"..." Mr. Willow snorted and looked behind him. Fortunately, Celia Wade was not awakened by his rude gesture. He then turned back to face her, his voice lowered significantly, but he still wore a serious expression. "So tell me, do you still want to stay here? Are you going to let the Duncan family bully a widow and her orphan daughter?"
"No, Dad, Mom, the conditions in G City are better. Cole Duncan is willing to give so much alimony, all because Elena is his daughter. As a father, he wants to provide a better living and educational environment for her. I know home is great, but Elena is already used to G City. She has friends in kindergarten here, and I’m afraid it would be hard for her to adapt back home. It’s better for her to grow up in a familiar city."
Daisy Willow wished for a bright future for Elena. Which parent wouldn’t want to give their child the best? Although she didn’t have the means, she now managed a significant sum of money for Elena. It should be used now and not saved for when she’s grown up.
"Exactly, our daughter is right." Mrs. Willow was quickly convinced by Daisy’s words.
"What do you mean, she’s right? What do you know, old woman?" Mr. Willow was quite angry.
"Grandpa, Grandma, now that Mom has money, we can buy a big house here and invite you, Grandma, as well as Uncle and Auntie to live with us. We can even have Brother Kent come here to study. We’ll all stay together as a family and never be apart again, okay?" Seeing her grandpa angry, Elena quickly put down her chopsticks and tried to coax him.
Having spent so much time with her grandfather, Elena now understood his temper. He had a bad temper but a good heart, and he was never stern with her. Even when he was angry at her mom, a few sweet words would make him smile again.
"..." Mr. Willow, hearing Elena’s words, couldn’t stay mad any longer. Mrs. Willow smoothly helped to mediate the situation.
"Yes, Mom and Dad, that’s what I’ve been thinking. Elena spoke my mind. We all want to stay together as a family." Daisy Willow looked at her father intently and sincerely.
"Well, we’ll have to discuss it with your big brother and sister-in-law." Mr. Willow finally relented. ’A family together’— these six words sounded so perfect. It didn’t matter where they were, as long as they were together.
"Okay, Daisy, eat up. After you’re done, I’ll accompany you to Cole Duncan’s company." Mrs. Willow also filled a bowl with porridge and picked up a steamed bun to munch on.
"Okay," Daisy Willow nodded in agreement.
At 9:30 in the morning, Daisy and her mother arrived at the Duncan building. Upon seeing Daisy, the receptionist led them to the elevator and even pressed the right floor button for them. The two of them reached Cole Duncan’s office without any problems.
Cole Duncan had prepared the documents by 9:00. The lawyer and notary were present, making everything legitimate and official. Daisy looked over the contract and signed her name.
"This money should be transferred to your account within a week. Including the time it takes to process the paperwork, it should be around half a month. Also, there’s two million in cash, which I had transferred into your name yesterday. Make sure to receive it."
Cole Duncan sat in his wheelchair, still looking quite spirited. During work, he appeared no different from his usual self.
"Thank you." Daisy nodded. She had not expected things to go so smoothly, thinking Mrs. Duncan or Jane Auclair would try something sneaky.
"You’re welcome. Can I take Elena out for a weekend trip before she starts school? I’ll be quite busy for a while, so I won’t have time to be with her until then."
