Carolline had just sat down when she saw Axel eating an ice cream, and immediately snatched it up. "What are you doing eating ice cream before dinner? Do you want a stomachache later?"

After stating her name, Carolline couldn’t help but glance at Gary, who buried his face, not wanting to look at them. Just as Carolline was feeling puzzled, Phoebe resumed speaking.

"Carolline, what a nice name." Phoebe smiled, then turned to Bryan. "Mr. Hawkins, are you unhappy to see me today? Not a word to say yet?"

"I’m delighted, Miss Edwards. How about I offer you a toast, and after that, you enjoy your meal, okay?" Bryan might be anxious inside, but he appeared far more composed than Gary on the outside.

Of course, he knew Gary didn’t want to face the fact that he couldn’t control Phoebe, so he’d let him fend for himself.

"We all know each other, so we might as well dine together." Phoebe smiled, set her beer glass down, and twisting her slender waist, asked the waiter to combine their two tables.
