for quite some time, and she, Matilda Ferguson, had been standing here like a living person, but he wouldn’t even give her a glance.
“Matilda Ferguson, don’t forget what got you here today. How dare you talk to me like that?” George Morris tightened his grip, causing Matilda to snap back to reality.
That’s right, she didn’t have an invitation to today’s event. If George hadn’t invited her as his date, she wouldn’t have been able to enter the venue.
George’s words were like a vicious slap on her face. She didn’t have the right to be here, but Lucy Wade was treated like a star among the successful people.
Matilda turned her head and saw Lucy Wade mingling with successful people, even if it was just because of the influence of the Wade Family and the reputation of her big brother: who wouldn’t want a genius like Jordy Wade at their side?
If she had Bryan Hawkins by her side, she guessed her treatment would be similar to Lucy’s.
Look, that woman beside Bryan Hawkins was now surrounded by everyone, wasn’t she? Wasn’t she just a minor manager of the Hawkins Public Relations Department? Just because she was standing next to Bryan Hawkins, she became a shining pearl, right?
She’d always known about Bryan Hawkins’ capabilities; it’s just that her parents didn’t see them back then and forced her to choose George Morris instead. Now that Bryan Hawkins had risen, it was too late for regrets.
Matilda Ferguson didn’t say anything. Before Bryan Hawkins fully accepted her, she wasn’t in a position to fight against George Morris. But she believed that one day, she would personally break his arrogance.
“Don’t provoke him now, there will be a time when you should. I’ll arrange it. Right now, it’s time for you pay the price. After everything is done, I’ll tell you who Bryan Hawkins is with.” George Morris coldly stated. Since he had people following Bryan Hawkins, he knew every detail of his life.
Matilda Ferguson glared at him fiercely. George Morris knew everything, yet he’d been hiding it from her. Was this the attitude of a collaborator?
But no matter how discontented Matilda Ferguson was, she knew she had no bargaining chip against George Morris at this time.
Men were like that; they would indulge you when they were fond of you but would try to trample you once you no longer satisfied their control.
Matilda Ferguson also knew what George Morris meant by “the price”. Right now, she didn’t even like herself, how could she expect Bryan Hawkins to see her value? She just hoped that Bryan Hawkins would never find out about the things she was doing behind his back.
That way, she might still have some hope. One day, after her surgery, she would be worthy of him.
