The two rushed over to join the others, and then went to the beach together for lunch.
The elders had already eaten, and only the younger generation and Axel were left. Jeffrey Ruiz was starving and devoured his food like a hungry wolf.
Axel was taken aback. Was this the same refined uncle he knew?
On the fourth day, they visited two more scenic areas. They had seen the weather forecast the night before saying it would rain, so when they woke up the next morning and opened the window, they saw a beautiful rainbow.
It was only at this moment that Carolline Ruiz realized that Rainbow Town truly lived up to its name. There was probably no other place like Rainbow Town where one could see such a beautiful seven-color rainbow anywhere, anytime, after the rain had cleared.
Axel also saw it. He excitedly ran to his parents’ bedroom and asked Carolline to take pictures for him. "Mom, hurry up and take a picture of the rainbow for me. Elena will love this beautiful rainbow."
Carolline naturally obliged.
On the fifth day, after breakfast, Bryan Hawkins checked out of the hotel and drove their cars away from the hotel parking lot.
Axel was still reluctant to leave. "Dad, are we going home now?"
He felt he hadn’t played enough, not expecting Rainbow Town to be so much fun.
It would have been even more fun if Auntie and Elena had been there.
"No, we’re going to drive to a zoo first. After that, we’ll have lunch and then go home. Your mom has to work tomorrow." The last part meant they had to return today.
"Oh." Axel glanced at Carolline, knowing that she had been working hard to make up for the time spent playing with him.
"What’s with the long face? We’re still going to the zoo, aren’t we?" Bryan pinched Axel’s little nose. Can’t this kid catch the main point in his dad’s words?
"I don’t like zoos." Axel thought zoos smelled bad.
"This zoo is different from the ones you usually visit. When we go in, we’ll drive with our windows closed, and the animals will be outside our cars. Trust me, Axel, you’ll love it." Carolline squatted down and persuaded him.
Axel had been too young before, so even though there was a zoo in G City, Carolline had never taken him to see it.
"Really?" Axel’s interest was piqued.
Bryan nodded, and Axel’s interest surged, and he forgot about the annoyance of going home.
Sophia Lawson had a fear of hair, so she refused to go. Naturally, Austin Hawkins stayed outside with her. The Hawkins grandparents went in with them. They didn’t get carsick or have any other odd quirks, so it was all good.
Axel loved it and got super excited seeing each animal. Watching animals in the wild was different from those in cages. The clever monkeys would run up to the car roof and knock on it, and the tigers and lions would be right outside the window. He felt both excited and nervous, fearing that the beasts might accidentally open the car door.
Axel was the kind of kid who was both afraid and fascinated by the animals. He was scared of the fierce animals, but he wouldn’t hide from them. He would press himself against the window and gaze intently at them.
Bryan Cooper sped up, allowing Axel to see each animal in a hurry before noon.
At two o’clock, after lunch, the group set off to return to G City.
On the way back, Carolline slept and didn’t wake up until they got home.
