Over at the restroom, Bryan finished using it and saw Charlotte slowly washing her hands at the sink between the men’s and women’s restrooms. She then slowly touched up her makeup.

He walked over and washed his hands. As Charlotte pretended to finish her makeup and retracted her hand, she seemed to accidentally bump Bryan’s arm.

Charlotte feigned surprise, "I’m sorry, Mr. Hawkins."

"..." Bryan Hawkins didn’t respond. He took some soap and applied it to the area Charlotte had touched, scrubbing vigorously. "I have a cleanliness obsession. I especially dislike being touched by unclean people."

"..." Charlotte’s face turned pale. She couldn’t understand why she was considered unclean in Bryan’s eyes.

She knew Carolline fairly well. Their conflict should have been kept between them, and Carolline shouldn’t have told Bryan about it. Yet, it was evident that Bryan was repulsed by her.

Charlotte was still a virgin! She firmly believed in not cohabiting or engaging in premarital sex until she got married, so she was very clean, alright?

Back then, she looked down on Carolline for getting pregnant before marriage. Although Carolline’s background was better than hers, she despised Carolline’s actions.

Little did she know that the man who had impregnated Carolline was none other than Bryan Hawkins. If it had been her in that situation, she would not have refused either.

"Mr. Hawkins, I live a clean and decent life. How am I unclean?" Charlotte looked at Bryan. She thought she looked better than Carolline and that Bryan must be blind.

She had even put on special makeup today, outshining Carolline’s simple face. So why was she still being so repulsive to Bryan?

"Unclean words make an unclean person too, don’t you think?" Bryan scrubbed for a while, reddening the skin on his arm. It was evident how much he wanted to keep away from Charlotte.

"..." Charlotte finally understood. Carolline must have ratted her out. No, perhaps it was Megan. That woman really was insane.

How had she offended Megan? Even after becoming pregnant, she provoked people behind the scenes.

"Mr. Hawkins, please listen to my explanation..." Charlotte didn’t want to be loathed by Bryan, so she anxiously tried to explain. Just as she reached out her hand, she saw his ice-cold stare.

"Try touching me randomly one more time. I let it go the first time, but the second time, I’ll have to take action." Bryan’s words were sharp and severe.

Take action? Did he mean that if she touched him again, he’d cut off her hand?

Charlotte’s mind became hazy. She never knew the man in front of her could be so cold. He used to be so nice to their department when he and Carolline hadn’t completely reconciled, even buying them afternoon tea and smiling at them. Why the dramatic change now?

Was it because she had offended Carolline?

Was Carolline really that important to him, so much so that he wouldn’t even let her touch him?

"You don’t have to explain anything. I don’t want to see you anymore. That’s it." Bryan didn’t give Charlotte a chance to speak. After dropping those words, he strode away.

At this moment, Charlotte genuinely regretted her actions. If she had known it would turn out this way, she would not have rashly followed Bryan. It would have been better to wait until after he left to come to the restroom.
