Chapter 902: 001 Long time no see
The most important thing was that the salary was high, and she could save a lot of money.
"Alright, I’m off. I know you find me nagging, but there’s chicken soup for you too, hurry and have a bowl," after saying that, Avery’s mom finally left with the empty thermos in hand.
Once Avery’s mom left, the two sisters exchanged helpless smiles.
After polishing off the chicken soup and barbecue, Avery tossed her bowl into the sink and said to Giselle, "Giselle, let’s go to bed and clean up tomorrow. I’m off to take a shower first."
"It’s fine, sis. I can clean up. You go and take your shower," Giselle said as she tied on an apron and began tidying up the kitchen.
She was quite the clean freak and couldn’t stand the sight of a messy kitchen, feeling the urge to clean it immediately, unable to wait until the next day.
Avery was different. She was more laid-back, doing things well when she felt like it and was skilled at cleaning up, but when she didn’t want to do something, even if it was just a tiny task, she would rather leave it and deal with it the next day.
So, living together with Giselle was a good thing for her, at least it was less work for her, and she could laze around when she wanted to.
"Okay, thanks for the hard work," Avery said. Knowing that Giselle had worked late and was already very tired, yet still insisted on cleaning, she felt it was not her place to insist otherwise.
Right now, having had her fill, she indeed didn’t feel like moving at all.
After taking a bath and drying her hair, Avery lay in bed playing with her phone. There were ten orders on Whatsapp that she needed to deal with the next day, which she had already noted down. Then she opened Happy Elimination and started playing.
Happy Elimination was a game Giselle had introduced her to, saying that everyone was playing it. She would only play it when she was extremely bored, so even though she had downloaded it more than a month ago, she had only completed thirty some levels.
Just after she passed a level, a text message popped up on her phone. It was from Bernard Taylor, asking her out to dinner on the 29th of the lunar new year.
Avery looked at the calendar. The 30th was the official start of the holiday, so the 29th would actually work for her. She planned to close the shop at noon that day.
Therefore, she replied with an "Okay" to Bernard.
No more messages came from his end.
Avery played a little longer, passing five levels before feeling it was rather uninteresting. She threw back the covers, tossed her phone a good distance away from the bed, and went to sleep.

The next day, Avery was busy all morning, making cakes, delivering them, and running express deliveries. The newly expanded business was all on her, and the delivery fees alone made her quite a bit of money that morning.
Avery was so pleased that she invited the store staff out for a meal, leaving one person behind to look after the shop with the perk of ordering a sumptuous express delivery meal.
After all, everyone was in high spirits, and they were going out for a business lunch set anyway.
The group arrived at a nearby restaurant, and Avery went with two others to secure seating. She ordered a Black Pepper Steak Rice for herself, her favorite from this fast food restaurant, which she found delicious every time, never tiring of it.
The other three went to place their orders.
Avery also got six colas since their own store served coffee, hand-brewed no less, so generally when they dined out, they avoided instant coffee from other restaurants.
Avery picked up a tray with six colas, paid, and as she was turning to leave, she bumped into another woman who was also there to buy cola.
"I’m sorry, I’m so sorry," Avery quickly apologized. Her cola had spilled over, splashing some onto the woman, who was wearing a light camel coat. The cola stain spread over a large area instantly.
"..." The woman looked at the cola stain on her chest, her heart filled with anger. She was already a bit upset before from her meal, and then to be crashed into by this klutz was just adding insult to injury. She was determined to take her anger out on Avery, "Apologies don’t solve everything. Don’t you have eyes? Can’t you see the big mark here? Do you know how much this coat costs? Miss, you can’t just say sorry for your mistake and think that’s enough."
"...Then how much is your coat? I’ll pay for it. That settles it, right?" Avery was taken aback. She thought her apology had been sincere, but the lady wasn’t satisfied.
She could understand that dissatisfaction.
But how could she accuse her of not having eyes? Her eyes were located where they should be, definitely not on the back of her head. It was normal for her not to see the other woman when she turned around. On the other hand, if the woman was standing behind her, couldn’t she have avoided her?
