Chapter 549: Chapter 549: Defy the Battle (3)
Daisy Willow took Elena Duncan and got in a taxi, her heart pounding and feeling somewhat at a loss. She wasn’t sure what Irene Houston meant by her words, but she thought that since Irene was willing to divorce such a good man like Simon Carrington, it could only mean there were too many ungrateful people in this world.
Both men and women.
While they were still thinking about the issue with Simon Carrington, Daisy’s parents got out of bed. Not seeing their daughter and granddaughter, Daisy’s father asked her mother to call Daisy, "Felicia, where are you and Elena?"
Upon answering the call, Daisy heard her mother’s anxious voice.
Mainly because it was so early, and they were not in bed; usually, Elena would sleep until eight o’clock, wouldn’t she?
"We’re in the car and will be back soon," Daisy thought about taking Elena to the Duncan family to find Cole Duncan, but then she was worried about meeting Mrs. Duncan and Jane Auclair, which would cause unpleasantness. So, she decided to take Elena back home first and then go by herself.
"Oh, alright, mom made some millet porridge. Hurry back and have some." Not asking more questions when her mother heard they’d be back soon, she hung up the phone.
"Where did they go so early?" Daisy’s father walked up and asked.
"... uh, I didn’t ask. She said they’d be back soon," Daisy’s mother hesitated for a moment. She only cared about her daughter’s safety and didn’t think to ask where she had gone. Her daughter was already grown up and didn’t need to report everything to her, did she?
"That’s just like you, it’s because of our carelessness back then that Daisy met scumbags like Cole Duncan and got deceived by them," Daisy’s father immediately blamed Daisy’s mother. At that time, their family was quite poor, and their children had started working outside early. Building their house at the time, they borrowed money from everywhere, and for a long time afterward, everyone had been working hard to pay off the debts.
"Sigh, hasn’t that already passed?" Daisy’s mother murmured, not wanting to bring up the past events. After all, they had already divorced, and her daughter’s biggest wish now was that Elena was by her side. It was good enough to have such an outcome.
"It’d better be in the past, otherwise, I will never let the Duncan family off," Daisy’s father pursed his lips. If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn’t have known how Cole Duncan and his mother had treated their family’s Daisy.
Thinking about how Mrs. Duncan was so infuriated by Simon’s lawyer that she fell ill on the spot, he felt incredibly delighted. He hadn’t thought that Simon was that capable, but later, he learned that the lawyer’s abilities were indeed impressive.
"Alright, alright, let’s not talk about it," Daisy’s mother waved her hand. As for the Duncan family’s matter, it should be considered a nightmare in the first part of Daisy’s life. The nightmare had finally come to an end, so there was no need to think about it anymore.
About twenty minutes later, Daisy and Elena opened the door to their home. As it was the weekend, Celia Wade was still in bed, so the family moved about quietly inside the rooms.
Daisy took Elena to the dining table to drink millet porridge and have some steamed buns. After her father finished a bowl of porridge, two buns, and two steamed buns, he looked at Daisy, "Now that we’ve won the lawsuit, should we pack up and go back?"
"Dad, I wanted to discuss this with you and mom. I’ve thought about it..." Before Daisy could finish her words, her father became angry. With a loud smack, he slapped the table.
"What are you doing, old man? Our daughter is still sleeping, and it’s her rare day off on the weekend. Do you want to wake her up, is that it?" Daisy’s mother glared at her husband. The most critical sentence had not been spoken yet, and she was frightened to see how Elena reacted.
