Chapter 579: Chapter 579: Sweetness Continues (8)

Carolline bought some local specialties from Rainbow Town. The specialty products in this town were all flower-themed, including dried flower specimens, flowers for making tea, and flower-shaped pastries. Carolline bought quite a few to give as gifts to her colleagues.

Of course, Emily Hill, Celia Wade, and Avery Graham each got individual gifts, while the rest were for the office in general, meaning that anyone who liked them could take them.

At 7:30 pm, they arrived in G City and had dinner together. Bryan Hawkins had originally arranged for his driver to send Natalie Parton and her mother and child, but it turned out that Blake Ruiz came to pick them up along with Ryan Ruiz’s family.

Now there were even more people than before, so Bryan Hawkins arranged for two tables in the same private dining room.

Bonnie Jenkins handed Jasmine Ruiz to her husband and took the initiative to sit next to Natalie Parton, asking, "How was it, sis? Did you have a good time?"

"Of course, it was very fun going out with Carolline and the others. Next time, you should give it a try." Natalie Parton was eating her food, being a bit perfunctory since she didn’t want to deal with Bonnie Jenkins.

Bonnie Jenkins was a smart woman and clearly sensed Natalie’s perfunctory attitude. After spending a few days with Bryan Hawkins and his family, had Natalie lost her way? Bonnie felt a strange feeling about her behavior.

In fact, Christopher Lopez had taken their family on vacation a few years ago, and Natalie went with them as a hanger-on, but her children didn’t go because they were studying. At that time, she was just like Bonnie’s lackey.

But what was she doing now? Completely disregarding Bonnie’s existence.

"Sister-in-law, did anything happen during your trip?" Bonnie Jenkins asked Kylie Stratton with a smile. She had a strange feeling about Natalie’s attitude, and wondered if she was trying to become Jasmine Ruiz’s lackey instead.

Did Bonnie think that Christopher Lopez was no match for Bryan Hawkins, so she didn’t want to flatter Bonnie anymore? Was that it?

Would Bonnie not know what kind of person Natalie was?

Even if Bryan Hawkins was more competent, he was still Jasmine Ruiz’s, not Natalie’s. If Natalie had the ability, why didn’t she let her daughter Avie Ruiz find a better man than Christopher Lopez and see how it went?

She really didn’t know what she was up against, acting all high and mighty.

And there was her own husband, who wasn’t even as capable as Kylie’s husband. Did she really need to give Bonnie a bad attitude?

"No, it went smoothly. Oh, when is Jasmine’s due date?" Kylie Stratton skillfully shifted the focus, knowing Bonnie’s intentions. Even if she didn’t know what Bonnie wanted to ask, she understood that there was often more to her questions than what met the eye.

"Hmm, at the end of next month." Bonnie Jenkins nodded as she spoke.

"Oh, so is my mother-in-law going to be a grandmother or a step-grandmother?" Mrs. Hawkins became excited when she heard that someone was about to have a baby. They now had a child named Axel at home, and her daughter-in-law Sophie Carlson was also pregnant. She was quite happy about that.

However, Sophie Carlson’s due date was at the end of the year.

Whether she would be able to attend Bryan and Carolline’s wedding at that time remained to be seen. But after counting the days, it seemed likely.

"It’ll be a grandmother, Mrs. Hawkins." Bonnie Jenkins respectfully answered Mrs. Hawkins’ question.

"Well, that’s very good." Mrs. Hawkins nodded in agreement.

And so, with each person taking turns speaking, Natalie Parton wasn’t pressured by Bonnie Jenkins anymore to answer questions.

After dinner, because Carolline had to go to work, she and Bryan Hawkins took Axel home early. Kylie Stratton and Henry Ruiz were sent home by the Hawkins family driver. At their home, they took out the gifts for Ryan Ruiz’s family. As for Blake Ruiz’s family, Natalie had already bought some gifts herself, and Bryan Hawkins had paid for them.

She enjoyed free food, drinks, and entertainment without spending a single penny of her own money.

Natalie thought about the times she had gone on trips with Bonnie Jenkins’ family, how much money she had had to spend out of her own pocket, and how she always felt inferior to Kylie. Natalie had always felt that her husband and children were not as good as Bonnie’s.

This time, she went on a trip with Kylie, and they chatted quite a bit between sisters-in-law. In the process, she changed some of her previous thoughts.

The family of three returned home, and Carolline called her parents to ask if they had arrived home. Once they confirmed, she let Axel go take a bath and sleep while she went to take a bath herself.

In the past few days, Bryan Hawkins had discussed with her that Axel was growing up and should not rely on his mother for baths anymore. Whether his father was home or not, he should learn to bathe himself. Axel had agreed to this.

Carolline didn’t object, either, as it was good to teach her son about gender differences sooner rather than later.

After taking a bath, Carolline washed her clothes by hand and hung them on the balcony. Bryan Hawkins came out of the kid’s room and found Carolline on the balcony.

Standing behind her, he said nonchalantly, "So your period is over, right?"

"Yeah, it’s over." Carolline confessed without hesitation.

Her cycle was irregular and her period would last anywhere from three to seven days.

As she continued hanging clothes on the balcony, he turned around and went into the room to take a bath. When Carolline returned, he handed her his just-removed underwear and asked her to wash it for him since her period was over.

He put his underwear down and confidently went back to bed.

Carolline took a look at him, and, without realizing anything was amiss, obediently went to wash his underwear. She even felt like that wasn’t enough, so she turned and asked, "What about your outerwear? Are you not going to wash it?"

"Someone will come to wash the outerwear tomorrow." Obviously, Carolline just needed to wash his underwear.

It didn’t take long to wash one pair of underwear. Carolline scrubbed it a few times, quickly cleaned and rinsed it, then scalded it with boiling water before hanging it up to dry.

When she returned to the bedroom and lay down on her side of the bed, Bryan, who had been lying with his back to her, suddenly turned over and then pounced on her like a fierce beast. Carolline felt her breath tighten, and Bryan’s eyes were burning like fire, as if to set her ablaze.

Unconsciously, Carolline pressed both hands against his chest. The heat coming from him was so intense that she almost instinctively shrank her hands back. But at this moment, he swiftly grabbed her hands that were trying to retreat.
