Chapter 814: Chapter 814: Paternity Test (4)
"Mrs. Parker, my name is Jordy Wade. I don’t think we’re very familiar with each other, so you may continue to call me Mr. Wade." He did not remember his former name and only acknowledged the name Jordy Wade.
"..." Ellie Wilton listened, her tears threatening to fall again, "Okay, Mr. Wade."
Seeing Ellie Wilton in such distress, Marcus Parker still felt uncomfortable, but since Ellie Wilton had hidden such an important matter from them, he still harbored some grievances.
He had discovered he had a son, and such an outstanding one at that, outstanding enough that even without knowing the boy was his son, he had admired him greatly, and now, knowing that Jordy Wade was in fact his son, he truly felt proud.
However, the blood clot in Jordy Wade’s brain could threaten his life if not operated on, and he believed this was the immediate issue that needed to be addressed.
As for everything else, that could wait until after the surgery was successful.
"Do you know that the blood clot in your brain could threaten your life? I will immediately arrange for the corresponding expert to give you a thorough medical examination. Regardless of our relationship in the future, I believe that life is the most important thing, Mr. Wade. What do you think?" Marcus Parker looked at Jordy Wade earnestly, thinking he should now be able to understand why he had always been disliked by Jordy Wade. Back then, Jordy Wade had not yet lost his memory, so he probably remembered everything about the past quite clearly.
Being abandoned by one’s own mother because of one’s biological father, such parents would not be easily accepted by anyone thus, he could understand Jordy Wade’s repelling attitude towards them.
But he felt it was necessary to clarify, because he truly had never known of his son’s existence. If he had known, no matter what, irrespective of the cost, no matter how the world vilified him as Evelin Clark, he would have brought home the woman he loved most along with their child.
He would definitely have chosen to divorce, as his reputation wasn’t as important to him as Ellie Wilton thought it was. What a man wants is simple, a happy and beautiful family, a joyous union of three.
"..." Jordy Wade stared at him, stunned for a while before he said, "I have already made an appointment with a doctor, Henry Ruiz from G City."
"He is well-known, but I’m not at ease. I would like to invite experts from abroad. Of course, if you trust him, we can also invite him to come to Kyoto for a joint consultation. The doctor just told us that your surgery needs to be performed as soon as possible." Marcus Parker had a plan in mind; since Jordy Wade was his son, he wanted to ensure his life was saved with absolute certainty.
The technology in his country was clear to him, but still, experts from abroad were more professional and more trustworthy.
"..." Jordy Wade didn’t respond, exhibiting the typical mindset that the moon is rounder overseas.
Of course, Jordy Wade was also aware that foreign expertise in some surgical operations was better than domestic, but Henry Ruiz was someone Celia Wade trusted, and anyone she trusted, he would trust implicitly.
"Jordy, whether you believe me or not, or whatever you think of me, there’s one thing I must make clear: I never knew of your existence. If I had, I would have never let your mother send you to the orphanage," finally, Marcus Parker couldn’t resist defending himself, although what he said was indeed the truth.
"That’s right, Jordy. Your father didn’t know of your existence until now, because I lied to him earlier, telling him I had a miscarriage. I didn’t want him to abandon his wife for me and you, letting him be despised. I love him, deeply, and for his sake, I was willing to sacrifice our mother-son relationship. But please believe that my putting you in the orphanage wasn’t meant as abandonment. The dean of the orphanage was a close friend of mine, so I trusted you with her. It’s just, I never anticipated that when I was about to come for you, a fire would break out at the orphanage. The dean and I always believed..., you perished in that fire..."
Ellie Wilton choked up as she spoke, recalling that disaster where all the teachers and children at the orphanage had perished, which had left her in agony. It still pained her to think about it now.
Yet, why did Jordy Wade survive? Probably only Jordy Wade himself would know the answer to that.
The subsequent investigation into that fire concluded it was caused by neglected electrical wiring, and no one pursued the matter further. Since the orphanage housed orphans, only the relatives of the orphanage staff received compensation. The orphans were given a decent burial, and even Jordy Wade’s ’ashes’ were interred by the state because his identity too was that of an orphan.
