Chapter 420: Chapter 420: She Wants a Divorce (6)

Of course, she knew that Carolline had raised Axel on her own until he was over five years old, but that was due to a misunderstanding between them, which was different from her situation with Cole Duncan.

Cole was still her husband, and they were living in the same city. However, he had never taken on the responsibilities of a father. In Elena’s eyes, it was as if she had no father at all.

Now, Axel was very happy. Fortunately, Elena was quite happy playing with him, too. She had always worried that Elena lied when she said she didn’t feel bad. Maybe Elena was not lying at all.

"He’s on a business trip, and I have time. Axel doesn’t want to go back home either, so let me treat you instead. When you find a job and start earning money, you can treat me back," said Carolline, without making Daisy Willow feel uncomfortable.

"Thank you, Carolline." Daisy Willow sincerely thanked her. Since becoming Mrs. Duncan, she basically had no friends. Her life circle consisted of her husband, child, and mother-in-law. But in the end, all she had left was Elena.

However, Elena had brought Carolline into her life as a friend, which made her feel lucky and blessed.

Carolline took out her phone and called Sophia Lawson, telling her that she would take Axel out for dinner with friends tonight and that they would not return to the Hawkins Family. Instead, they would go back to their grandmother’s house, and tomorrow after work, she would bring Axel to the Morgan Mansion to learn calligraphy. Then, she would take him back on Sunday.

Sophia Lawson acknowledged the arrangement, while Grandma Hawkins wanted to chat with Axel like a child. Carolline called Axel over, and Elena followed.

"Elena, come have some water." Seeing Elena playing with Axel until she was all sweaty, Daisy Willow handed her a cup of water.

Elena drank the water while Axel spoke happily with his great-grandmother on the phone.

Elena watched from the side, envious of all the loving family members Axel had around him.

"Elena, come." Carolline called Elena over and hugged her. "Tonight, let’s go for steak with Mommy, Auntie, and Axel. What do you think?"

"Ok." As a child, Elena’s eyes lit up at the mention of steak. Her sadness turned into a bright smile on her face.

When Axel heard that they were going for steak, he quickly ended the call with his great-grandmother, and excitedly grabbed Carolline, urging her to go right away.

Carolline told them to wait at the entrance while she went to the parking lot to get her car.

After having steak, they went to Electa City. The two children had a great time playing together. Elena hadn’t been this happy in a long time. Daisy Willow watched Elena’s smiling face with relief.

"Carolline, thank you so much. Elena hasn’t been this happy in a long time," Daisy Willow said with tears in her eyes.

"Don’t say that. Axel and Elena are very happy together. Plus, I believe that once you get away from that family, you two will have a happy life together." Carolline said, and Daisy Willow nodded in agreement.

It was nearly 9 pm, and although the children were reluctant to leave, Carolline and Daisy Willow knew they had to stick to their principles and head home.

Carolline first drove Daisy Willow and Elena back to their own home, then returned to her grandparents’ house.

"Mom, when is Dad coming back from the business trip?" After not seeing Bryan Hawkins for three days, Axel began to miss him.

"Hmm, Dad will be back once he’s done with work." Carolline missed him, too, but she knew she needed to be understanding.

"I really miss Dad." Axel sat in the back seat, looking somewhat bored. "By the way, Mom, is something wrong with Elena’s family? I feel like she has something on her mind."
