Chapter 666: Chapter 666: Affection No More (5)
"Alright, I got it." The police officer nodded in understanding.
This time, Daisy Willow didn’t fall down again. Regardless if it was Debbie Duncan or Jane Auclair, she wouldn’t let them off easily for harming Elena Duncan.

After Debbie finished handling her business, she went to the marketplace to buy groceries. For the past few days, she had been the one cooking for Cole Duncan at home, since Elena was still missing, and Cole wasn’t actively dealing with their company’s affairs.
Debbie was happy, thinking that maybe this way, they wouldn’t need to sell Duncan Family’s assets. At that time, her son would still be the high-ranking CEO, and she would remain the noble Mrs. Duncan.
That was good enough. As for Elena, she would just suffer for a few more days. After her mother repaid all their debts to the Duncan Family, she would make it up to the young girl.
Although she was cold-blooded and ruthless, the girl was still the only blood relative of the Duncan Family. She never intended to kill her.
However, Debbie never expected that as soon as she reached her doorstep, several people rushed out and surrounded her. The police officer took out his credentials and spoke officially, "Ms. Debbie Duncan, we suspect that you are involved in a child kidnapping case. Please cooperate with our investigation. Take her away."
"You all..." Debbie couldn’t believe it, but the officers didn’t listen to her explanations and restrained her. "I want a lawyer to sue you all."
"You have the right to do so." The police officer opened the door of the police car, and Debbie was taken away.
At the same time, his phone rang. The person on the other end had detained Jane Auclair, but the little girl hadn’t been found. The police officer furrowed his brows and ordered, "Take them back first."
"Yes, sir." The person on the other end respectfully responded and hung up the phone.
Debbie and Jane were taken to the Police Station and interrogated separately. The police officer personally interrogated Debbie. This old woman had strong adaptability, so no useful information could be retrieved from her.
She insisted that she had nothing to do with the kidnapping and that she was Elena’s grandmother. She couldn’t believe that a grandmother would kidnap her granddaughter, so she wanted to wait for her lawyer to arrive before saying anything.
The police officer also wanted to ask if Debbie was a normal person under normal circumstances, but she seemed to be blinded by greed and disregarded her family bonds.
On the other hand, Jane insisted that she had nothing to do with the kidnapping and knew nothing. Since she wasn’t caught at the scene, she might still have a chance to escape if she strongly denied any involvement. In any case, she couldn’t confess.
After questioning both of them, no useful clues were found. There was no evidence against Jane, so they could only detain her for 48 hours. If someone came to bail her out then, they wouldn’t have a valid reason to refuse.
Debbie, on the other hand, calmly faced the recorded phone call. "I just wanted that woman to return the money she owed our family. Since I couldn’t do it myself, I hired a professional debt collector. What’s wrong with that?"
So, it had nothing to do with kidnapping the child.
Although things seemed to be falling into place, the woman’s clever sophistry left the police officer self-reflective. He had acted impulsively before, especially since many pieces of evidence were still incomplete.
It was at that moment that Cole, accompanied by Katie, arrived at the Police Station.
"Mr. Duncan, you’re here?" The police officer approached and greeted Cole.
