Chapter 409: Chapter 409: Lingering Evil Spirits (4)
After receiving Xavier Estrada’s phone call, Charles Duncan and his group gathered at the Seagace Hotel, where the waitstaff quickly prepared breakfast for them.
The breakfast was ample, and everyone wore a worried expression on their face, except for Bryan Hawkins, who seemed relaxed.
"Alright, let’s not be so down. Since this has happened, let’s just deal with the issue properly," Bryan Hawkins spoke up, thinking that the situation wasn’t as serious as he initially thought.
"Yes, Mr. Hawkins is right. We shouldn’t be disheartened. We’ll solve the problem since it has occurred." Charles Duncan supported Bryan Hawkins, knowing that being disheartened was pointless at this time.
"But our hotel has already received a government order for rectification. The quarantine results haven’t even come out yet, but the result of the shutdown and rectification is already here. I really don’t understand, we haven’t slacked off on our rituals and prayers. It feels like the government is targeting our Seagate Hotel this time," said one of the Deputy Managers after eating a couple of buns, still puzzled and indignant.
During the year-end events, they had happily hosted officials who often arrived empty-handed but left carrying plenty of gifts.
However, no mercy was shown during this unexpected incident, making it difficult not to feel angry.
"Yes, Mr. Hawkins, I also think that, especially Secretary Gu, I think he is deliberately targeting us," another Deputy Manager chimed in.
When they tried to negotiate with Secretary Gu, the old man seemed impervious to their appeals.
"Let’s all eat first, then go back and sleep for a few hours. During the shutdown and rectification, consider it paid leave for everyone. Rest well, and the same goes for the staff," Bryan Hawkins interrupted their endless chatter. He wanted to investigate this matter thoroughly, but he needed all of them to be well-rested and ready.
"Mr. Hawkins, we are not tired. If there is anything you need us to do, just give the word," Charles Duncan knew the Deputy Managers were genuinely eager to resolve the situation and vocalized their intentions.
They were all willing to risk their lives for Bryan Hawkins and the Hawkins Family.
"Don’t worry, there’s a tough battle waiting for us, but we all need to be in good spirits. We’re not made of iron. I need rest too. I drove all night with Xavier, and we’re both exhausted," said Bryan Hawkins before quickly eating his meal.
Seeing Bryan Hawkins like this, everyone followed suit and ate their breakfast earnestly.
After breakfast, they all followed Bryan Hawkins’ instructions and went home, agreeing to meet at 5 pm to visit other victims. With their plans in place, they dispersed.
Charles Duncan and the others hadn’t changed clothes in two days. It was time for them to take a shower, change, and sleep for a few hours to recover their energy. After all, Mr. Hawkins said there was a tough battle ahead.
Xavier Estrada and Bryan Hawkins naturally remained at their hotel. Since the Seagace was ordered to undergo rectification, they moved to the nearby Sunshine Hotel, which was still operational.
Bryan Hawkins booked the Presidential Suite, and Xavier Estrada stayed in the same room with him.
Upon entering the room, Bryan Hawkins put down his belongings, took a shower, and then called Mayor Jin. The call was promptly answered, "Bryan, I heard about the incident. Is there any trouble?"
"Yes, there’s some trouble. The government has ordered Verina to shut down and undergo rectification. I’ll follow the government’s instructions. Which brings me to my next question – are you free for lunch, Loyalty? Let’s have a meal together." Bryan Hawkins’ close relationship with City A’s youngest mayor was something few people knew. He hadn’t contacted him immediately upon arrival to avoid causing him trouble.
