Chapter 414: Chapter 414: Lingering Evil Spirits (9)
"Getting ready to sleep." Carolline Ruiz felt a bit embarrassed, sensing that he had discovered her little intention of waiting for his call.
"Then sleep, good night, sweet dreams." Bryan Hawkins didn’t bother her too much, knowing she was tired.
"...Uh, you should go to bed earlier too." Carolline Ruiz nodded her head, and as reluctant as she was, ended the call.
Bryan Hawkins looked at the twinkling starry sky outside the window, feeling tired but his heart softened the more he thought of Carolline Ruiz’s appearance. Afterward, he made another call to the dean of the Fourth Hospital.
"Mr. Hawkins." The dean picked up Bryan Hawkins’ call as soon as he saw it.
"Dean, I’m sorry for bothering you so late, but I have a question. How is Matilda Ferguson doing now?" Bryan Hawkins asked directly.
"Well, her condition is under control." The dean told the truth, Matilda Ferguson was indeed not sick when she first came in, but after several years, even if she wasn’t sick originally, being confined like that had made her sick.
"That’s good. I’ll send you some photos later, and at that time, have someone show them to Matilda Ferguson." Bryan Hawkins said. He was the kind of person who wouldn’t bother anyone unless provoked, but if someone repeatedly challenged him, then he wouldn’t be polite anymore.
The Ferguson Residence seemed to want to follow Morris Family’s example, planning for their complete downfall?
Frank Ferguson was nothing more than a hothead with no brains, thinking that by getting close to the secretary’s daughter, he could deal with Bryan Hawkins?
"Of course, Mr. Hawkins." The dean understood that Matilda Ferguson had managed to have some peace despite her deteriorating life over the years, but Bryan Hawkins suddenly behaving like this meant that the Ferguson family had pissed him off again.
Having hung up the phone, Bryan Hawkins once again bothered David Murphy at night, asking him to send the photos of the newly opened Skyview Restaurant, as well as the photos from their previous visit with Charles Carrington’s son-in-law.
It wasn’t long before David Murphy sent him the requested photos. Seeing the happy family of three from the Ferguson Residence, he wondered what thoughts would come to mind for Matilda Ferguson, who was now in the Fourth Hospital dealing with mentally ill patients every day.
He was waiting.
Once tomorrow’s itinerary was arranged, Bryan Hawkins finally returned to his room to take a shower and sleep. Soon, his phone rang. It was a call from Axel, his young buddy, which he picked up without hesitation.
With a gentle tone, Axel asked for Bryan Hawkins to tell him a bedtime story on the other end of the phone. In response, Hawkins began to tell him a story over the phone. As he did, Axel soon fell asleep.
Sophia Lawson took the phone, aware of the hotel’s problems, and asked him, "Bryan, are things difficult? Should I ask your father to come and help?"
"No need, Mom, I can handle it myself. I might be here for a few more days. Thank you for taking care of Axel in meantime," Bryan Hawkins expressed his gratitude for Sophia Lawson helping take care of Axel.
"Don’t be silly, Axel is adorable. As for you and Carolline Ruiz, Axel has grown so much. While you’re both still young, hurry up and have another child," Sophia Lawson voiced her heartfelt opinion.
"...Heh heh, okay, I’ll talk to Carolline Ruiz about it."
Bryan Hawkins hung up, smiling. When he closed his eyes again, he wasn’t as sleepy as before. Instead, his mind was filled with visions of him and Carolline Ruiz having another daughter who resembles her, and the indescribable happiness that came with it.
Carrying this dream, Bryan Hawkins fell asleep, and in his dream, he truly saw a porcelain doll resembling Snow White. It was a treasure to him; something he was afraid of dropping and breaking when he held it, or melting when he held it in his mouth.
Only, Bryan Hawkins wouldn’t know at this moment that this dream could only ever be a dream.
