Chapter 354: Chapter 354: Axel Recognizing Relatives (8)
"Perfect." Bryan Hawkins was satisfied with his own outfit, and then chose a short-sleeved shirt and casual suit pants for himself. The two of them left the house hand in hand.
Axel was still watching TV in the living room, and Leston Bawl had gone up the stairs. When he saw the couple coming down, he finally felt relieved. "Young Master, Young Lady, let me drive for you."
Leston Bawl had received orders from the old lady to go with them to the Hawkins Family house.
"Alright, thank you, Uncle Leston." Bryan replied indifferently, "Axel, come here. Dad will take you to your room to change clothes."
In ten minutes, Axel appeared in a very handsome outfit, and the three of them left the house with high spirits.
Nearby, Leston Bawl bought some fruits and snacks as instructed, and then they continued on their way. In almost an hour, they arrived at Pupace Mountain Villa.
Seeing the iron gate open, Carolline Ruiz suddenly felt breathless and extremely nervous.
Grandma Hawkins had always liked her, and she knew it, but five years ago, she had lied in front of her. Even though she had admitted to the dying Grandpa Hawkins that Axel was a Hawkins descendant, she had still kept it a secret from Grandma Hawkins.
Over the years, they had only had a few chance encounters on the street. So, it was not an easy task to meet someone in the vast crowd unless you had the intention to do so.
Bryan noticed her nervousness and handed the fruits and snacks directly to Leston Bawl when they got out of the car. Holding Axel on one hand and Carolline on the other, he comforted her and told her not to be so nervous.
But Carolline couldn’t help but be nervous, and Bryan’s comfort couldn’t ease her anxiety. Still, having him by her side did make her feel more secure.
Grandma Hawkins had not come out to greet them, knowing Carolline too well. She just sat in the room waiting, her heart pounding when she heard the door handle being turned.
Leston Bawl brought the fruits and snacks into the house, and Sophia Lawson and Austin Hawkins were the first to see Carolline and Axel. Sophia’s tray dropped to the floor, making a loud, chaotic sound.
Austin quickly held his wife and let the servants handle it. Even as calm as Austin, seeing Carolline and Axel, especially how similar Axel looked to his eldest son when he was young, everything was self-explanatory.
"This... this... is..." Austin, rarely so uncomposed, knew that everything was already understood without saying a word.
"Axel, go call Grandpa and Grandma." Bryan gently pushed Axel, who went forward, holding one hand of each. "Grandpa, Grandma, hello. My name is Axel Hawkins, Axel for short."
"Axel, come here, to your great-grandma." Before Austin and Sophia could speak, Grandma Hawkins, who was sitting in the living room, couldn’t wait any longer. She stood up and called out directly.
Axel turned his head and saw an old lady with a loving smile, standing up and waving to him.
"Axel, go to your great-grandma first." Austin’s words became smooth, and Axel ran towards her with his short legs, sweetly calling her great-grandma.
After that, Axel was practically monopolized by Grandma Hawkins. When Sophia finally came to her senses, she had no more chances to touch her precious grandson.
But this surprise was both shocking and delightful. Their eldest son and Carolline had deceived them for so many years, living in the same city with them without knowing that Axel was their biological grandson. This was simply outrageous.
"Eldest, go to the study with me." Austin ordered Bryan. It was time to exert his fatherly authority.
"Wife, call my parents and help me plead my case." Bryan immediately put on a pitiful look. He wanted to ask his grandma for help, but she was too preoccupied with Axel at the moment, leaving him no choice but to ask Carolline for help.
"Eldest, have you no shame? You did such absurd things and still dare to ask your wife for help? Aren’t you afraid of losing face?" Austin couldn’t help but laugh and get angry at the same time. He had never seen his son act so pitiful. Yet, why did it look so adorable?
"Alright, we can discuss the punishment after dinner. Carolline, go sit in the living room." In the end, it was Sophia who spoke up and intervened. She couldn’t stand to see her son being scolded, especially after he had brought back such a wonderful grandson. This was a merit, not a mistake.
"Yes, mom, dad, I’m sorry. It’s not just his fault. If you want to blame someone, I’ll take half of the responsibility." Carolline wasn’t afraid to admit her mistake, but she was worried that Bryan might be punished by Austin.
"Don’t say that, you gave birth to Axel and raised him alone for so many years. Our son and the Hawkins Family are indebted to you. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to discipline this kid for you properly." Austin managed to connect the dots from the past, realizing that Bryan had declared he would not marry after divorcing Carolline. He later claimed to have had a profound love affair with Felicia Miller, but how could he not realize that his son had such great flirting skills?
He had dared to say such words without thinking of the consequences, not fearing the day he would have to kneel on a washing board.
"..." Carolline didn’t know what to say now, and Bryan’s face darkened too. From childhood to adulthood, his father had never used the word "discipline" on him. But now, looking at his expression, it seemed serious enough.
Carolline was pulled by Bryan, and she called out to Grandma Hawkins, "Grandma—"
"Mmm, you finally agreed to come back? Sit down, let’s talk about everything after dinner. Butler, prepare the rooms for the eldest son, the eldest daughter-in-law, and the little grandson. They’ll be staying here tonight." Grandma Hawkins was the happiest, and she had no complaints about Carolline.
However, Axel was the center of attention, so everyone paid attention to him alone.
Carolline lowered her head and didn’t speak. But Bryan reached out and held her hand, giving her a look to assure her that there was no need to be so down, and everything would be fine.
