Chapter 546: Chapter 546: Success in Lawsuit (8)

"Grandpa actually knew all along." Irene Houston’s words made Simon Carrington completely dumbfounded.

He had always known that his grandpa was smart, but he had believed that during their marriage, he and Irene had put on a convincing act in front of the Carrington family. How could his grandpa have known everything?

"Grandpa had been in love before. He and Grandma were very much in love. So, of course, there’s a difference between two people who are in love and two people who are not." Irene recounted what her grandfather had said to her.

Of course, Irene was also at fault because she wore an item around her neck, embedded with a photo of the man she loved. In this lifetime, she only loved him, but fate was cruel, separating two people who loved each other.

"What about Stella?" Simon Carrington was curious about where Stella would fit into all this. If she found out that she was not a member of the Carrington family, could this girl, who had always been as proud as a princess, accept it?

"Let her be your daughter, Simon. I will make it up to you in the next life, even if I become a cow or horse to repay you. In this life, this is the best I can do." Irene pleaded. She still loved Stella, even more than she loved Liam Carrington, as Stella was the child she had longed for. She didn’t want her mistakes to cause Stella any grievances.

"Since you’ve already decided, when we return to Kyoto, we’ll handle the necessary procedures." Simon Carrington calmly accepted. If Grandpa could accept it, why couldn’t he? What he cared about was Grandpa’s feelings, not the marriage itself.

"There’s also the matter of you helping Miss Willow with her divorce lawsuit. Grandpa knows about it and the misunderstanding that had been spread before. He said that Miss Willow is actually a good person." Irene also agreed. At that time, she thought that Simon and Daisy Willow were quite compatible.

This was also her thought, otherwise, with his status as the young master of the Carrington family, he wouldn’t have gotten involved with a married woman. The Carrington family would have been furious if he had, rather than waiting for further news.

"..." Simon stared at Irene. He didn’t think he was so terrible that just after ending one loveless marriage, he would plunge into another one.

Couldn’t he try a marriage based on love instead?

What he felt towards Daisy Willow was merely sympathy, and he couldn’t stand to see Cole Duncan, a man, bullying a weak woman like her.

"Then just forget what I said." Irene, feeling ashamed under Simon’s gaze, lowered her head and left.

As the door opened and closed, it was the longest conversation they had shared since getting married apart from their pre-wedding negotiations.

After Irene left, he quickly took a shower and lay in bed, taking out the Barbie doll he had bought for Stella. Inexplicably, Elena’s cute face appeared in his mind.

Stella was adorable, too, but compared to Elena, she seemed to lack something. He didn’t know if Stella would like this gift, but Elena seemed to like it a lot.

As he thought about this, Daisy Willow called him. Simon hesitated for a moment but answered, "Lawyer, have you gone to bed? Did I disturb you?"

Her tone was very careful, as if she was afraid of angering him.

"I haven’t slept yet, please tell me what you want." Simon calmly said, as he put the Barbie doll aside.

"You’re going back to Kyoto tomorrow and I don’t know when you’ll be in G City next. For the attorney fees, I’ll directly transfer it to your account. What do you think?" Daisy returned home, helped Elena bathe, and then remembered that she hadn’t paid Simon’s attorney fees. He was leaving tomorrow, and she wanted to make sure she didn’t owe him anything.

"Okay, I’ll send you my account number in a while." After thinking about it, Simon agreed. He knew that Daisy didn’t want to owe anyone, and he wasn’t used to being owed either. So, he had to insist on what was due, regardless of his wealth.

Settling their accounts would sever any connection between the two in the future.

"Well, Elena wants to speak with you for a moment. Is that okay?" Daisy sat on the bed making the call to Simon while her daughter raised her hand, insisting on talking with Uncle Simon.

"Alright, give her the phone." Simon couldn’t help but smile, thinking of Elena’s adorable face. His heart softened, as if she were his own daughter.

Stella would pester him like this, too, calling him every day when he was away on business trips. Her soft, sweet voice was delightful to listen to.

"Uncle Simon, Mom says you’re going home with Auntie Irene tomorrow. I prepared a gift for you. What time is your flight tomorrow? Mom and I will see you off and I’ll give you the gift, okay?" Elena’s soft voice rang in Simon’s ear.

"Tomorrow’s a bit early, little Elena. Can you wake up on time?" Their flight was at 7:30, so they needed to arrive at the airport before 7:00.

"Don’t worry, I’ve had experience waking up at 5:30." Elena nodded, assuring him.

Elena’s gift was actually a drawing, which she treasured dearly and wouldn’t even show her mother. She had left it at home when they went out earlier, but when she saw the drawing before bedtime, she insisted on calling Uncle Simon.

"Alright, so we’ll meet at the airport at 7:00, okay?" Simon nodded, the corners of his mouth turning up into a wide smile, even anticipating the gift Elena had prepared for him.

"Okay, Uncle Simon, Mom says it’s getting late, so you should sleep early. Good night." Elena handed the phone back to Daisy.

"Good night." Simon said in a deep voice, which Daisy heard and blushed, "Uh, Lawyer, good night."

"..." Well, someone still thought the other party was a child.

And so, the call ended, leaving only a busy tone in his ear.
