Chapter 427: Chapter 427: Daisy Willow’s Rise (4)

"How come you ended up back at Fucla Residential Area last night?" Cole Duncan mumbled, desperately searching for something to start a conversation. He was terrified of the silent treatment that Daisy Willow was giving him.

"Hmm, your mother told me not to come back." Daisy Willow answered truthfully, her voice impassive.

In the past, whenever she entered his room, she would always first ask if he needed anything - helping him use the bathroom, fetching a basin of water to wash him, or serving one of his three daily meals.

Today, Daisy Willow seemed indifferent towards him, didn’t inquire about his needs, and for the first time in their marriage, referred to his mother as ’your mom.’

That meant she was no longer considering his mother as her own.

He remembered the night before their wedding, she had a massive argument with her parents, all for him. The wedding was attended only by his friends and family. On her side, no relative was present which led his mother to develop a dislike for her since then.

In reality, she lost her parents’ support just for his sake. Sadly, his mother never empathized with her sacrifice, but instead, believed that a woman even despised by her own parents was surely no good.

Back then, he believed his mother’s viewpoints were unreasonable, which is why he never tried to explain. Moreover, he had always thought that he would treat Daisy well forever. But over their few years of marriage, all that Daisy received from him was pain, and it only grew worse with time.

"Cole, I came here today to discuss something with you. We... we should get a divorce." Daisy Willow sat on the wooden stool next to Cole Duncan’s bed. "Apart from Elena, I can give everything else up. Regardless of everything, I don’t want to talk about this marriage anymore. Cole, for the sake of our past love, let’s separate on good terms, alright?"

"..." Cole stayed silent, lowered his head, and after some reflection, looked up at her. "Daisy, actually, I’ve wanted to have a serious conversation with you for a while. I am aware that ever since you married me, you have suffered. I didn’t fulfill my promises; instead, I hurt you and Elena again and again. Although I do not want to divorce, I had planned to break up with Jane Auclair after Marina’s first month. I told my mother yesterday evening about my intent to reunite our family. Daisy, can you give me another chance?"

Daisy Willow confessed to herself that she wasn’t touched by his words at all. ’A family of three’ sounded like a beautiful dream. Ever since Elena was born, Mrs. Duncan disliked her. During those days that she was hospitalized, Cole would come to see her but never stay long, as Mrs. Duncan would always call him home for various reasons.

She had felt disappointed at times, but Cole always managed to comfort her and paint a lovely picture of their family unit. Later, they did become a family of three in Fucla Residential Area - but what good was it? Her husband had only a single day a week for them, and even this little time was taken away due to Jane Auclair’s pregnancy.

Just because Jane carried the Duncan family’s desired son, she knew that sooner or later, Cole would ask her for a divorce. She had prepared herself mentally for this day.

"Cole, what nonsense are you talking about?" Before Daisy Willow could respond, Mrs. Duncan, who had recovered from the shock, appeared at the doorway. Upon hearing Cole’s words, she dismissed them as pure drivel.

In the past, she found Daisy Willow’s words pleasing to the ear - agreeing to give up everything except Elena. That was perfectly fine. Initially, she planned to give her one million as alimony, this way, she could save some money and buy a few designer bags.
