Chapter 653: Chapter 653: Elena Duncan’s Disappearance (9)
When they arrived at the entrance of the Ice Cream Shop, there was no sign of Elena. Daisy Willow anxiously asked, "Owner, where is the little girl who was here just now?"
Elena hadn’t paid for the ice cream yet, and by logic, the owner shouldn’t have let Elena go.
"How would I know? With so many people, how could I keep an eye on everyone?" The owner was busy with business and didn’t want to deal with Daisy Willow. There were many items to sell in her shop, and she was the only worker, barely able to handle the workload. Even if someone asked her to watch their child, she wouldn’t agree, let alone Daisy, who hadn’t asked for her help. What did Daisy mean by questioning her now?
"We haven’t paid for the ice cream yet, don’t you care about that?" Daisy Willow couldn’t believe the owner would reply like this; they hadn’t even paid yet, but the owner didn’t care at all.
"Many tourists take something and forget to pay; everyone depends on their conscience, we can’t supervise everything." The owner didn’t care, as they made more money anyway. The occasional inconsiderate tourist was not a big deal for her.
Daisy Willow wanted to say more, but the owner had no patience left. "Alright, alright, if you want to pay, pay; if you don’t, consider it a gift from me. Just leave quickly and don’t block my business."
The owner’s disdainful attitude left Daisy Willow somewhat at a loss. She wanted to learn more, but the owner clearly was not interested in talking about it.
Daisy Willow walked toward the resting benches, and then Katie pushed Cole Duncan over. Daisy Willow’s cold eyes shot at Cole Duncan, startling both him and Katie. Cole remained calm, "What happened?"
"...Just now, I took Elena to buy ice cream, and someone snatched my wallet. When I chased after them and came back, Elena was gone. Cole, don’t tell me this is actually..." Daisy Willow couldn’t finish the sentence. In her heart, she didn’t want to believe that Cole could do this to his daughter, but thinking about Cole’s mother, she couldn’t help but doubt him.
"Elena is missing?" Cole looked at Daisy, who was worried, and felt turmoil in his heart.
From what Daisy said, stealing the wallet was just a distraction, and the real goal was clearly to take Elena away.
At this moment, Cole was annoyed that he was disabled; otherwise, who would dare to kidnap his Elena right under his eyes?
Daisy Willow didn’t respond. In her view, she always thought that Elena’s disappearance had something to do with Cole. Why else would it take him so long to use the restroom? Wasn’t he the only disabled person?
"Miss Willow, just now..." Katie saw that Daisy misunderstood Cole and wanted to help him explain. A man who disliked disabled people had tormented and mocked Cole in the restroom, deliberately blocking him from using the restroom. If it weren’t for her bringing someone in, who knew how Cole would have been toyed with by that man? But Cole stopped her, "Katie, go to the Zoo’s Guard Room and find the person in charge; I want to see the security footage."
Daisy Willow’s eyes widened; why hadn’t she thought of that? She was too focused on blaming Cole.
Katie didn’t say anything more and pushed Cole toward the Zoo’s person in charge. Daisy Willow followed closely, anxiously, but at the same time, she told herself to stay calm.
The three arrived at the front entrance of the Zoo, found one of the staff members, and explained the situation that their child had been lost. The staff was very enthusiastic and helpful, making a phone call and notifying the patrol team. They split into two groups, one driving Daisy around the Zoo to search for Elena, and the other, following Cole’s request, watching the security footage, focusing especially on the Ice Cream Shop near the Tiger Garden.
Daisy, accompanied by the staff, circled around the Tiger Garden but couldn’t find anyone. Tears streamed down her face, but she didn’t cry out loud. Seeing a woman cry silently, the staff also felt sad, as a child was so important to a family, and without a child, a family would be destroyed, let alone an incomplete family like theirs.
A child was even more crucial for their family.
They searched more urgently, and the Zoo repeatedly played advertisements, showing their gratitude for their help. While grateful, Daisy worried more about Elena.
Who took away her Elena?
While they were still searching, Cole called Daisy and, without any hesitation, she answered the phone, "Ask them to bring you back; we’ll go to the Police Station to report the case."
"...Report the case? What happened?" Daisy felt her legs go weak, they really had to involve the police.
"We’ll talk when you get here." Cole hung up the phone.
Daisy was quickly taken to the entrance where Katie came running over, "Just now we saw that two men took Elena out of the Zoo. The Zoo doesn’t have external surveillance, so we have to go to the Police Station. It was initially determined that Elena was kidnapped."
"Kidnapped? In broad daylight, they dared to kidnap a child in a crowded Zoo. Wouldn’t Elena scream when she was taken away?" Daisy found this hard to believe.
"She was knocked unconscious before she was taken away." Cole came out, pushing his wheelchair, with a serious expression.
This time, if he found out who touched Elena, he would give up all his money in a heartbeat and fight with that person.
In his heart, there was a suspect, but he wouldn’t mention it without evidence.
Katie pushed Cole away, and Daisy hesitated for a moment before catching up with them, jogging.
At the Police Station, the police officer quickly started the case about the kidnapped child, establishing a special team to investigate the surrounding surveillance of the Zoo.
This time, Daisy joined them in watching the surveillance footage. G City was vast, and they didn’t know where the two men had taken Elena. Daisy didn’t cry any longer and stared intently at the monitor.
Suddenly, Daisy saw something on the screen and asked them to stop.
The person controlling the video paused and rewound to the part requested by Daisy. They zoomed in on the image, and the three pairs of eyes couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
Even though the two people wore sunglasses, the three of them could recognize them: one was Cole’s mother, and the other was Jane Auclair. What were these two women doing together? Daisy didn’t want to know, but their presence at the entrance of the Zoo could not be ignored.
