Chapter 808: Chapter 808 Mysteriously Familiar (4)

He also desperately wanted to ask her whether she and the little boy were mother and son, but witnessing her with Marcus Parker, these words just wouldn’t come out, and he even found himself being unreasonably temperamental, extremely temperamental, as he vented his dissatisfaction.

He felt he shouldn’t be such a person, yet in facing them, he couldn’t seem to control his emotions.

Ellie Wilton returned to the kitchen, her mind oddly unsettled that day. As she made coffee, she didn’t notice when it overflowed, or she would add sugar again after already doing so. By the time she tasted the coffee she had made, she found it tasted terrible.

For the coffee she prepared for customers, she would usually have a special set of utensils for tasting. Only if it passed her own standards would she let the shop assistant serve it to the customers.

Seeing that she was out of sorts, the other baristas asked her to take a break to prevent further waste of their premium beans and the sugar and milk they had imported from abroad.

Ellie Wilton felt apologetic and handed over the kitchen to them, retreating to her own office room.

After pondering a while, she still decided to make a call to Marcus Parker.

Marcus Parker was now mostly living a retiree’s life, yet he still wielded real power within the Parker Group, for instance, being called in for significant decisions when his children needed him at the company.

Alexander Parker, the eldest, was the current CEO of the Parker Group, managing its big and small affairs. However, he didn’t have absolute authority since the group had Directors and shareholders, and, currently, the largest share remained with Marcus Parker himself.

Even in retirement, he hadn’t divided his shares equally among his four children. Truth be told, he wasn’t too confident in any of them. The Parker Group had consumed his life’s work to reach its current scale, and he truly didn’t want to see it destroyed by any of his offspring.

He had even considered that it might be better to hand the group over to a capable outsider. After all, it was his kingdom that he had established, and he wanted to ensure its longevity, that it would continue to stand tall even a long time after his death.

Thus, his beliefs differed from the previous head of the Parker Family; there wasn’t a requirement for the Parker heirs to inherit the family business. So when his father realized his legitimate children were incompetent, he finally turned his attention to him and his mother.

Apart from a few elders and contemporaries in the Parker Family, no one was aware that Marcus Parker was also the illegitimate son of the family head. His mother, having attained a certain status through her son for several years, had been forced into difficult living conditions when young, leaving her in poor health. She hadn’t enjoyed many good years before passing away.

Marcus Parker later renamed the Parker Group to its current title, as under his management it had grown to more than double the size of the original Parker Family enterprise. He felt that while the Parker Family had made him who he was, without him, there would be no Parker Group as it stood, and it was fitting to rename it after himself.

Today, the Parker Group needed to make a decisive vote, so after Marcus Parker had taken his beloved wife to her Café, he went straight to the group’s office, as they had agreed to have lunch together.

Anna Turner had not expected to run into Jordy Wade again at the Café, and to be so embarrassingly rebuffed. Back in the office room, the more she pondered, the less she understood, so she couldn’t help but make a call to Marcus Parker.

Marcus Parker was listening to a project analysis report by Alexander Parker when he saw Anna Turner’s call. Taking the phone, he stood up and walked out without a care for the curious glances from everyone present.
