Chapter 909: Controlled_6
This is indeed a good sign of progress.
The most important thing is that Avery also mentioned other people’s names, indicating that she probably didn’t dine with Bernard Taylor alone tonight; there must have been many others, and it was just Bernard Taylor who drove her home.
That’s very good.
Downstairs, Giselle Browman saw Bernard Taylor’s car parked there; she walked towards him and called out, "Bernard Taylor."
Giselle Browman called sweetly. When Bernard Taylor was still a doctor, she could call him "Doctor," but calling him "Bernard Taylor" didn’t seem right. After a moment’s thought, she added a "brother" at the end.
When Bernard Taylor saw her, he casually glanced behind her. Not seeing Avery Graham, he figured Avery had sent her down. He handed the keys he was holding to Giselle Browman, "Here, these are your sister’s keys."
"Uh-huh, thank you, Bernard Taylor," Giselle Browman nodded her head.
She actually quite liked Bernard Taylor—such a handsome and wealthy guy—but he had a very peculiar mother. If it weren’t for Nancy Sallow, she would have considered making a move on Bernard Taylor.
However, thinking of having Nancy Sallow, a woman as peculiar as her, as her mother-in-law, Giselle Browman felt insecure about that prospect.
"It’s nothing, I’m leaving now." Bernard Taylor didn’t say much else and drove away.
Watching the retreating lights of Bernard Taylor’s car, Giselle Browman didn’t quite know what to say.
Going upstairs to have supper with Michael Auclair, Avery Graham was truly too full, so even though the midnight snack smelled delicious, she couldn’t eat a bite.
She went into her room first to take a bath, and when she came out, the two of them were almost finished eating.
Seeing that it was getting late, Michael Auclair took out the trash for them and then took his leave.
Giselle Browman, properly full, slumped onto the couch, while Avery Graham turned on the TV, flipping through channels listlessly with the remote control in hand.
"Sis, if it weren’t for Nancy Sallow, would you consider accepting Bernard Taylor’s advances?" Giselle Browman, driven by her curiosity, scooted closer to Avery Graham, asking cautiously.
She had asked before, but Avery had told her not to, and since Bernard Taylor had left, she didn’t press further.
But without Bernard Taylor, she hadn’t seen any significant progress in the relationship between Michael Auclair and Avery before. It had always been lukewarm, and after observing for a while, she felt sure her sister didn’t really like Michael Auclair much.
Being with him was just about fulfilling their aunt’s wish.
Otherwise, her aunt would have arranged blind dates for her every day, which would have been too much to bear.
Not just for her; even as a bystander, Giselle Browman felt overwhelmed.
"I’ve told you before, our relationship isn’t like that. We are just friends," Avery Graham emphasized once more. Now what she wondered was whether she had done something impulsive earlier, her mind felt muddled and she was struggling to think clearly.
"I know, you see him as just a friend, but Bernard Taylor doesn’t see you as just a friend," she was now even more convinced that Bernard Taylor liked Avery Graham. When she approached earlier and Bernard Taylor saw her, but not Avery, there was a moment of bewilderment on his face.
"Alright, alright, let’s not talk in circles," Avery Graham simply stood up, ready to go back to her room.
"Sis, do you really see a future with Mr. Michael Auclair?" Giselle Browman also stood up, her only wish was for Avery Graham to be happy. She knew that Avery had just attended a lavish wedding, the bride of which, her good friend, was the envy of the whole world. She hoped that Avery could find a man who would make her truly happy and smile.
She was becoming more and more convinced that this man was unlikely to be Michael Auclair.
"We’ve decided to meet each other’s families during the New Year, and I’ll bring him to our home first."
"What?"
On hearing this, Giselle Browman realized that the relationship between the two had taken a significant step. It seemed that maybe she was overthinking it.
When Avery Graham lay down in her room, she began to regret, feeling that she had been too impulsive beforehand. Yet, ultimately, she made another impulsive decision by sending a text to her mom, saying she would bring Michael Auclair home during the New Year.
Her mother was thrilled and immediately called, saying she would prepare well.
But Avery Graham wasn’t as excited as her mother; she truly felt there was no need for such elaborate preparations.
