Secret Wealthy Marriage -
Chapter 89 - 89 89 Nonsense
Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Nonsense Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Nonsense Carolline naturally couldn’t complain about Bryan Hawkins. Since it’s done, she could only accept her fate and silently nodded her head.
Her breakfast was eaten absentmindedly. Bryan assumed it was because she was worried about being late, but there was no need to worry. His driving skills were pretty good, and picking her up at this time was also well-calculated.
After finishing breakfast, Carolline’s phone rang. Carolline was somewhat afraid to see who was calling, fearing it might be her parents on a quest for an explanation.
“Why don’t you answer the phone?” Bryan went to the study to get some materials he needed later and heard Carolline’s phone ringing.
“Oh.” Carolline quickly picked up the phone as if she had just woken up from a dream. It was a call from Lucy Wade. She was nearly scared to death by this girl. “It’s about time you called me back, isn’t it?” said Carolline, slightly irritated.
“Hey, are you blaming me? What, did our Boss Bryan not perform well in bed and leave you unsatisfied?” Lucy blurted out such shameless words and laughed loudly on the other side of the call. Carolline’s face turned red with embarrassment.
She never thought that there could be such a big difference between her playmate years ago and today. Carolline felt like she could never say something like that in this lifetime.
“You’re talking nonsense.” After hesitating for a long time, Carolline barely managed to squeeze out this sentence.
“Hahaha, so does this mean that Boss Bryan’s skills in bed were excellent, right?” Lucy laughed heartily. Sitting in her car’s driving cabin, she was alone and could say whatever she wanted without any restraint.
Bryan came downstairs to see Carolline’s already rosy face getting even redder. He didn’t know who she was talking to on the phone, so he just watched her and waited.
Carolline was just thankful she hadn’t put the call on speaker. Otherwise, she wouldn’t dare to show her face here anymore if anyone in the room heard it.
“Stop talking. If you have nothing important to say, I’ll hang up.” Carolline would definitely settle the score with Lucy Wade later, but not now, and not over the phone.
“Wait! Where are you? I’ll come pick you up and go to your house with you to explain why you didn’t come home last night.” Lucy didn’t know that Carolline couldn’t lie and couldn’t make excuses for herself. She was aware of the Ruiz Family’s strictness, so she took the day off to help Carolline with the lie and visit Uncle and Auntie Ruiz.
When Carolline was a child, she didn’t know how many lies she had told for Lucy. Today was just one payback, and of course, it wouldn’t be the last one.
“Let’s meet at the old place then. Do you still remember the old place?” After thinking for a while, Carolline thought it was a pretty good idea. She was worried about not having a good excuse to deal with Emily Hill and Lucy had delivered the best excuse to her on a silver platter. Carolline considered it Lucy redeeming herself.
Of course, Carolline didn’t know if Lucy would still want to associate with her once she found out about her hidden marriage with Bryan Hawkins.
“I remember, I remember. I’ll hang up now and get Uncle and Auntie some gifts.” Lucy nodded, her memory intact.
Carolline hung up the phone and saw Bryan standing there. She didn’t know how much he heard, but she cleared her throat, “Well, shall we go?”
“…” Bryan inadvertently frowned at the ‘well’ address. How did he become ‘well’? He had a name, even if she didn’t call him husband yet. Calling him by his name wasn’t that difficult, was it?
Of course, Bryan didn’t have time to correct her wrong address. They were both pressed for time. “Let’s go.”
Bryan dropped Carolline off at the requested location and left her there. It didn’t take long for Lucy to arrive in her fancy convertible sports car, the backseat filled to the brim with gifts.
“Aren’t you exaggerating a bit?” Carolline looked at Lucy, utterly speechless.
“How is it exaggerated? When I was little, Auntie Ruiz made me so many delicious meals, and as for Uncle, every time I got an injection, I always felt the nurses were extra gentle with me as long as he was around.” Lucy arrogantly replied. So, she could only feel that the things she bought were not enough, not too much.
“…” Carolline thought Lucy was too exaggerated. Injections were painful, but there was no such thing as not feeling pain because someone was around. Carolline got into the car, and Lucy caught a glimpse of the love bites on her neck. She screamed dramatically, “It seems that you and Bryan had a fierce battle last night, huh?”
“Do you have to say that?” Carolline stared wide-eyed. This girl was talking nonsense over the phone and still talking nonsense when they met. Was she trying to get Carolline to tear her mouth apart?
“I mean, are you really going to go home like this? How are you going to explain it to Uncle and Auntie?” Lucy pulled out a mirror from her bag and showed it to Carolline, who finally saw the bruise-like marks on her neck.
“What should I do? Let’s go buy a scarf first.” Carolline actually noticed the marks on her body when she took a shower in the morning, but she didn’t pay much attention to her neck.
Thankfully, the weather was cold enough that they were both wearing thick coats that could cover most of the marks. However, if Carolline wore a high collar in this weather, it would seem too strange.
“I already have one here, here, you can look for it yourself.” Lucy gestured with her head towards the back.
Carolline searched through the pile of gifts and found a scarf without much effort. She quickly wrapped it around herself.
“It suits you quite well.” Lucy nodded in approval.
Carolline didn’t respond as she wasn’t worried about whether it suited her or not; she merely wanted to cover what shouldn’t be seen. She turned her head towards the car window.
Now, her relationship with Bryan seemed to have inched closer once again. However, she had a nagging feeling that Matilda Ferguson wouldn’t go down without a fight. The woman had exposed her past relationship with Bryan – who knew what she would pull next?
As for Bryan, Carolline didn’t know if he still had feelings for Matilda. For the first time, she felt at a loss.
