Chapter 422: Chapter 422: She Wants a Divorce (8)
"I..." Katie wanted to argue, they did want to listen, but their master didn’t admit it, and they didn’t know whether to listen to the master or the lady.
"Never mind, go do your work, I’ll go in and check. You come in later to prepare bathing water for the young master." Mrs. Duncan looked up at the time on the wall; it was almost nine o’clock, and Daisy Willow hadn’t brought Elena back, so it seemed she really didn’t plan on coming back.
Good, it’s best that she doesn’t come back, so she can talk to her son about them getting a divorce.
"Yes." Katie replied, and hurriedly left. Before, these tasks were done by the young lady, and she was supposed to take care of the little miss. But today, even at this time, the young lady hadn’t come back with the little miss. It looked like something was really going to happen to this family.
Thinking of the unpleasant words the lady said to the young lady when she left in the afternoon, anyone in her position probably wouldn’t want to come back.
Mrs. Duncan entered the room and saw Cole Duncan holding his cellphone, constantly dialing. She didn’t even have to guess to know her son was calling Daisy Willow. He really had no backbone at all.
Mrs. Duncan secretly cursed her spineless son.
However, Cole didn’t pay any attention to his mother entering the room. He continued to dial Daisy’s number, worried that something had happened to the mother and daughter since they hadn’t returned home yet.
But Mrs. Duncan didn’t care at all. Walking over, she snatched the phone from Cole’s hand and threw it onto the bed. "Who are you calling? She took Elena and left! Before she left, she told me to tell you that she wants a divorce! What’s the point of calling her now?"
"...She wants a divorce?" Cole definitely didn’t believe what his mother said. He knew he had wronged Daisy, and now he was willing to make it up to her and her daughter, even starting to make plans.
Jane Auclair came by every day, which actually bothered him, but he had been distancing himself from her bit by bit, hoping she’d gradually realize. After all, she had just lost her child, and he did feel guilty towards her.
But now he no longer thought about divorcing Daisy.
So when he heard his mother say that Daisy wanted a divorce, he knew there was a possibility.
Hearing this, he felt a wave of panic. Was it because Daisy could no longer bear their current situation?
"Of course, you have no idea how beautiful she looked today, all dressed up and wearing makeup. You tell me, who is she dressing up for? Isn’t she going out to cheat? Let me tell you, Cole, you’d better divorce her before that woman cuckolds you. I agree to give her a million in alimony, but she won’t get anything else."
"..." Cole didn’t speak. It wasn’t about the money; he just didn’t want to divorce, period. He probably wouldn’t have any more children besides Elena in this lifetime, and now he just wanted the three of them to be together, not thinking about anything else.
If Jane’s child had still been alive, he might have given Jane some recognition for the sake of that child. But the child wasn’t there, and Jane’s personality wasn’t suitable to be a wife, at least not his wife.
A woman who, in a fit of rage, snatches the steering wheel -- someone so unreasonable and willful -- it’s not that he isn’t angry, or doesn’t care, but rather that he temporarily lets it go because of his guilt towards her.
But that doesn’t mean he approves of Jane’s actions. A woman like that can’t be indulged.
