Chapter 539: Chapter 539: Success in Lawsuit (1)
"Don’t be like this." Carolline Ruiz spoke coldly, "I don’t know who told you that this matter involves my husband. This operation was launched by the government. If you have evidence that my husband is responsible for it, I think I would be willing to help you. However, you are currently making baseless claims, and I reserve the right to take legal action."
"..." Charlotte Clark looked at her and sneered inwardly. This couple was indeed alike: they both threatened her with legal action, didn’t they?
Unfortunately, she indeed didn’t have any evidence. Even if she brought up Ella Campbell, if Ella denied it later and accused her of making false statements, Charlotte might indeed be convicted of defamation.
She knew she was at a dead end this time. Carolline Ruiz couldn’t be relied on. When the couple joined forces, their combined influence was irresistible.
Time was pressing, and she had to leave on Friday.
"Carolline, if I die in Africa, I wouldn’t let you off even if I became a ghost." After leaving those harsh words, Charlotte Clark turned and left the office.
Regarding the trip to Africa, the hospital leaders and the government were in charge. G City was sending fifty people on this mission, making the scene quite impressive. Phoebe Miller didn’t attend, but before the farewell dinner, she expressed her heartfelt words to these brave souls via video and promised to accompany them for the first week.
Several doctors from People’s Hospital were chosen to accompany Gavin Campbell. Charlotte Clark was isolated because of her previous argument with Carolline Ruiz, in which she publicly criticized Gavin Campbell’s actions as stupid. Since then causing a ruckus in Dean’s Office and making extreme remarks, no one in the hospital dared to pay too much attention to her anymore.
Some people whispered that since she was destined to be doomed and couldn’t escape, they didn’t understand why she was making such a fuss.
Carolline Ruiz and Andy Aguirre had already had dinner with Gavin Campbell. In the cafeteria, Andy specifically bought a meal of oversized drumsticks with cola for Gavin, as a way of expressing their support. They told Gavin to take good care of himself, and they would prepare a feast for him when he returned a year later. Gavin accepted with a smile.
At eight o’clock on Friday, a large delegation set off in the square of G City. Citizens were cheering, and some weeping farewells, most were families of the medical aid team members.
Gavin Campbell was the only child in his family. To reassure him, Andy promised to visit his parents from time to time. Gavin thanked him repeatedly.
With Charlotte Clark’s departure, the hospital restored its peace, and those who had been close to her learned to keep a low profile after experiencing this matter.
Everyone treated Carolline Ruiz even better, feeling as if she had rid them of a menace, even though no one openly said it.
Friday afternoon was the second court session for Daisy Willow and Cole Duncan’s divorce case. The court was expected to make a determination about their situation. Carolline Ruiz happened to be free, so she went to watch. She didn’t call Bryan Cooper, but he came anyway.
The two agreed to meet at the entrance of the court over the phone. Bryan asked about the morning’s medical aid departure event, and Carolline simply explained without much emotion.
Bryan was about to say something when he saw Cole Duncan alighting from a car, accompanied by his family. His expression seemed decent, it appeared he had been taking good care of himself during this period, and Jane Auclair was still accompanying him.
Cole’s mother came out from the passenger seat. Upon seeing them, she was surprisingly calm. There were some people she didn’t like, but she understood well enough, it was best not to provoke those she couldn’t afford to offend.
The Duncan family members entered the courthouse first. Simon Carrington and Daisy Willow arrived soon after. This time, Simon was very confident, and Daisy believed in him, so she appeared even calmer than last time.
