"Hello, Jasmine, what’s up?" Carolline Ruiz asked calmly, she had genuinely forgotten, it wasn’t intentional.

"Carolline, are you getting forgetful due to your high status? I mentioned this to you before, I wanted you to ask when your husband is free. Christopher and I would like to invite you both to dinner, to talk about some matters. You forgot about it, right?" Jasmine Ruiz was a bit angry, but given that they needed a favor, she had to suppress her irritation a little.

"I’m sorry, Jasmine. I really did forget. I’ll talk to him later and call you after he’s arranged a time." Only then did Carolline remember. She had a spat with Bryan Hawkins previously, which perhaps made her forget about it.

"Okay, I’ll wait for your call. Let’s speed it up this time, Carolline. Once this matter is settled, I won’t forget your help," Jasmine thought for a moment and added.

"Don’t say it like that, Jasmine. In this matter, I’m just the messenger. Whether it happens or not, it’s not up to me," Carolline said what she always said. She didn’t want Bryan’s involvement in her own family matters because of their marital relationship.

"Okay, okay, I get it. It’s well known how much your husband dotes on you. How could he possibly refuse your request? I’ll hang up now and wait for your good news," Jasmine snapped impatiently, hanging up the phone.

Carolline: "..."

Carolline was at a loss for words. Although Bryan doted on her, it didn’t mean that he had to agree to all her decisions, especially regarding the company’s affairs. After all, he is a businessman, not a philanthropist. All investments must take profits into account, he can’t just make loss-making deals.

Carolline didn’t realize that she was already unconsciously siding with her husband.

When Bryan Hawkins came out after taking a bath, he found Carolline in a daze. He walked over, leaned in towards Carolline, and said, "What a nice scent. Wife, what are you thinking about?"

He reached out and lifted a strand of Carolline’s black hair. It was black, soft, and fluffy, and felt comforting in his hand.

"Nothing much. Jasmine and Christopher want to invite you to dinner in the next few days. Christopher seems to have some business problems, so they’re hoping you could help. I promised to pass on the message, but I also said you might not agree," Carolline told Bryan everything.

"Wife, I have something to tell you too. I have a business trip to J Country tomorrow. I need to handle some matters personally. It might take a week. If their matter isn’t urgent, I can meet them for dinner as soon as I return. What do you think?" Bryan said apologetically.

He had just been informed about a situation in J Country. He tried to handle it via video call earlier in the afternoon, but the situation had escalated out of control. Thus, he had to go personally and had booked an early flight for the next day.

"Yeah, no problem, you go ahead and take care of your work." Carolline nodded, "I’ll call Jasmine and let her know."

Carolline didn’t notice Bryan’s reluctance to leave as she reached for the phone to call Jasmine. However, Jasmine didn’t pick up.

"She didn’t answer. You can call her tomorrow." Bryan took her phone, turned it off, and put it on the bedside table. They only had a few hours left together until tomorrow.

They had promised not to leave each other again. Although they had avoided many opportunities for separation, some situations were inevitable, and they had no choice.

That was why he wanted Carolline to resign. This way, when he needed to leave, he could bring Carolline along to handle matters. Perhaps they could even take some time to travel together.
