Chapter 481: Chapter 481: Be a Good Best Friend (8)

She really couldn’t take it anymore, being approached by Nancy Sallow every day for conversations.

"Don’t worry, I won’t." Bernard Taylor glanced at the time, "It’s getting late, you should head up."

"Okay, drive slowly on the road." Avery Graham knew it was getting late, so she got out of the car.

Bernard Taylor watched her enter the residential area before driving away.

When she got home, Avery Graham saw her mother and Giselle Browman waiting for her. Her mother came over with an eager face and asked, "How did it go? Giselle told me that Kent Auclair took you to a banquet."

"..." Avery glanced at Giselle, who lowered her head in embarrassment. She knew that her smart mother couldn’t be fooled, "Yeah, it was just a charity banquet, not some kind of dance party you think."

"No matter what it is, as long as Kent is willing to take you, it means he wants to introduce you to his Moments. That’s enough. By the way, when do you two plan to get married?" Avery’s mother was eager, especially for Avery’s marriage.

Every mother is like this, and Avery understood her mother’s feelings. That’s why she didn’t think much about it when she faced Kent Auclair, intending to give it a try and genuinely wanting to develop a good relationship.

However, even with all her sincerity, it wasn’t like her mother thought, that they were going to get engaged and married soon after.

"It’s still early, we’ve only just started dating for a few days, haven’t we?" Even flash marriages wouldn’t be this rushed, Avery was a little depressed.

"Well, there are people who get married right after their blind date and get their marriage certificate the same day." Avery’s mother felt that Kent Auclair’s conditions were good in various aspects, and Avery shouldn’t miss the opportunity.

She wanted Avery to quickly bring Kent home, so she could show off in front of her neighbors, instead of always being envious of them.

So her mother’s plan was to get married by the end of the year, and have grandchildren by next year. That’s the best plan.

"That kind of thing won’t be done by your daughter." Avery put down her bag and poured herself a glass of water. She didn’t drink much water at the banquet and had spoken a lot with Bernard Taylor, so she was really thirsty now.

Before finishing the water, Kent Auclair called her, mainly to ask if she had returned home safely.

Avery told him she was home, and Kent relaxed, not blaming her for leaving without saying anything. He told her to rest early, and they didn’t chat any further.

Avery’s mother listened and had an even better impression of Kent, "He just called you, knowing that you weren’t home yet, and he’s been worried. I think this man is really good and treats you well."

"I know, mom. In addition to his good character, we also need to see if our personalities match. I don’t want to rush into marriage and then find out we aren’t suitable after. So, I want to spend more time together and understand him better." Avery explained patiently.

Avery’s mother wanted to say something else, but Giselle agreed with her cousin’s words and quickly chimed in, "Auntie, what my cousin said is right. It’s better for two people to understand each other more thoroughly. Otherwise, if they find out they’re not suitable after marriage, that would be the real trouble."

"Never mind, you young people think too much. At our time, when I was your age, I was already married to your uncle and your father. Avery is already old enough." Her mother sighed helplessly. She wanted to seriously discuss the issue of Avery and Kent today, but her daughter and niece managed to sidetrack her again, "Find a time for Kent to come home for dinner."

"Okay, I understand, Mom. I’m tired. I’m going to take a bath." Avery nodded and went to her room to take a bath.

Her mother didn’t linger, she still had an old man waiting for her to take care of him at home, so she couldn’t stay in Avery’s place overnight. Luckily, her own home wasn’t far away; it only took fifteen minutes by taxi.

After sending her mother away, Giselle Browman went into Avery’s room. Avery was really in the bathroom taking a bath, so Giselle went out.

After Avery finished her bath, she took out a hair dryer and blew her hair half dry. Then she lay on the bed, turned on the air conditioner, and played with her phone for a while ─ she felt quite bored.

She thought about her conversation with Bernard Taylor in his car and how she had blurted out the term "best friend." When she first met Bernard, she thought he was effeminate. But later, when she saw him working and performing surgeries, he actually looked quite manly.

He probably sensed the hidden meaning in her words, so his face turned completely dark for a moment, which was quite frightening at the time but seemed a bit funny now.

Avery didn’t know why thoughts of him popped up in her head at this moment. He said he was going abroad, so he wouldn’t be able to come for the weekend dinner with her and Kent.

In fact, she didn’t really want to have the dinner, but she had already said it, right?

At that moment, her charging phone rang. Avery unplugged the charger and answered, "Carolline Ruiz, why haven’t you gone to bed so late?"

Carolline and Bryan Hawkins returned home, surprisingly finding Sophia Lawson and Axel in the living room. Axel practiced calligraphy at his great-grandfather’s house today. His great-grandfather had to wake up early the next day, so Axel called his grandmother to pick him up because he missed his parents. He insisted on being sent to the Hawkins family villa, refusing to go back there.

After sending Sophia Lawson away, Bryan Hawkins got tangled up with Axel. So Carolline had time to call Avery, as their previous conversation wasn’t finished.

"Aren’t you not sleeping either?" Carolline retorted, "I just wanted to remind you about something. Your current boyfriend feels like he’s just like Daisy Willow’s husband, a well-behaved boy. If you really intend to be with him, I think you should let him take you home to meet his parents first and see how he interacts with them before considering it."

Carolline still said the words she hadn’t been able to say earlier.

"..." Avery didn’t expect Carolline to call specifically to talk about Kent.

One mother and one friend had completely different feelings about Kent. One thought he was particularly good, while the other thought he was nothing special. Avery didn’t have any particularly good or bad feelings about him.

"Okay, I understand." Avery nodded in agreement, knowing that Carolline was genuinely concerned about her.

"Mhmm." Carolline hung up the phone proactively.

Avery reconnected her phone to charge, then lay on the bed and closed her eyes. She had to wake up early tomorrow. These issues didn’t seem that important to her.
