Chapter 458: Chapter 458: Wishes Come True (2)
In her excitement, Carolline Ruiz didn’t forget to thank her husband and hurriedly called Bryan Hawkins. Xavier Estrada answered the call, "Mrs. Hawkins, Bryan is in a meeting. He just went in. Maybe, you can call him back at noon?"
Xavier treated Carolline with high respect. He now directly called her Mrs. Hawkins. When they were secretly married, he referred to her, equally respectfully, as Miss Carolline.
"Never mind, I just wanted to call and thank him. If he’s busy, I can wait until tonight. Okay? Let him know to come home for dinner tonight, I’ll be cooking," Carolline said to Xavier, blushing as she spoke.
"...Alright, I’ll let Bryan know later on." Xavier replied, suppressing a smile.
"Alright, thank you." Carolline hung up, a bit shy.
After ending the call, Carolline swiftly reserved two spots for Felicia Miller. Regarding the remaining three children’s treatment plans, they had copies of it in their office computers. So, she copied and quickly forwarded them to Felicia.
Upon receiving them, Felicia simply responded with an acknowledgment and didn’t respond any further.
After doing all this, Carolline went to the Inpatient Department to see the five kids and inform them of the good news. The children’s parents were thrilled, gripping Carolline’s hand with gratitude.
They all knew about the charity event the Miller Family was organizing in G City. They had applied, albeit without much hope. Carolline’s news today had caught them off guard and granted them hope for their children’s future.
"You’re welcome. It’s my duty to help you as much as I can. The people you should actually thank are the kind souls in our society. I can only do so much." Carolline humbly responded with a smile.
"Thank you, Nurse Carolline." The room filled with echoed appreciation for Carolline.
Carolline didn’t wish for them to continue thanking her so she quickly left the ward.
Bryan called her back while she was having lunch. His voice was merry, "I heard Mrs. Hawkins is in a good mood today? Is she going to cook dinner for her husband tonight?"
His teasing tone made Carolline flush bright red. Thankfully, she was alone in the room, having her meal from the cafeteria.
"Um, I received a call from the Millers. I wanted to thank you for that. The parents of those five kids, they’ve all found hope now. And it’s all thanks to you. Of course, I should thank you and treat you well in return." Carolline genuinely thanked him, at this moment, she truly wanted to thank him for those five kids.
"...Alright, I accept. But, does treating me well only include dinner?" His last line was infused with a particular insinuation.
Carolline immediately recalled the passionate events of last night. She hadn’t even had the chance to voice her complaints yet, and this inexhaustible man was harboring expectations for tonight.
"...I am having lunch now." Carolline blushed red, wanting to end the call.
"Alright, I’ll pick you up at 5 pm." His routine was much more balanced now, no longer the money-making machine he was. The Hawkins family staff even noticed that their boss seemed more humane.
In most cases, this indicates that something good is on its way or is happening.
"Okay." Carolline hung up the phone.
pm approached swiftly. Carolline shut her computer and packed her stuff up five minutes early. Once it was exactly 5 pm, she promptly left the office, and by the time she reached the entrance, Bryan’s car was already waiting for her.
