Chapter 544: Chapter 544: Success in Lawsuit (6)

I’m not sure if my parents can adapt to city life.

"....Sigh, just like Carolline Ruiz, you can’t enjoy the blessings of life, can you?" Celia Wade shook her head, feeling powerless. She didn’t want to go home early; she didn’t want to be too idle.

When a person is idle, they tend to overthink, and she did not want to overthink.

On the car with Bryan Hawkins and Carolline Ruiz, Axel couldn’t suppress his frustration anymore, no longer able to hold back, "Mum and Dad, why are Elena Duncan’s parents getting divorced?"

"It’s because there’s no affection between them anymore." Carolline Ruiz stepped in to explain, "Elena Duncan lives in a household where there is no love which causes her inherent unhappiness."

"Is that why people get divorced? Will you two...one day end up like that as well?" Axel was worried that this situation could happen to him as well.

Previously, it was the kid’s parents from other families getting divorced, which didn’t worry him. But now, seeing this situation happen so close to him, specifically to Elena Duncan, made him genuinely fear that one day he might face the reality of his parents divorcing.

Elena Duncan’s parents’ divorce was saddening to observe and witnessing it happening to him would be even more heartbreaking.

"We won’t, Axel. Our family will always love each other forever. Not only will your mum and I never divorce, but you’ll also have a little sister in the near future, do you understand?" Bryan Hawkins responded to Axel’s query.

"Really?" Axel smiled. Bryan Hawkins nodded affirmatively. However, the thought of Elena Duncan made Axel feel blue again, "Still, poor Elena Duncan."

"Daisy Willow will give Elena double the love, so she won’t be pitiful. If she lives in a household that cannot provide love, that is what’s truly pitiful, you get me? Axel" Carolline Ruiz was well aware that Axel was still young and might not completely comprehend what she was saying. But that’s fine, he’ll understand when he grows older.

Furthermore, Daisy Willow was already divorced now, so she did not want to tell Axel about the things Daisy’s mother did to her.

"Go to sleep now, Axel." suggested Bryan Hawkins. Sometimes, just closing your eyes and calming down can help one to stop overthinking things.

"Okay." Axel closed his eyes.

"Did you notice anything strange between Simon Carrington and his wife?" Carolline Ruiz had been pondering over the matter. It was not appropriate to discuss it during dinner, especially with so many people present, and the people involved were there too.

"No, what was strange?" Bryan Hawkins was usually not attentive to these sort of details, he would no way notice much.

"...." Left without words, Carolline Ruiz gave up. She was too nosy. After all, it’s other people’s private matter and none of her business.

In the end, Carolline dozed off for a while.

—— Breaking Line ——

After Simon Carrington and Irene Houston finished their dinner, they took the elevator up together in silence.

Mainly, Irene Houston didn’t have much to say to Simon Carrington. Their union was a mutual agreement; Irene Houston just needed a marriage that would not cause her any trouble. In turn, Simon Carrington needed an heir to his family lineage.

Now, they already had a son and a daughter, fulfilling their initial agreement. Therefore, besides putting up an act in front of others, they rarely communicated when alone.

The elevator doors opened, and they each headed towards their respective rooms.

The moment Simon Carrington touched his room card against the door, he paused to tell her, "First flight tomorrow morning, do you need me to wake you up?"

"No need, I can wake up on my own." Irene Houston denied immediately. She can set an alarm; she didn’t need him to be too close to her, "Oh yeah, I want a divorce, before you and grandpa head off to M Country."
