Chapter 875: 014 Let’s go back to the country together_5

"..." Marcus Parker looked at Ellie Wilton, who was silent next to him. A harmonious family supposedly led to prosperity in everything. They did wish for harmony in their household, but how about the two siblings? Once they learned that another person was coming to divide the inheritance, they immediately rushed over in a fit of rage.

"What do you and your mother mean by this, trying to wait for me to die of old age before taking action? Ryan, you can’t be too selfish. When I was young, I promised your mother to take her on a world tour. So, you must take over your father’s group. You should know, you’re out of money now. A man without money will soon be despised by women. Do you understand?"

"?" Ryan Parker was quite puzzled and didn’t understand where his father’s final theory came from. What does he mean that a man without money will eventually be despised by women? Was he implying that his son was penniless and incompetent, or that his future daughter-in-law was greedy? Either way, why did it sound so unpleasant?

"Dad, if you’re worried that Celia will despise me, then you needn’t worry. I was nearly a vegetable lying in bed for several months, and Celia never looked down on me," Ryan Parker said with confidence. The woman he chose couldn’t possibly be so superficial.

"This... Isn’t the point that you should be more considerate of me? I’m not saying Celia is such a person, but as a man, don’t you think you should work harder to improve her life?" Marcus Parker was somewhat speechless; his son was focused on something entirely different from what he was saying.

"If you really want me to take over, I can, but you have to convince Big Brother and Zoey first. Tell me after you’ve persuaded them, and I’ll take up the position right away, provided they don’t come to trouble my mother and me. Can you do that? If you can, then there’s no problem at all. If not, and you insist on me agreeing, you need to be prepared for a family war. We’ve just settled down; are you sure you want to see the family in discord again?"

Ryan Parker wasn’t afraid of Alexander Parker and Zoey Parker. He was just worried that they would do something impulsive and ruin his wedding, which would be disastrous.

Although he had only met them twice, he really didn’t have a good impression of them.

"The company is mine, and I can pass it on to whomever I want. Back in the day, my father passed it on to me, and no one dared say anything." He was also an illegitimate child back then. His father took him home to inherit the family business. Despite much opposition, including from the elders, his father did as he pleased. Eventually, he proved his abilities and even renamed the Parker Family business as Parker Group.

Of course, Ryan can change Parker Group to Parker Group if he wishes in the future. He hoped Ryan would bring another level of success to his Parker Group.

"..." Ryan Parker truly didn’t know what to say; he understood his father’s feelings, but if he accepted, would others understand?

"Alright, let’s let Ryan focus on his wedding for now. Are you trying to pressure him so much that you don’t want him to have a good wedding?" Ellie Wilton finally spoke up to defend her son.

"What do you mean I’m pressuring him? Didn’t we agree on this before?" Marcus Parker didn’t feel at all like he was pressuring his son. "Don’t forget, the house and car we gave before are only in Celia’s name. If he doesn’t work hard and take over the group promptly, do you really want our son to be a kept man?"

"No, I’ve already made up my mind. After I return from my honeymoon with Celia, let Big Brother continue to inherit the group. I’ll start a company with a partner, starting from scratch. There’s definitely no problem providing for the family," Ryan Parker said cheerfully.

"Providing for the family? Is that all my son Marcus Parker aspires to do?" Marcus Parker gave Ryan a reproachful look. The boy just didn’t want to work too hard, yearning to stay by his wife’s side while he was still young—it was unbearable.

"Okay, let’s just decide on this for now. Dad, all I want to do right now is prepare for my wedding properly. As for your group, we’ll have a proper talk when I’m free." After Ryan Parker finished speaking, he sprinted up the stairs with a speed that could rival a four or five-year-old child, displaying remarkable agility.

"Ah..."

"Let him go," Ellie Wilton patted Marcus Parker’s arm. "Besides, Alexander is managing the group quite well now. Oh by the way, Ryan is going to G City to pick up Celia the day after tomorrow. Do you want to come with us?"

"You’re going too?" Marcus Parker said in surprise. Didn’t his wife and son consider that he was getting on in years? He had just returned from abroad not too long ago, and now he had to travel again?

He really didn’t like flying. In a few more years, he probably wouldn’t even be allowed on a plane anymore.

"Of course, I’m going. How could I not worry about Ryan going alone? And there’s the wedding invitations to send out. Ryan doesn’t understand these things. This trip over, we might as well send out Celia’s side of the family and friends’ invitations. I definitely have to go," Ellie Wilton nodded.

Actually, filling out wedding invitations and such was very simple. It was mainly because Ellie finally had her son back; she wanted to spend more time with him. All these years, she’d missed him deeply.

Seeing that her son was about to get married and take a wife, the latter half of her life wouldn’t be hers anymore. Shouldn’t she take advantage of this time to cling to her son as much as possible? When else would she have the chance?

"If you’re going, naturally I’m going as well." Ellie was the type to cling to her son, whereas Marcus was the type to cling to his wife.

So, the two elders became a pair.

Upstairs, Ryan took a bath first, then he called Celia. Celia, along with Harry and Uncle Yu, were having a get-together with Carolline’s family.

Celia was playing with Axel when Ryan’s call came through.

"Hello." It had been a few days since they’d been apart, and Celia was really missing him.

"What are you doing?" Ryan’s deep, magnetic voice rang in Celia’s ear, making her feel all tingly.

"I’m having dinner with Carolline’s family," Celia said. "How about you?"

Then laughter from Harry and Henry Ruiz could be heard, clearly indicating the two elders were enjoying their conversation, especially Henry, who said Harry should have come back sooner.

Harry agreed several times over.

"I just took a bath. I’m coming over the day after tomorrow. The wedding dress shoot is scheduled for next week, so this weekend, you’ll have to come back to Kyoto with me?" Ryan really missed her. He hadn’t noticed when they were together every day, but being apart just a few days made him miss her intensely.

"Oh, okay, I got it," Celia obediently responded.

"Mm, alright then, have fun. I won’t disturb you guys," Ryan said, nodding, feeling incredibly sweet inside.

"Mm, I’ll call you after we’re done tonight." Celia was still a bit reluctant to hang up.

"Good, and also, think carefully about who you want to invite. Mom will bring the invitations over later, and we’ll fill them out together and send them out. Oh, and I moved the wedding date up by half a month; we won’t have to wait until May Day. I can’t wait." He couldn’t wait to marry her and bring her home. And he had calculated, if Celia’s menstruation was regular, a May Day wedding could be fine, but in case it wasn’t regular, moving it up half a month was the safest option.

He definitely didn’t want their wedding night spoiled by Celia’s menstruation.

So, that was the crux of the matter.

"...Okay, I understand," Celia replied after a moment of surprise.

She was unaware of the ’plots and schemes’ in someone’s mind.
