Secret Wealthy Marriage -

Chapter 899: 001 Long time no see
"Long time no see."
"Yeah, it’s been a while," Avery Graham turned her head and nodded at Bernard Taylor.
To Avery Graham, it seemed all they could exchange now was this kind of polite small talk.
She had thought Bernard Taylor would just say hello and leave, but after a brief silence, he spoke again, "Let me take you home. Carolline Ruiz and Bryan Hawkins are very busy with so many people. No matter how many drivers there are, there can be a moment when it’s just not enough."
Bernard Taylor’s offer sounded perfectly reasonable, as if he was simply trying to lighten the load for Carolline Ruiz and Bryan Hawkins.
"...Wouldn’t it be too much trouble for you?" Avery Graham didn’t play coy; with Michael Auclair gone, she knew Carolline Ruiz had arrangements, but as Bernard Taylor said, with that many people, it was likely not enough.
"No trouble at all. Let’s go," Bernard Taylor turned and started walking ahead.
Avery Graham thought about it and followed him.
When they approached Carolline Ruiz and Bryan Hawkins, Carolline Ruiz saw Avery Graham coming with Bernard Taylor and gave a somewhat wicked smile. Avery Graham just rolled her eyes.
"Bernard, thanks for taking Avery home. I just sent the last driver with Celia Wade, sorry about that." Of course, there were still drivers available; they were well-prepared, but since Avery and Bernard came together, naturally, there was no need for one more.
"It’s fine, it’s on the way anyway. I wish you a happy marriage, and we’ll be off then," Bernard Taylor replied quite calmly.
"Happy marriage, and hope for a precious daughter soon... Oh no, I mean, take it easy tonight." The last line Avery spoke to Carolline Ruiz, whose pretty face turned even redder.
Avery Graham, though she really had no experience at all, managed to speak in a way that could easily make people think she was a fierce woman.
She didn’t know how many times she told her that if others heard this, they would get scared off by her, even the good men.
Knowing that Carolline Ruiz was embarrassed, Avery Graham didn’t tease her any further and just followed Bernard Taylor.
Outside the car window, the lights were twinkling. Sitting in the passenger seat, Avery Graham didn’t know how to break the silence between them. Their relationship felt like it needed some greeting, but she didn’t know how to start.
"How have you been lately?" Bernard Taylor was the one to break the ice first; it had been several months since they last met.
"Well, business is okay, and my relationship is stable. How about you? Have you been dating anyone?" Avery Graham turned to him and asked sincerely, assuming that Nancy Sallow must have been trying to set him up with someone during these months.
"There’s a lot to do with the company, lots to learn. When is there time for that in the United States?" Bernard Taylor chuckled. "Last time, you treated Nelson Castillo and the others to a meal. This time, I rarely come back, so don’t I owe you one?"
"Sure, let me know when you are free, and I’ll arrange something," Avery Graham nodded and agreed readily. It was just a meal, and besides, the money he left in her shop hadn’t been spent yet.
"Alright, it’s a deal," Bernard Taylor nodded, "I should be around until after the New Year, so there’s plenty of time."
"Mhm," Avery Graham nodded and then turned her gaze back out the window.
Afterwards, they remained silent until they arrived at the place Avery Graham had mentioned.
They said goodbye to each other and departed. Bernard Taylor drove away without lingering. In the past, he always waited to see Avery enter the Residential Area before leaving, but now, he felt it was better not to do so.
Avery Graham took out her residential area access card, ready to open the door and enter when her mother darted out from the darkness, "Wasn’t that Michael Auclair who just dropped you off?"
"Mom, you scared me," Avery Graham jumped at the sight of her suddenly appearing mother. She pinched her ear before explaining, "No, it wasn’t. It was a former colleague from the hospital."
"A former colleague from your unit? Single or married?" her mother’s eyes lit up. She hadn’t known Avery had such a wealthy colleague before.
So, she felt somewhat doubtful about Avery’s words.
It had been so long, and the relationship between Avery and Michael Auclair had always been stagnant, and she had never seen Michael actively bringing Avery to his family’s home, nor did Michael come to their home because of Avery’s invitations.
"Mom, why are you asking these things? Even if he’s single, your daughter is in a relationship. Plus, do you really think someone like him would still be single by now?" Avery Graham replied, somewhat exasperated.
