Chapter 397: Chapter 397: The Wedding Date Is Set (1)
Ever since Celia Wade, who thought she had seen Jordy Wade, her life had been smooth sailing. Even if Jordy was in G City, he never showed up in front of Celia, yet he always found the time to visit her. Seeing her doing well, he could rest assured.
She no longer let her mind wander, and she stopped daydreaming about Jordy. This was her life now, she had finally come to terms with that. Being single was not so bad after all. Let her spend the rest of her life in loneliness, as a form of repayment for her mother’s life.
If her father was willing to give her a glance for this, she would have no regrets.
"Is Big Brother Jordy still in G City?" Carolline Ruiz suddenly thought of this question just as they were approaching where Celia lived.
"He left on a ten o’clock flight last night." Bryan Hawkins responded. Jordy had once asked him to keep an eye on Celia when he was free. He was genuinely concerned about what might happen to her.
"Did he really never visit Celia?" Carolline couldn’t believe how cold-hearted Jordy could be. He was never like this to Celia before. Even though what happened between them, she thought Jordy would never be this hard on Celia.
Since she got to know the sibling duo, she realized that Celia was the most important person in Jordy’s life.
Now, how did they end up where they are now? She truly felt it was a great pity.
"Of course he visited her, it’s just that Celia doesn’t know." Bryan Hawkins didn’t have many friends, Jordy was one of them. His business was doing well overseas, and Jordy helped him a lot. He didn’t want Carolline to misunderstand him.
"Why would two people who love each other end up like this?" Carolline found it hard to accept. After they found out they weren’t biological siblings, she thought it was natural for them to be in love. So why were their parents so closed-minded?
"Such is fate, let it be. Don’t be too sad." Any story has an ending it deserves.
When they arrived at Celia’s house, Carolline didn’t bring the key, she chose to press the doorbell instead. But after a while, Celia hadn’t opened the door. Carolline listened for a bit, but she heard no movement.
Carolline then took out her phone and called Celia. She hadn’t called earlier, assuming Celia would be home.
The call did connect, but it took a while for anyone to answer. As soon as it was picked up, Carolline immediately asked, "Celia, I’m outside your house, open the door."
"... Sorry, I’m Celia’s coworker. We’re working overtime tonight. Celia went out to get supper for everyone a moment ago. Who is this? I’ll have her give you a call back later. Is that alright?"
On the other end of the line, came a crisp male voice, sounding like a fresh graduate.
"...Oh, okay, thank you." Carolline was stunned for a moment before replying.
"What’s wrong?" Bryan Hawkins felt a bit of heartache seeing Carolline’s despondent look.
"It’s nothing, let’s go back. Celia is working overtime tonight, she probably won’t be back anytime soon." They were preparing for supper, suggesting an all-nighter.
"They’re all adults now, they can handle their own problems. Don’t worry too much. I assure you, Jordy won’t give up on her." Originally, Jordy told him not to tell Carolline, but seeing his wife worry so much about them, Bryan Hawkins had to betray his buddy’s trust.
"How do you know? Did he say that?" Carolline didn’t believe it. If he wouldn’t give up, why would he be so ruthless, not even willing to show his face?
