Chapter 760: Chapter 760: On the Eve of the Grand Wedding (6)
"I quit my job, why aren’t you happy?" Carolline Ruiz continued to pack up the things at hand.
"I’m not unhappy, I just don’t like that you didn’t discuss it with me. Aren’t you still considering me your best friend? I’m even Axel’s godmother." Megan Clifton sat down with a huff.
"Of course you’re still my best friend. Okay, okay, the decision was a bit sudden. I made it on the spur of the moment last night because I hadn’t thought it through before. So I didn’t find the right time to tell you. Don’t get agitated." Carolline feared that if Megan got too agitated, she might jolt the baby out, and that would be a disaster.
"..." Megan knew Carolline was appeasing her.
"What plans do you have for tonight? I’ll have Andy Aguirre host a dinner." Megan wouldn’t stay angry for too long, maybe just gloomy for a little while.
"Tonight? Our families are having dinner together with the Hawkins Family to discuss the last details." Carolline shrugged, "Alright, you’re pregnant and don’t have many worry-free days left. It’d be better if you didn’t think about eating out all the time. Have a nutritious and healthy meal at home instead."
Megan turned around and left immediately.
It was half-past five in the afternoon when Carolline got off work. She took her belongings back home, and starting tomorrow, she didn’t have to worry about waking up early for work. Over the next few days, she could sleep in and recover from the fatigue. Then, on the day of the wedding, she would be a beautiful bride.
Bryan Hawkins came over just past six. Emily Hill and Henry Ruiz were dressed to the nines, even Axel was dressed like a little gentleman. Only Carolline was dressed casually.
Carolline had no choice but to return to her room and change into an outfit that met everyone’s expectations. Only when Emily was satisfied did they set off.
The dinner was held at the Royal Manor, which was also where their wedding banquet would take place.
The Hawkins Family had arrived early. William Hawkins and Madelyn Lincoln didn’t attend, but Camelia Hawkins did. Dustin Paul was also there because Bryan knew that he was a decent photographer. They discovered his talent only after their wedding photoshoot was complete. Otherwise, they would have hired him to shoot it all.
So, Dustin was one of the photographers for their entire wedding ceremony. After all, one photographer would not be enough on the big day. Bryan wanted to capture their wedding from multiple angles to present a complete and perfect story.
Both parties spent a few minutes exchanging pleasantries. Then Grandma Hawkins waved to Axel to come and sit beside her.
Sophia Lawson led Emily Hill to sit beside her, and the two women began to whisper about the wedding details. Austin Hawkins was chatting with Henry Ruiz, and it seemed everyone was keeping busy.
Bryan and Carolline didn’t say much and just sat there, listening to the others have a conversation.
Worried that little Axel might be hungry, Grandma Hawkins hurried to have the dishes served.
Halfway through the meal, the two women finally sorted out the details of the entire wedding ceremony. After listening to Sophia’s report, Grandma Hawkins squinted at the lively couple across from her, "Oh, by the way, Bryan, you and Carolline should live separately before the wedding. Carolline, you go back to your parents’ home, and Bryan, you can stay at the villa or at an apartment. You shouldn’t see each other before the wedding. It’s tradition."
"Why? Grandma..." Bryan was puzzled, thinking that tonight’s dinner was just for discussing the wedding. But now that they had finished discussing the details, why did he suddenly have to be separated from Carolline for so many days?
In the past, it seemed as if there weren’t many days left before the wedding, but now with this separation, these days would feel so much longer.
"There’s no reason why. It’s just tradition. This is how it was for William and Sophie Carlson too. This is for your own good. Grandma would never harm you." Grandma Hawkins tried her best to persuade him, making sure he couldn’t argue back.
Bryan: "..."
Bryan was very frustrated, but Carolline happily accepted the arrangement.
So, by the end of the meal, Bryan was the only one left sulking while everyone else was enjoying themselves just fine.
