Chapter 556: Chapter 556: Evil Begets Evil (2)
"You look down on him so much, if I really married him, wouldn’t you even refuse to attend the wedding banquet?" Avery was somewhat speechless, unable to comprehend how one person could be seen with such a difference in other people’s eyes.
"How could that be? But seriously, if you’re going to get married, think it over carefully," Carolline Ruiz shook her head, she would definitely go to the wedding banquet.
"What the hell are you two gossiping about?" Celia Wade was somewhat speechless. They were just enjoying the fruits of other’s labor, but it was true that they couldn’t really help out in the kitchen. "I’m the most pitiful one here, okay? None of you have shown any sympathy for me."
"How are you the most pitiful?" Carolline shook her head, having access to food and wine every day wasn’t pitiful at all.
"Daisy Willow is leaving, you know. She told me earlier that they’re going back to their old house tomorrow. When they return, she wants to buy a house and move her family here, so I’ll have to go back to living alone," lamented Celia. Thinking about it just made it feel even worse.
"Really? Then I’ll move in?" Avery suddenly thought of something. Her rent was almost up, with only one month left. "My rent is due at the beginning of next month, and the landlord is going to raise the price again. It’s unbearable."
"You should have enough money for a down payment on a house, right? You’re not poor, so what are you afraid of?" Carolline mocked.
"Sure, I have enough for the down payment, but what’s the point? After buying a bare house, I won’t have enough for renovations. So after taking possession of the house, I can’t move in, and what, I’m supposed to pay property management fees every month for nothing?" She wasn’t a fool, and renting a house wasn’t too bad for now.
"You really know how to work out the details," Celia laughed. "That’s great, move in with me. It’ll help me with half the rent, and I don’t want to live alone anyway."
Celia smiled. She had lived alone long enough. She had sent a text message to Jordy Wade last time, but in the end, she still didn’t get a reply. She extended her deadline indefinitely, but in the end still rejected her superior’s pursuit of her, without any response from Jordy.
As a result, she missed out on the opportunity to progress in her career which was taken by someone else.
But she didn’t really think there was anything wrong with it. After all, her job was just to kill time from boredom. She wasn’t lacking money; she just didn’t want to spend all her time dwelling on things in her mind and needed to do something to distract herself.
Otherwise, it would be unbearable to endure all 24 hours of a day.
"Deal," Avery agreed without hesitation.
"..." Carolline was thoroughly speechless. Even she, who didn’t consume junk food, poured herself a glass of cola and ate a chicken wing. Axel, seeing her, handed her a small bag, "Mom, add some chili powder. It’ll taste even better."
"You sure know how to eat!" Celia pinched Axel’s cheek.
"Um, don’t pinch Axel’s cheeks in the future, it’s not good to pinch them too much," spoke someone who had been sipping tea with Mr. Willow by his side.
Celia, startled, quickly withdrew her hand. This protective attitude towards Axel was really baffling.
"Elena, let’s go to our room and play checkers," Axel giggled mischievously and hugged one of the Family Meals, speaking to Elena Duncan. Then, he grabbed half a bottle of cola, thinking the adults ate too quickly, and as children, they ate slower. They needed to think of a way to save some food for themselves, otherwise, the adults would finish everything before they got to eat.
"Sure." Elena understood Axel’s intention.
"Take a little out first, we’ll have dinner later, and there’s still steak." Carolline called out to Axel.
